The Oast has real charm and everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Lots to do nearby and the host was welcoming and informative helping us make the most of our short break away.

Had a 2 night stay in this charming Oast house. Alan, the owner was there to greet us & was very accommodating. He gave us a tour of the property & showed us where everything was. As it was a rainy, chilly evening, he was kind enough to offer to light a fire for us, which we took him up on. The house was in a lovely setting with nice views of the countryside. It was cosy and comfortable and very clean with a well stocked kitchen, which had everything that we needed. It had a lovely relaxed feel to it with touches of old charm. We all loved it and didn't want to leave!.

A genuinely old & historic building, but clean, modern & comfortable inside. Wonderful outside areas.
All essentials provided, but things like cleaning, washing up liquid, te/coffee/sugar there also.
Location great. CAMRA gbg listed pub next door, cafe opposite, kebab van 2 mins walk. Boat hire 5 mins & steam train 10 min walk. Plenty of local paths.
Owner there on arrival. Friendly and informative.
Really didn’t want to leave ☹️.

The Oast was a really unique and comfortable place to celebrate my mum's 70th Birthday. Alan was a terrific host.

The property was very well equipped and there is even an electric car charging point. The location is excellent with Hastings (fish market, beach and the old town); Battle Abbey (excellent and enjoyed by the smaller and larger people); Rye (one of the Cinque ports, Waterworks brewery); and the Kent and East Sussex Railway (to Bodium Castle). Alan, our host, was very helpful.
Highly recommended!

We stayed for a long weekend at The Oast and had a wonderful time. Beautiful house and garden. We had great weather and spent most of the weekend sat outdoors looking at the wonderful views.
Miscommunication between the agent, Bloom, and owner about our dogs coming which was a bit stressful on the first evening due to the tone of the email but all sorted the next day.

Our family stay (5 adults) in this quirky and sympathetically renovated oast was lovely. The oast was very comfortable and well equipped. We had fantastic weather so were able to make great use of the outdoor space and BBQ and enjoy the views over the fields (though the oast also offered a large kitchen/diner and lounge area for less good weather). There are many nearby gardens, beaches, and other things to visit and we had a fantastic Indian takeaway from the restaurant a couple of minutes down the road - thanks for the recommendation Alan!

Nice property to stay in for a family. Nice instruction booklet with information as well as lits of leaflets for activities to do around local area. Unfortunately the pub next door had gardening at 8am with strimmers and lawnmowers going. Overall the area is beautiful and can be quite despite being next to the main road. We enjoyed our stay :)

We’ve recently returned from our six day staycation in Kent. The whole experience went smoothly. The booking team were lovely and very helpful. The owner greeted us and was on hand to smooth any minor issues. Very friendly and informative. The Oast offers a unique place to stay. The roundel living room and master bedroom are lovely and both are comfortably furnished. It has all of the conveniences of home with a stunning rural outlook. The pub next door equally offered a friendly welcome and great quality food. We were spoilt for choice for local eateries and things to do and see. A memorable and relaxing break. We’ll likely return in the future.

Alan was a great host and the house was incredibly clean and comfortable. Was a fab birthday weekend for my dad!

We were literally guests at the Oast in Newenden with 8 people.
The communication with Alan beforehand and the reception were excellent and warm. Everything was taken care of and any questions (although we didn't have many) were immediately resolved. We couldn't really wish for anything better. The Oast is 100 yards from the welcoming pub. We had a beautiful view from the terrace and there was no noise, what so ever.
The best location as a base for visiting Kent. We went to an Indian restaurant nearby on Alan's recommendation, an absolute must. In short, a stay that we will remember and recommend to everyone.
We suggested even a few improvements and his answer was do realize them at once.

There were 4x couples staying in the Oast comprising me and my 3 cousins & partners. The Oast provided good accommodation for 8 people, has a good kitchen and is well stocked with plates, glasses etc for so many people+.
Newenden is well located for exploring Kent and the many attractions around the area.

Lovely house with rural outlook but yet convenient to main road and local amenities. Pub next door and cafe by the boating centre both provide excellent places to eat. Paddle boardingon the river proved a winner

Wonderful location and host
Lovely oast house in a wonderful location. The outdoor space is fantastic and the master bedroom is gorgeous. The village is great and we particularly enjoyed the boating station and ice creams in their cafe. We appreciated the extras available for a baby like the cot and high chair. The house itself is a lovely old oast house. As with any listed building, there are going to be some things which are a little tired or not to our taste but we expected this. Do beware if you’re 6ft tall…my husband hit his head on the beams upstairs pretty much every day, but again that’s to be expected with an old property! Alan the host is wonderful, very welcoming and couldn’t be more helpful. He resolved the couple of small problems we had immediately and gave us some great recommendations of things to do in the area. We really enjoyed our stay.

Fabulous Oast
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely historic property. There are far ranging views from the Oast including the local steam railway in the distance.
We enjoyed the pizzas at the pub next door and the lovely log burner in the house amoungst other things.
The house is well equipped and the owner, Alan is very welcoming. Thanks Alan!

Family and friends holiday
We stayed at The Oast for 5 days. We had 4 children and a 1 year old baby. The house was perfect for us and very comfortable.
The space for us worked very well, the house is beautiful and Alan, the owner, was very helpful.
We visited Rye, Battle, Hastings, Bodium, Go Ape in Bedgebury and Bewl Water.
A great little holiday for all.

Superb location, stunning area
Thank you so much for such a smooth stay, a well guided tour to start and for even posting our items we forgot!
Will definitely be returning
The location is just outside of Tenterden and perfect for shopping. Next to a fantastic pub which is stumbling home distance.

Located next to pub and car park, no issues in January 2022 but possible in summer when pub garden busy. Accommodation fine unfortunately perhaps due to short turn around after the Christmas booking some bedding smelt ‘musty’ and had to be washed and listed tumble drier was not present. Bath shower access in en suite needs care. Overall enjoyable stay in period building well located for visiting Kent and Sussex places of interest.

The whole experience exceeded expectations. Alan showed us around the property on arrival, and gave the best welcome I have ever had at a holiday cottage. The property itself is stunning, and spacious - the photos do not do it justice (most notably the second adult bedroom is much larger than it looks). The setting is idyllic and there is so much to do and explore in the area. We would not hesitate to return.

good place to stay
We had a weeks stay with our extended family.
The Oast is perfectly positioned to explore the Kent and East Sussex areas.
The property has a host of original charm and is in good condition well equipped with lovely large open spaces for the children to play safely.
Would highly recommend it.

An excellent retreat in the beautiful countryside on the Kent Sussex border
Six good friends have just finished a 3 night stay in this beautiful Kentish property. Everything you could possibly wish for is here. Four fabulous comfy bedrooms, three upstairs and one downstairs. A fully equipped kitchen diner to cook, mingle and enjoy each other’s company in! Split living rooms. As many TV’s (one smart) as you could possibly wish for! With DVD player in the main room and a selection of DVD’s. As well as a pretty decent Marantz sound system!! A great living space outside with beautiful views towards the River Rother and Kent & East Sussex heritage railway line. It really is an ‘escape’ worth visiting!! Nearby there’s a village pub - great for meals (booking maybe necessary). We wined, we dined and we walked from our base. Always knowing that we’d have a fabulous home from home experience on our return. I’d highly recommend The Oast as a holiday home!
