The property was nicely decorated. Main areas were clean. Cobwebs around the windows and the exterior needs a washing. Understand this is a rustic cabin. Trash from previous guests filled the bear proof container and attracted lots flies. I did report it to management.
The property had nice dishes and supplied essentials. The location was nice.

My daughter & I spent 3 nights enjoying hiking & tubing in the area between her summer job and fall college semester. This is the most well equipped short term rental kitchen I have ever rented! I don't think there was anything anyone could have needed that couldn't be found in this kitchen. The cabin is actually made up from 2 separate old buildings joined together with a small addition containing a hallway & large bathroom. The kitchen & living room area are in a really neat old log cabin and the 2 bedroom and 2nd bath are in the other part of the building. The front porch is off the bedrooms with a nice golf course view and the back porch is large with lots of seating option and plenty of privacy. The beds were very comfortable and the linens were nice. Loved it all!

We had a lovely time in Black Mt.
Great location, caught a festival and some bluegrass music . Loved the home- great back porch, spotless , everything you could need.

Not clean, dog hair in both sides of the kitchen sink, refrigerator was not clean, i wiped out the shelves and door but was not cleaning the drawers. Large hunk of dog hair at the front door, dog treat beside the microwave. House is under major construction within feet of the house. They mowed the golf course daily across the street starting at 5:30ish am every day. Yes, the big bear walks up daily to the house, which we knew about. We finally packed up and left Thursday morning, we drove to another place to finish our week out. The look from the street to the front of the house, I would never have stayed there. The house itself is ADORABLE & the porches are great. The 3rd step from the bottom on the side which is the main entrance is about to break. Light was out over/near the main shower. We were not left anything to start washing the towels with. So, we just left them on the floor by the washer. There was no hand soap by the sink at the 2nd bathroom, third day I found a bottle under the sink. Most houses we rent from in Blk Mtn provide foil/plastic wrap/baggies/coffee etc so this time we did not bring any, it just adds to a place especially if you are cooking and eating there. Just not for us...we love Black Mountain, was our first disappointment in almost 20 years...
thanks,
Keith & Susan Davis

This is a great spot to stay with your family. Convenient to town and all other parts of the area.

The cabin was well appointed and has a rustic charm we found very comforting and relaxing. There are touches of country influences in all the rooms with an eclectic style with the furniture. The beds are very comfortable and soft. The two porches offer a great place to start or wrap up your day as they offer different views and have plenty of seating.

Great communication with property management company. Nice cabin overall, great sleeping beds, everything we needed. Only thing we were disappointed in was that the description stated mountain view but their is not one. Otherwise, all was good.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cottonwood. Black Mountain is a favorite getaway for us and this time we just wanted a couple of days for a change of scenery. This was perfect with quick and easy access to town and hiking and the cabin itself was charming and comfortable. Highly recommend!

A charming cabin with comfortable beds, well stocked and an easy access to the downtown. Loved the large back porch to sit & relax and we stayed dry in the heaviest of downpours listening to the rain. Walking paths and lake in close proximity & we had a fabulous time for our anniversary.

Setting was great. Back porch surrounded by trees so you couldn’t see neighbors and no one could see in.
Very clean and well stocked. Duvet in the closets were handy as it got cold. Beds were comfy.
Take someone tall. Kitchen cabinets were too high for me to reach. Pics in Vrbo showed spacious living room. Very small in actuality.

This cabin was so precious and so very well appointed. Although we only cooked breakfast the kitchen was very well stocked and has very nice cookware and plenty of baking sheet. The beds were very comfy with very nice sheets. LOVED the nice thick fluffy towels and plenty of them. The check in was super easy and the special treat of Four Sisters Cookies and the great coffee was a treat. Great house great location. And a absolute precious mountain town.

My partner and I stayed here on a last minute visit to Black Mountain. The beds are super comfy, and the house has a ton of character. We love the location so close to town.

House has everything you need and a very short hop into town. Walkable to the lake. Enjoyed some quiet time on the porch during the mornings and evening. A return location for sure.

The pictures are deceiving, it is way more rustic. Spiders and rough sawn boards for the kitchen floor. It was musty and when you tried to open windows to air it out, there were more spiders. The dumpster was full and on the list of chores they want you to complete, you have to carry it off yourself if it’s full. We have been going to the mountains in the fall for 30 years and this was the most disappointing place we have stayed at.

The house was just as advertised and we loved the close proximity to the town center. The lake is within walking distance. We loved sitting on the porch overlooking the golf course and the mountains. Overall a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

Great get-away spot located near downtown Black Mountain, and next to Black Mountain Golf Club. The rustic cabin like 2 bedroom, 2 bath has plenty of amenities. Gas fire place, outside Weber gas grill, kitchen is fully equipped for cooking whatever you need. My dad and I really enjoyed our 2 day stay there. A little challenging for those who have walking troubles (stairs to the back porch entrance a little steep, but otherwise no problems inside)

The house was so convenient to downtown and on the golf course in a beautiful setting. There was no ice maker so bring your own ice and we did have trouble with the door code but Rachel helped from Cottonwood.

Everything was as expected per the listing. It is a cute little cabin and we enjoyed staying there. The fireplace did not seem to be working and the nights got chilly enough that we could have used it. It was an easy check in/out process. The roads to the cabin are rather narrow and people in the neighborhood don’t seem to mind the bushes growing over the side of the roads. If you have a large vehicle, use caution.

A charming little cabin with great old wood, well-appointed, good spaces.
BUT the house immediately next door is having major construction done. We arrived to at least an hour of chainsaw use with more chainsawing and a woodchipper running for a good while the next day.
If you're looking for peace and quiet, I wouldn't count on that here until sometime later this fall or winter, I'd guess. They still looked to have quite a bit of work still ahead of them in the first week of August.
No one told us so I'm telling you.
We would have booked elsewhere for sure.

Great stay
Cabin was right size.
Mid-range rustic look which good.
Too close to a golf course, thus less privacy.
No air conditioning in main livingroom.
No bathtub.

Love the house cozy and the A/C worked wonderful was a great location for us. The front gate on the porch needs work and the bathroom by the bedrooms, door doesn't lock.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Great location near Black Mountain restaurants and shopping, yet very quiet and peaceful setting. Loved the back deck with a table for outdoor dining. The house was as described and the kitchen was well equipped for making breakfast and cooking. Everything worked, was new and clean. We'd stay here again.

My husband and I (and our dog) had a great birthday weekend at this cozy cabin in Black Mt. This was our first time here and we really loved the whole experience. The house was clean and comfortable...no complaints. Probably important to know that there is not a dishwasher, but that wasn't a problem for us.

The location was perfect and nestled in to a lightly wooded area for a bit of privacy while still minutes from great shops and eateries. Very unique home layout. Wonderful back porch my son used to sit and sketch while I did yoga. Front porch with rockers and great view of the gold course.

The main living room/kitchen area is a very nice space, the back and front porches are comfortable, the views incredible, the bedrooms and bathrooms up to the same standard. All that could be seen from the listing but the quality of life in the town was the real surprise with restaurants, museums, hiking.
10.0 / 10.0
We enjoyed our stay, especially the fireplace and porches. Only thoughts are that the showers were very slippery, and because the construction is still going on, we used the front porch more than the back...until the construction is over, it would be nice to have the Adirondack chairs on the front porch instead of the back. I agree with the history comment -- would have loved to learn the history of the cabin.

It was very rustic but that's what we like. We would have appreciated it if the owner would have included the history of the cabin on the property, even if it might not have originated there and was later moved to the site.
We had very rainy weather so couldn't enjoy the porch.

We had the best stay for for my husbands birthday in Black Mountain. We traveled with our 10 month old and the home could not have been more perfect. It’s such a cool place!! Perfect location across from the golf course, walking distance to the park and a quick drive to town. Can’t wait to come back!

We stayed for a few days recently and loved this cabin. Spacious, nicely stocked, and very comfortable. And when our plans got rained out one day, we enjoyed a lazy relaxing day around the gas fireplace.
Just minutes from downtown Black Mountain, where we found great restaurants, breweries, and shopping. And a 5 minute walk to the nearby park for walking the dog, fishing and hanging out. And Black Mountain itself seems to be 20-30 minutes from everything we wanted to do... Asheville, Mt Mitchell, Chimney Rock.
Fabulous stay... we'll likely be back for a longer visit.

We chose this location to be close to Montreat where I was taking a week-long class. The house was clean and very cozy. The fireplace in the evenings was an added bonus! Only gave 4 stars because of construction next door.
