This was one of the best properties we ever stayed in. Well appointed. Lots of room. And clean! Any questions the owner answered ensuring we would love our stay and we did! Great location for relaxing but close enough to Acadia for hiking and adventures and to Southwest for dinners and more!

I cannot say enough good things about the entire experience renting Seawall from Katie. The communication with her was top notch and she could not be nicer, or more helpful. She worked around our tricky schedule and ahad a lot of great suggestions for our stay.
Besides Katie though, the house was perfect for our group. Traveling with my wife and myself were our 30 year old daughter, her 21 month old daughter, and my 85 year old father in law. We had plenty of space and never felt like we were on top of each other. Katie also had a pack and play for the toddler to sleep in, a great highchair, and a little umbrella stroller that we used a few times throughout the week. The house is on a wooded lot and the deer come daily to graze. It was awesome to see them every day.
Everything was very clean and the kitchen was very well stocked with everything you'll need for home cooked meals. We used the grill, and it was a nice gas Weber grill. The front porch had a couple of comfy chairs to sit and wait for the deer to come by, or just to catch a few rays! In the backyard, there was a table and chairs if you want to eat ouside.
The home is about a 25 minute drive to Bar Harbor, but it is located in a really quiet area and that was really nice. It is an easy drive into town, and also (even withthe construction) to Ship Harbor Trail and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse.
All in all, if you are considering this place, book it before someone else does!! You won't regret it.

Spent a week with family and coming/going visitors and friends. This house was simply peaceful, clean, comfortable and a perfect spot to set out from and return to -- not too far from town but far enough to be off the beaten path. Lovely inside and out -- and plenty of room, supplies, etc. for our sometimes bigger sometimes smaller numbers.

Everything you could ask for. The property was clean and beautiful and the host was amazing. They were incredibly responsive to questions and they were so sweet and kind! I had a fantastic time and will be back!

We had 5 in our group. We had lots of space, our own bedrooms and i think we used every room in the place. Nice hiking trails and lighthouse in 5 to 10 minute drive and only a 1/2 hour from Acadia and Bar Harbor. Communication and arrival/departure instructions were clear and easy to follow.

We had a lovely stay at this home. We were 2 adults and an infant. The home had a Graco pack and play where our baby slept, as well as a high chair and stroller (we didn’t try the stroller). The kitchen was well equipped with cooking supplies and basic items such as salt/pepper and olive oil. We would definitely come again!

Absolutely lovely and roomy property. There is an ocean view although you have to walk or drive approximately a quarter mile for ocean access. The host was responsive and easy to communicate with. There were so many thoughtful amenities throughout the property. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend this house to anyone considering visiting the island!

We booked the property because all the bedrooms were on the first floor and it was close to SW Harbor. The house was very comfortable and spacious and had everything we needed—except the oven didn’t work so I didn’t bake my usual blueberry pie. Our host Katie was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay and the beauty all around us. Waking up to the deer was such a treat in the sun room. We saw so much and still not enough time. A place to visit again... We had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the family. Lots of great places to eat close by too.

We had an enjoyable week at Seawall, and the accommodations at 436 were perfect for us. We were six total; my wife and I, our two daughters, and our oldest daughter's boyfriend and another friend. The house was a great fit for our clan, well maintained and equipped with everything we needed.
All the beds were comfortable and and there was plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The location was also great, with easy access to anything you'd want to do in Acadia. We would definitely stay again!

This was the perfect house for our week in Maine! Between me, my husband and our two boys there was more than enough room, a large well-equipped kitchen, clean and comfortable bedrooms and a great outdoor patio/grill that we made good use of many times. We loved walking down to the Seawall and even got to do some stargazing one night. This was a rescheduled trip that was supposed to happen summer 2020 so we enjoyed EVERYTHING in the area including hiking in Acadia, Echo Lake, shopping and dinner in Bar Harbor, a whale tour (we saw 6 humpback whales!) and lots of lobster and blueberry pie/ice cream. My family is already talking about the next time we come. Thank you so much for your hospitality and warm welcome! Can’t wait to come back!

We had a delayed 50th anniversary gathering in Seawall with our kids and grands. The house was clean, comfortable, and had most of the comforts of home. The kitchen was very well equipped from seafood preparation and utensils needed to baking items that you usually do not find in a rental.
We were able to enjoy Woodland trails, bass harbor lighthouse, and the kids had some wonderful hikes. The setting was lovely, the lupines were in bloom and deer were all around.
We had dinner one night in the café dry dock, excellent meal.
Though the weather left much to be desired as it was showery and foggy which can be so typical of the coast, it didn’t stop us from doing what we wanted to do.
We were sorry to leave MDI at our week’s end.
Thanks Katie for your lovely home and hospitality. You are a gem!

The house is very nice and we are very happy with our stay. The location is close to everything but not on the touristy part of the island.

We made the trip to Maine from out of state with our 5 year old and 2 year old. This location was a perfect place for us! We love Southwest Harbor and found so many fun things to do with the kids nearby- Wonderland Trail, Ship Harbor, Echo Lake Beach, the Seawall, Bass Harbor Lighthouse, and more! The house was perfect with plenty of room for us and the kids and even some nice extras like a high chair, books, and umbrella stroller. We were able to use the porch and yard during nap times and the kids enjoyed afternoons running through the yard blowing bubbles and watching the deer! It was great to have a full kitchen to keep snacks and make breakfasts and lunch and it was close to several kid friendly restaurants along with ice cream right in southwest harbor. It was so hard to leave and we can’t wait to come back! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

We enjoyed our stay. Nice quiet location that was a short drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. My kids loved all the deer that were always around. We enjoyed the short walk down to the Seawall and Charlotte’s Lobster Pound. Made our vacation very pleasant.

This house was the perfect number of bedrooms for our family. We loved the individual private space and the large living room & dining room to get together. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need -- no searching for a tool to make due Also plenty of paper towels, tissues and trash bags. Also loved that they had salt & pepper & ice & coffee (left over from a previous rental I suspect) and more - even 2 coolers for our use. The only thing we missed was a dishwasher.
Great location, easy to get everywhere we wanted to go. The sunroom was a great place to sit with your coffee and watch the deer.
Lots of brochures and suggestions on what do to in the area.
Many places close for the season in Mid-October so be sure to call and confirm they are still open.
We recommend this location.

While we are “local” we had not traveled to Acadia, so we excited for our bucket list trip So, Our SW Harbor rental was a considered decision. We were delighted with the house & location. Very clean, comfortable & well equipped..even ice! Fluffy towels & nice bedding. Plenty of hot water. A great stay.

Katheryn saved our trip to Maine after our original vrbo was cancelled just hours before arrival. She opened up her home to us and was so incredibly helpful in suggestions on the places to check out with the limited time we had. Every recommendation exceeded our hopes while visiting Acadia. The house is so cute and cozy!! Being on the quiet side of the island was absolutely perfect and so enjoyable. It all worked out how it should have. Because of a trail recommendation from Katheryn, I got engaged on one of the most beautiful trails on the island!! A wonderful experience all around because of both the house and the host. We will definitely be returning!

Our family loved our fall stay at Seawall. Katie was a fantastic host - very accommodating, communicative, easy check-in, and she provided lots of information about the island. The house was clean, comfortable and well situated to all our favorite things about MDI including great hiking and SW harbor village restaurants. We couldn’t have asked for more out of our stay.

Great house and location. Cannot say enough kind words about this home. Loved it. The deer was a big bonus.

The house was a perfect location on the quiet side. It is well maintained and exactly as described. Katie was easy to work with and made sure all of our needs were taken care of.

We've been vacationing on the island for 20 years and had outgrown our regular accommodations in SWH, so we decided to give Seawall a shot this year and boy are we glad we did. Can't say enough nice things about our stay here! From impeccable communications with Katie to cleanliness, ease of use, accommodations, etc., we were thrilled with Seawall. The house is cozy but also affords plenty of room for folks to chill out and decompress after a day of activity on the island. The location is a little off the beaten path but that's a fundamental part of the charm. It's so peaceful, too, sitting on the front deck with a drink, a windowpane view of the water framed by trees, deer milling about...you get the picture.
But above all else, if you like to cook, well, this is a property that sees you! The kitchen is thoroughly appointed: appliances, cookware, dishware, flatware--it's all there. Heck, the carving knives were sharp and carving knives are NEVER sharp at rental properties! Best of all was the new Weber grill (propane included) that yielded burgers and dogs and jerk chicken and Italian sausage and London Broil, plus a bushel of grilled veggies. We like to eat out on the island a few times a week, but we also love sitting around enjoying a homemade meal, too, and we were able to do that and much more here. We hope to be back!

Lovely vacation
Host was great at getting back to us quickly and she gave us great information about the area. We loved the house. It is a lovely mixture of older with newer updates that was just right for our family. It has a nice open layout with a lovely backyard where you can watch the resident deer. There were many thoughtful touches with plenty of dishes, board games, fans in every room, extra cozy blankets, flashlights, and just about anything you might need on a vacation in Maine. There were not dressers, but this was not an issue as there was plenty of closet space with hangers, and shelves to store clothing. This property is in a great location. We could walk about a half mile to the ocean, we grilled in the lovely back yard, and had a campfire one night at Seawall. We felt like we were returning home after a day of exploring and we liked being able to just relax at the house. We hope to return. It was a great vacation!

What a great little gem located on the quiet side of the island, so tranquil yet so close to some of the most breathtaking and iconic scenery in the northeastern United States.
The house was very well furnished, above and beyond expectations, with comfortable beds and linens, plenty of paper products, detergent, and even beach towels and children's items including a stroller and a pack and play. The house was clean and welcoming and for indoor days or a midday rest, equipped with a Smart TV and many books and games. Speedy WiFi was also available.
On most days, we spent mornings hiking, kayaking, or sightseeing, came back to the house for lunch and a break, then headed out to either the Seawall or one of the two hiking trails within a few miles of the house, or the little hidden beach at the end of Cable Rd. We also watched the 4th of July fireworks from Southwest Harbor, right before turning on Seawall Rd.
Katie was a most gracious hostess and made sure that we felt welcomed and settled at the house. She was always available to answer questions and her love and care for the house could be seen throughout every inch of the property. She provided ample information on local highlights and many maps and books about the area for guest's perusal.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back!

Wonderful Vacation @ The Quiet Side
Wonderful experience renting the property for the week! Nothing compares to the Quiet Side of the island. 25 minute drive to Bar Harbor and most places in Acadia. Clean house, lots of supplies, and very cute finishing touches to give you the full Maine experience.

Can’t wait to return!
We had a fantastic stay in Seawall! The location of the house cannot be beat, and we enjoyed everything the Quietside had to offer, including the Seawall itself (with a sunset campfire at the picnic area), Acadia hikes and swims (Beech Mountain and Echo Lake were highlights), as well as the shops and Little Notch Bakery in Southwest Harbor. The house was comfortable and spacious, and our kids loved the huge yard, edged with lupine in bloom. Katie was very responsive and communicative. We hope to come back next year and would absolutely stay here again!

We had a lovely time at the house!! The proximity to the Seawall was great - we ended up going there just about every day either to spend time exploring the tidepools, watching the waves, or to catch a glimpse of the seals feeding on fish during the late afternoon. There is a great, funky little lobster shack called Charlotte's almost within sight of the house - the fish and chips is amazing!!
Some of the best hiking on Mt. Desert Island is within a 15-minute drive and the trails on this 'quiet side' of MDI are much less travelled than those closer to Bar Harbor.
Katie, the owner, was very responsive when we had questions and was a pleasure to deal with. We will definitely be staying here again!!

We had a great time here! The house was spacious with high ceilings and beautiful hardwood floors, and the kitchen was fully stocked with all we needed to cook a few dinners with groceries we bought in town. It was very clean, but using mostly unscented Seventh Generation products so it didn't smell like chemicals. Lots of windows and ceiling fans meant there was always plenty of fresh air. We had a couple rainy days during our stay, but my kids had a great time reading the books on the shelves and finding new ways to play with the board games.
The location was great, on a quiet road right on the harbor with woods right behind the house. We woke up to the serene calls of seagulls every morning, and our most conspicuous neighbors were a family of deer that passed most mornings and evenings. While we spent a lot of time in Acadia and Bar Harbor, there are also a few good hikes nearby (Ships Harbor is our favorite in Southwest Harbor, just a mile or two down the road).
The host was incredibly friendly and accomodating to our needs, and very easy to communicate with, always responding within a few hours whenever I reached out. It really made us feel welcome. Would definitely recommend!

This was a great house for a family vacation to Acadia. The house itself is on the older side, but very functional and clean. The kitchen was obviously used by someone who actually cooks (unlike some rentals I've had where there was only the bare minimum, or less) and it worked perfectly for our needs when we cooked in. The grill outside complimented the indoor kitchen and it too was in good shape and clean. The bedrooms were spacious enough for our needs as an extended family of five. Beds were comfortable and the linens provided were fresh and there were plenty of blankets to keep warm. The house is bright and airy, and well ventelated - perfect for the cool ocean breezes that come through that area. The house is located near the small town of Seawall, which has a few restaurants and shops, and there is a grocery store only about 10 minutes away. There is also a well-reviewed lobster pound nearby (Charlotte's Legendary) but sadly we didn't get a chance to try it out because they were closed on the day we decided to get our lobster dinner. Luckily there are several lobster pounds in the area and we were able to satisfy that need elsewhere. The house is also located very close to some lovely coastal hiking areas of Acadia. Bar Harbor and other more popular areas of the park are only about a half hour away, though honestly we ultimately preferred the "quiet side" areas better because of the crowds in most areas of that side of the island. The Carriage Trails on that side aren't too crowded, if you can find parking. All in all this house was a perfect base for our trip and we really enjoyed exploring the area and coming back to the house after a day of adventuring. The host was accommodating and easy to get in touch with. Great place to stay!
