About this cabin rental
Please reach out if you need an immediate booking! We have a large kitchen with plenty of counter space for cooking together. It has almost everything you need to make your stay enjoyable: a bread machine with a cookbook, a slow cooker, a pancake griddle, a coffee maker, and a Barn wood dining table that easily seats 8. There's a comfy living area, Internet, WIFI, Satellite smart TV, lots of movies, novels & kids' books, & 2 full bathrooms. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a log bed with a futon mattress under it that can be pulled out for more sleeping space. Bedroom 3 is large with 2 queen beds along with a TV/DVD player with a good collection of kids' movies that makes a great kids' room! :) Bedroom 2 is very cozy. There’s a covered patio at the back of the cabin with an upper sun deck. A front upper deck is in the shade for those hot days. We have a BBQ on the back patio & a fire pit in the backyard with firewood in the woodshed and kindling in a wood box by the back door. We also have firewood and wiener sticks in the blue shed beside the fence. We have Ladder Ball and Botchy Ball.
We're close to the lake, the local grocery store with a restaurant, a great hardware store worth checking out, and a gas station a mile west on Highway 13. Our cabin is just 100 yards from the lake where small aluminum boats, canoes & other small watercraft can be launched at the end of the road that leads into the lake. There is a main boat docking area east on Lakeshore Drive.
Our cabin is not fancy & classy but we're clean & cozy! :)
We have a pontoon boat and are happy to take people out fishing for an extra charge if we are given a few days' notice to ensure we're here. We're close by on the lot next door if anything is needed.
There are a few places you may enjoy visiting.
~ One is the Grey Owl Meadery - just 10 minutes from the cabin, west on Highway 13 and south on Highway 22. We’ve been there a few times & the owners are friendly, have free wine tasting & great charcuterie boards. Here’s their phone # & link for more info: 780-542-1413 https://greyowlmeadery.com/.
There's a new shop just 10 minutes straight west on highway 13 close to Alder flats that offers specialty coffees, sweets and a place to shop for household signs, candles, soaps, jewelry etc. It's called 'The Place'.
~ There's also Open Creek Dam located less than 30 minutes from the cabin. It’s great for swimming, fishing off the dock (stocked with trout) and they offer free day use at their picnic sights & have a beautiful hiking trail around the lake. I’ve included the link here for more info & directions. https://rimbeyfishandgame.com/open-creek-campground.
~ Twin Lakes is 30 minutes away east on Highway 13 and is a great swimming lake! :)
~ Ponderosa City is 20 minutes away west on Highway 13 and offers an Old western town and shop with western apparel, gifts, and kids' items. They can be reached at 780-388-3088
~ There's a children's playground just a few minutes from the cabin at the Buck Lake Community Hall and after playing, you can walk over to our local Buck Lake Mercantile for an ice cream cone or a slushy, or for you parents, a freshly brewed cup of coffee. :) They also make some very great fresh options like salad rolls, green onion cakes, spring rolls, cheese sticks, etc. which can be ordered in advance and picked up on Saturday morning. They recently opened a restaurant and the food is all homemade and delicious! They also make fresh pizzas and subs for take out. They have great bakery options as well! The owners are Brendon and Phea (Peaya) & they are very friendly and aim to please! They can be reached at 587-986-0452.
~ There's a small café at Alder Flats, about 10 minutes straight west on Highway 13. It's located above the car wash and they do a mean burger and have great caesar salad along with other great options.
~ Every Saturday we have a good size farmers market at the Community Hall from 10 to 1 pm.

We were a group of five lifelong friends, who just had the best time escaping the city to quiet country life. The cabin was exactly as described. It was so cosy, warm, welcoming. Our hosts Bev and Jack were unbelievably accessible and answered questions within seconds. Everything we needed for a perfect few days at the cabin were just at our fingertips. We couldn’t ask for a better stay. Highly highly recommend.

Cabin was great and the hosts were outstanding, we were disappointed with the lake as we discovered it was more of a fishing lake, than a swimming lake. However, I would stay here again, we all had a fabulous time.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The hosts were very accommodating and communicated with us anytime we had any questions. The cabin was very homey and clean and very well stocked for anything we might want. It was definitely a home away from home and we would highly recommend it.

When I say we loved Bev and Jacks beautiful cottage, that's an understatement!! We came for a girls get away from the city to be in nature and peace, that's exactly what we got!
The inside feels like home, you feel like you belong and relaxed. You get to see the passion and love they have for their property throughout - if you think you need anything extra, you probably don't, they have everything you need and more that you wouldn't think of :)
The outdoors space is very beautiful and we spent both days and nights out there as much as we could to enjoy the beautiful weather we were blessed with!
I could go on and on but this review would be a short novel - lastly, Bev and Jack were incredible hosts. You felt comfortable and welcomed by them to their space. Anything you needed, a reply was quickly received and help was happily given! Very accommodating and a beautiful family overall :)
1000/10 - we will be back!
P.S. You must check out the Grey Owl, they weren't kidding, it's also incredible and the owner Walter is amazing as well! The view, the food, don't miss out on this one!!

This is a well-maintained, well-stocked cabin, both inside and out. There was good fishing on the lake, and our hosts provided us with a number of great ideas for the days when we weren't fishing. Our hosts went above and beyond to ensure that this was a memorable vacation for each member of our family.

Absolutely loved it! The property was perfect and the hosts went above and beyond-even holding an umbrella up to shade us while we fished on their boat with them. Can not wait to come back next year, and my clients weren’t even out of the house before saying how much they will miss it.

We had a great time. Although I didn't realize that there was no swimming at Buck Lake, Twin Lakes was a short drive away for excellent swimming and water fun. We loved hanging out in the back yard and the neighborhood was nice to walk around.

Beautiful and peaceful
Awesome property... so clean and nicely decorated! Jack and Bev were gracious hosts even tho we had a few mishaps (patio table shattered when the wind grabbed the umbrella). Our only issue is that we weren’t aware that Buck Lake is primarily a fishing/boating lake and not a swimming lake with no beach or easy water access for swimming, but that is no reflection whatsoever on this property, just that we didn’t do our research thoroughly enough. But Ma-Me-O Beach is only 30 minutes away so it wasn’t a complete loss. Overall we would rate this property as best for ages 10+ whose families are into fishing and boating.
