FISHING - The majority of new folks who move to “Greenback”(as the natives call it) do so because of the excellent fishing in the Atlantic Ocean and the Chincoteague and Chesapeake bays. You can drop a line from any of the landings to the north or to the south of Greenbackville along the Chincoteague Bay for drum, rock, flounder, sand shark, etc. in season. And surf fishing in the ocean is excellent. Landings all along the shoreline provide excellent opportunities for crabbing, and the sandy bottom in the shallow parts of bay is a fun place to clam. Questions about fishing or need rigging? Call Seahawk Fish Center on Route 13, just south of Pocomoke.- Everything for fishing fun including guided fishing trips.

My family wanted to do something different this year. We normally go to OBX, Topsail Island or Tybee Island. We got a new pet Cruze Girl and we couldn’t leave her at home, so I went on VRBO and found this beautiful home by the harbor, we had a fantastic time. We visited Assateague, saw the lighthouse, guard shore beach, NASA, miniature golf, salt water pony cruise I highly recommend, and there’s a quiet beach right down the road where we went floating and the teens went kayaking in the harbor and biking. It was a lovely trip, sad it’s over.

The house was in a very quiet neighborhood and walking distance to the dock. You can launch kayaks and boat from the two boat ramps there (they have 2 kayaks at the property). At the end of the road they have a restaurant, the food was delicious (this is the place that was the Krusty Krab)
As for the house, 3 bedrooms each with their own bathroom, one room has bunk beds and a crib, tv room, nice dining room and big kitchen. There was everything in the house that you could possibly need.
Two hours from Virginia Beach, 1 hour from ocean city and 25 minutes to chincoteague. We didn’t want to leave!!

Everything was as pictured and listed. Great hidden gem of a property. Annette is an AMAZING host! The rental has everything you could need, and more!
We loved the kayaks, bikes, and puzzles. Thank you for being a pet friendly rental too.

The house was a great location right by the bay with kayaks and bicycles to use. Convenient to both Chincoteague, a half hour drive to the refuge and Assoteague within 45 minutes. Watched the Wallops rocket launch from the balcony. House was very clean and the renovation was well done down to the detail. The kitchen facilitated everything we needed for daily meals. The neighborhood is quiet and quaint. A great experience for our whole family.

We are so happy that we discovered this gem. We got to witness a rocket launch from wallops right from the top deck. Everyone was so friendly, and we even caught crabs off the dock. Would highly recommend. Property is exactly as described.

The whole family enjoyed our stay in this clean and comfortable home. It’s in a great location to explore the many beaches and other interesting spots nearby. We also enjoyed exploring the immediate neighborhood on the bikes that come with the rental. I would definitely stay here again!

What a wonderful little getaway. It was what I expected and more. Nice and quiet the kids really enjoyed being able to walk down to the docks and catch and enjoy all the local wildlife. And access to bikes for them was a plus too. It rained a couple days while we were down but i between storms the kids were still able to find things to do close to home. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Had a little problem with the internet in the beginning but the owners were very kind and helpful and got it all squared away quickly. I am definitely looking into coming back next year. Ty for making our stay such a wonderful experience!

We really enjoyed our stay here. We kayaked, visited Chincoteague and OC, and handlined for crabs. The home is walking distance from a marina where we watched commercial crabbers unload their hauls in the morning. There's a nice seafood restaurant right next to the marina that has really good softshell crab sandwiches. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet and the house was clean and tidy.

Our family really enjoyed our stay here, very nice place to stay and we loved that it was tucked away where it was quiet.

We throughly enjoyed our stay. Wish the weather was better but the home was great. It is nice to have three bathrooms all clean and ready to use. The kitchen was stocked with most things you might forget such as condiments, coffee and cleaning products. The remodel of the home was nicely in keeping with the personality of the neighborhood. We loved the interior doors, wood floors and so many craftsman details that were just quaint and neat to see. This home was very clean and inviting. The zone air / heat is so nice for different personalities. There is a nice boat launch down the street and a great shell beach a few streets over where your dog can roam with you and enjoy the water. This home is not in a busy or noisy area and we found that to be wonderful. We have a busy life and found the peacefulness to be very enjoyable. We could go out to the beaches close by or dinner in Crisfield by driving 25 - 45 mins and that was fine with us. Our pups got to stay in a home with lots of windows instead of being left with strangers. My only regret is not having more time to enjoy the kayaks or boating aspects of this place. Next time we come, we are staying longer and will enjoy the area and this rental even more. Annette made us feel welcome and the attention to details was amazing, where else would you find toys, potty seats and children's stools? You won't find these kind of details in other rentals. It was like your mom set it up because she knew you coming, very warm & inviting!

We had a great stay in Greenbackville, Virginia. The owner, Annette, was easy to reach and responded to all of our questions and concerns. The house was immaculate, and had everything in it that we needed. We recommend fishing off the pier at the end of the street, we caught two small sand sharks, a grey sea trout and a Black Sea bass ( catch and release of course)! We highly recommend this property. Thank you for your hospitality.

Quiet residential area for relaxing visit.

Wow! All I can say is that we truly didn't want to leave this beautiful century home & nice little community. It was exactly what we we needed but even better. What a unique home, love the bathroom vanities, hardwood floors & old millwork, meticulously remodeled & furnished with everything we needed for a truly relaxing vacation. We knew the minute we entered that we had found our little paradise for the week. The soft fluffy linens & towels were an added bonus, as well as the little things such as paper products, most condiments & ironing board/iron I had inquired about (thanks Annette). Its a little off the beaten path, it's part fishing - part farming community. Americana at its finest! We explored the area daily & enjoyed dining at Aj's on the Creek in Chincoteague several times & had the most amazing oysters, seafood & brunch! Assateague Island beaches & the lighthouse were also a short drive & my favorite activity. Couldn't wait to end our days adventures at this comfotable home base. We appreciate your gracious hospitality & thank you for sharing your lovely home with us & allowing our fur baby to accompany us. Can't wait to visit again in the future.

If you are looking for a quaint, small area, that is so quiet you can maybe hear the sound of a boat in the distance, this is your place. The whole area of Greenbackville Harbor is so small you could easily walk it/ride the bikes kept in the shed. We loved exploring the area and even met a nice neighbor behind the house on Church St. He told us everyone looks out for each other so it's comforting to know you are staying in an area where there are people around you like that. Along the same lines, everyone waves to you passing by. As mentioned in the description, the boat loading dock is a short walk away and we spent several times down there on the kayak or just taking in the serenity of the bay. The only downside is the restaurant called, "Crusty Crab" is no longer in business, but I bet if it weren't for unfortunate circumstances it would have been a great seafood place like others had suggested prior to its closure. We also accidently discovered "Shell Beach" which is on Franklin City Rd/3005 and is a must see. We collected a lot of cool shells, saw a horseshoe crab and jellyfish. The house itself was very clean, was well equipped with anything you'd need should you run out of it. The host was very responsive to my messages. We captured a great sunset every night and could see the sunrise from the top balcony. We'd definitely come back again for another peaceful getaway. Thank you Annette and Steve!!

We had a lovely stay. Greenbackville was a quiet and peaceful place-- just perfect for my wife and I and our parents and their small dog to spend a relaxing week. The house and kitchen were very thoughtfully appointed. In addition to day trips to Chincoteague and Assateague, we also enjoyed getting fresh local produce and baked goods from the Twin Oak farm stand nearby.

The property was beautiful, clean and matched the online description, and the owners were friendly and helpful.

Great family getaway
We had a great experience! The house was clean and well stocked. We were in town for the pony swim, it was a great location, close but far enough away to be out of the crowds.

Gorgeous, homely property
We had a wonderful time in Greenbackville in this beautifully restored house. Our host, Annette, couldn’t have been more helpful and quick to respond. We did find that it was a little further from Chincoteague and the beach than we were hoping, but if you love to fish then this is a great place to stay!

Annette’s home was impressive from the moment we arrived. It is restored beautifully with attention to details. I liked the exposed ceiling beams, rustic doors and trim, hardwood floors and the overall open feel. It was freshly panted and meticulously clean. Annette was accessible and responded promptly throughout our stay. It is only a quick trip to Chincoteague Island where there are many activities and shopping experiences. My family and I are impressed with Annette’s hospitality and agree it’s a do over.

The house was small but nice. The kitchen appliances and cookware was really good quality. The bedrooms were small and the kids’ room was clearly meant for little kids. Dogs were allowed, but it wasn’t quite pet-friendly—yard was not fenced in and the neighbor’s dog kept wandering over and intimidating our dogs, growling and such. The neighbors’ houses were very close by and we could hear the dog barking late at night.
The listing said it was 100 steps to the water. The water was where fisherman put in crab pots, but wasn’t a nice place to sit, swim, or really be in the water.
The neighborhood was nice, quiet, and rural. It was very far from all attractions though: 30-45min. We were not expecting that.
Overall, the house was clean, comfortable, and well-kept, but not exactly what we’d hoped.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hosts were incredibly gracious and very easy to work with. We used the house as our jumping off point for taking the kids to assateague island and it was great because it’s basically equidistant between the MD entrance and the VA entrance. We were only there for the weekend but will definitely be back to explore more of the surrounding areas too that we didn’t have a chance to get to. The house was also very lovely be clean and great for a group of small kids - there’s even a crib, bunk beds, and a trundle, plus toys and books. Would definitely recommend for any families looking to visit the area.

Relaxing Getaway with Friends
3 families of friends stayed in this property for a long-weekend. The property was nice and a great place to unwind, and the area was fun to walk around. The Chincoteague Bay is a few minutes walk, and very calming. Chincoteague Island beach is still about 40 minutes' drive, door-to-door, but it was nice to be in a large space. One family had to sleep in the bedroom with bunk beds, so just be aware that although there are 3 bedrooms one bedroom is more designed for kids than a married couple. Overall, a great time!

The house is adequately accessible. Annette and Steve were very responsive. The kayaks and bikes were very useful. All of us enjoyed our trip and stay. Definitely recommend bug doors and bug lights to keep the flies and mosquitoes out of the house.

Our family of 5 had a wonderful stay in the area, mostly because of the very welcoming, comfortable and super clean home of Annette Parker. It had everything one could think for a home away from home for a family. The location was very nice too in a quiet place and close to Chincoteague and Assateague. This was our first trip to the area and we really loved the place. Annette had all the information we needed to explore the nearby areas, restaurants etc, and there was something for everyone. The owner was also very responsive and very helpful every step of the way. Thank you Annette ! We will certainly be back if in the area again.

We loved our stay. The property has lots of character and was extremely clean. It was in a terrific location with great views (esp. from the 2nd floor balcony) of the wetlands and bay. We'd stay there again.

The house is charming with lots of cute ocean details and decor. It was great for myself, my husband, our two children and the in laws. Each room having its own bathroom was amazing! There was enough room to spread out and relax and enjoy some privacy. The balconies were a wonderful spot to take in the breeze off the bay. It is walking distance to a shell beach and the Crusty Crab restaurant. It was easy to launch kayaks. Two kayaks were included with the house. We were also able to utilize the bikes. A full kitchen with everything we needed. We were able to cook and bake and gather in the dining room each night. I recommend this place because it is very, very quiet and restful. It is easy to take day trips to Chincoteague, Assatateague, Ocean City, and Pokomoke City. There was something for each of us. Historical sites for my father in law. The Delmara Discovery center is a must see if you have small kids. Of course, the beach was fantastic. If you go to Assateaugue, you can get a week long pass to the beach for $25 per car. We had a great vacation and are grateful to the homeowners for thinking of everything we might need.
