About this house rental
The vacation home is located off the main road at the end of a quiet street on a piece of land with access to beaches on both sides of the house. This is a serene and tranquil writers or painters paradise steps away from the shoreline with exceptional water views. This house is clean, has a fully stocked kitchen, has all linens, is well-kept and ready for your enjoyment
This is a beautiful, bright, cheery, home with stunning panoramic views and a grassy lawn that stretches to the edge of the shoreline. There are two decks and deck chairs, a propane grill and propane fire-pit for your enjoyment, as well as an outdoor shower with hot and cold water.
The beautiful fishing village of Milbridge is across the bay only a 5 minute drive. Fickett's Point house provides beauty, peace and privacy. You can take in the breath-taking sunset views over the water on one side and sunrise views on the other.
If you like the sound of the ocean waves at night you will love this comfortable two bedroom home. We have wireless internet and a smart TV in the livingroom, or curl up next to the propane woodstove in the library. Have breakfast at the picture window with a view of the sunrise and the seven islands. Relax in the sunroom surrounded by open screened windows and breath in the salty summer breeze, You can enjoy the view from the deck or from sitting on a rock at the water's edge. Anywhere here you will enjoy the feeling of being on a peninsula on the coast of Maine.
Both beaches are private and easily accessible, either a lightly sloped walk down a grassy path to a sand beach for swimming or an 8-step stairway down to a rocky beach to sit and gaze at the Seven Island view. You can launch a boat at the marina a mile down the road and cruise around the coast or easily pull a canoe or kayak down to the shore directly in front of the house. There is nice kayaking and canoeing all around the vicinity. The house is great for a husband and wife private getaway or a retreat for vacationers wanting a quiet and scenic place to forget their worries and just relax. Children will love the diverse collection of shells, beach-glass and things to find while beach-combing at low tide.
This house accommodates 4 comfortably. All new appliances and fully outfitted for a restful vacation.
How far? The house is 1½ hours east of Bangor and the Bangor International Airport. 4½ hours northeast of Portland, 5½ hours from Boston and 10½ hours from New York City. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor is a one hour drive down the coast.
What's nearby? Petit Manan is worth seeing as is Milbridge's own McClellan Park.
Schoodic Point and Acadia National Park. Also Campobello Island, New Brunswick (FDR's summer home) is within an hour and a half, as is the Bold coast up to Quoddy Head the easternmost lighthouse in the US.
Lobsters and clams are readily available in Milbridge (lobster and clam pots provided with cottage). This is one of the largest wild blueberry producing areas in the world, so there are plenty of berries available nearby during the season (late July through August); berry picking is permitted at Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge in season.
Activities in this part of Maine include hiking the Petit Manan Coastal Wildlife Refuge trails, visiting the pink granite shores at McClellan Park in Milbridge, exploring the crashing surf at Acadia National Park’s Schoodic Point in Winter Harbor, hiking the Bold Coast up in Cutler, visiting the wonderful Milbridge historical society museum and, of course, checking out the tourist attractions in Bar Harbor.

Nice place. Relaxing.

We visited Down East Maine for the third time and never regretted the long way from Germany. The stunning sea- and landscapes with their beautiful fauna and flora have always attracted us, and through most of the time the weather was pleasant. Staying at Seven Islands View Cottage made our journey perfect. It's amazing location with access to private beaches, the comfortable interior and well stocked kitchen made us feel at home from the very beginning. To our great delight we observed ospreys and two resident bald eagles from the site and were frequently "visited" by a deer and even once by her baby.
Brian was a discreet caretaker, always at our disposal and gave us valuable hints.
We've been using VRBO vacation rentals for many years, and this home was one of the best we've ever stayed at.

I could live at this house! It was even better than we expected. It’s so big with so much room. I loved eating breakfast at the picnic table while listening to the ocean. The first morning a deer walked right through the yard while I was out there. The drive to Bar Harbor/Acadia is around an hour, but it was worth it to wake up here and come back to the beach in the evening. There’s also everything in the house you will need. I cooked one night, and it’s a very well stocked kitchen. We really appreciated access to the washer and dryer. My only thought for the owner is that there’s so much room and the beds are small. We have two teenage sons who didn’t want to sleep in a double bed together, so one slept on the couch in the sun room. It worked out perfect, but those rooms could definitely fit larger beds. Overall we loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone!

This trip to Maine was beautiful, and peaceful, and reenergizing, and it all starts and end with this home. The owner was so thoughtful, even reaching out once when finding out traffic may be altered in town. The check-in was seamless. The sounds of the ocean and the views will leave you in awe. The house is quaint, but furnished well, and gas plenty of room for family members to spread out and not feel like they're on top of one another throughout the week. I cannot thank them enough for sharing this property with my family.

Great time in a beautiful location close to tourist attractions but away from the craziness when needed

The description of the property is spot on. The photos are an excellent representation. You feel embraced by all of the pictures and memorabilia that immerse you in this family’s seaside treasure that spans at least four generations of Maine coastal history.
The place was larger than we imagined with an amazing den and sunroom. The two of us were able to spread out and read, write, puzzle, and relax. Four would be very comfortable here.
There is rocky seaside to the east and to the south and on the west look for the “Beach Path” sign that leads to a long, wide, sandy beach.
Kitchen was well-stocked and even included everything needed for a lobster feast.
Very clean and communication was instant and very friendly.
The only minor drawback was the wifi. (Though chances are you’re here to relax—not use the internet!) I had a little writing stuff to work on so fortunately there was a router and a hotspot so we had two sources to enhance bandwidth. It was okay for writing, research, and surfing, but each source was only 2-4 mbps so streaming was limited and glitched. I don’t think you could count on it for virtual meetings.
Aside from that it was probably one of the very best vacation rentals in our 40+ years of using BnBs and vacation rentals.

The location is beautiful view of the ocean. It was a little ways from the attractions we were visiting but we knew that when we signed up. It had all the amenities we needed.

We are long time VRBO home renters, and this home by far was one of the cleanest and most inviting homes we have stayed in. The home owners have everything that is needed for a comfortable stay. From the rocking chairs in the library where we enjoyed morning coffee and overlooked the water to the fire pit in the evening. The kitchen was fully stocked. All towels and linens provided. The home was close to town and a short drive to many beautiful hiking trails. Communication with the owners was quick and easy. Would definitely love to visit again!

We had a great time staying at this property. It has an amazing location with views of the ocean on all 3 sides and great yard space and sandy beaches within a short walking distance. We stayed a week and explored the coast all the way from Acadia to Machias. The beaches at the house and Schoodic Point were the highlights of our trip...beautiful and relaxing. The house was clean and well stocked. The owner and caretaker were both responsive and helpful. We would definitely go back.

We had a lovely time during our stay. The house was cozy and well stocked. We really enjoyed the beaches. We were very close and they were easy to access. We even got up early to enjoy the sunrise on the beach. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a peaceful retreat to escape the summer crowds!

The place was quiet and beautiful. It had a fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. We were able to see a group of seals from the cottage. The beach was fun for the kids. Sunsets were stunning. However, it wasn’t quite as described.
1. The listing showed two guest rooms and a master bedroom. When we arrived, the listing had changed and only two bedrooms were available.
2. The listing states that you can hear waves at night. You can only faintly hear them from inside the house, and you have to be close to the window. If it is breezy, you can’t hear them at all.
3. The listing showed fairly large waves. There are only small waves in this area. Maybe the photos were on a stormy day.
4. The listing said eight steps to a rocky beach with view of the ocean. It is eight steps, then giant boulders, then the rocky beach. If you have young children to carry, it will be difficult to access the ocean view beach.
5. The longer beach with easier access is very nice and perfect for young kids, but it is bay view only.

This clean, well cared for home has been in the same family for quite some time, and it shows in the care and maintenance. You can learn about the history of the house (and Maine in general) from the home’s many books and photographs. It’s comfortable and well stocked with all you need (dishwasher and laundry soap, paper towels, hand soap, oils and spices, etc.). The property itself is beautiful — we had a long stretch of sandy beach (a rarity in Maine) all to ourselves at low tide most days! The pictures do not do the house or the view justice. Communication with the owner was swift and seamless. This is a great home for a relaxing week away from the hubbub but within reach of major coastal attractions.

Loved,loved loved this property
This property have everything you could possible need. The accomodations were great. The views from the property were incredible. A very non-touristy area of Maine with so much to do. Can't wait to go back. One week wasn't enough.

Beautiful views, cozy home
We enjoyed our stay as the place was very comfortable, the patio room had beautiful vistas and the open windows allowed the sounds of the birds and the fresh air in. My 16 year old spent time on the rocky shores. We also appreciated how responsive Richard was- answered my call immediately after when I arrived. It’s also super nice to have a few the little extras that we didn’t have to rush out and buy such as coffee filters, dishwasher detergent, garganta bags etc. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We truly appreciate it.

Incredibly beautiful spot with amazing views and private beacj
We feel so lucky that we got to spend a week at this amazing property. The natural beauty, the wildlife, the incredible views of the ocean... Not to mention the luxury of a private beach that was both sandy and rocky! We loved sitting on the sand, climbing on the rocks, exploring the tide pools and even saw some seals in the distance. Thank you for a wonderful week.

The End of the Road
We had a really relaxing and quiet time in Milbridge at this very nice house at the end of a Maine peninsula. Beautiful views. Host Rick was very helpful and was really kind when a problem arose for us. There's a decent restaurant in Milbridge and a nice place for breakfast/lunch, plus a grocery store, and maybe more during the summer season. We were there in October. We visited Acadia NP on Mount Desert Island and the Schoodic Peninsula which is close to Milbridge, and also West Quoddy Head lighthouse and state park an hour plus drive east with a seaside hiking path all of which are not to be missed. We really enjoyed our stay.

East Coast Get-Away
My daughter and I had a great time at the Milbridge property. We were quite thrilled to sit on the back deck and watch the full moon rise, shining across the water. My daughter got some great pictures. The property is not luxurious, but it has all the conveniences and essentials covered. A great place to have a relaxing vacation!

September Vacation
House was immaculate, very private, and close to private beaches. Awesome location, surrounded by the ocean, and convenient to market. Very comfortable furnishings made for a delightful stay. Internet connection is intermittent. Otherwise great place. Really nice people. Rick is a friendly and helpful host and groundskeeper Brian really great too. Will plan to return for another stay.

Quiet Spot on Rugged Maine Coast
Cottage is located at the end of a low-travelled road... perfect for an early morning stroll. Milbridge is more of a fishing town, rather than for tourists, so it is a good location to just chill. It's away from people, but close enough to do hikes or sight- seeing if you take a little drive.

Oceanside Peace
This was the perfect stay on the coast of Maine. The cottage was perfectly situated with easy access to town and Acadia National Park. We enjoyed the sounds of the crashing waves at high tide, star gazing ant night, and exploring the beach for treasures. Rick was a gracious host and attentive to our questions. Would definitely return if we are in the area again.
