The sunrises were absolutely breathtaking, the spa was good to relax and take in the views. The house was fully equipped and a great kitchen. Very comfortable bed, over all we had a great time.

Views, comfortable beds. Comfort but not luxury. Friendly host.
Shower quite unusable due to very poor hot water system. Mould in shower and poor maintenance generally. Overpriced for standard of accomodation. Poor security with doors difficult to lock. Need to explicitly state that guests for lunch or to visit are charged up to $50 per head. Seems excessive given the standard of the house and facilities.

Beautiful property and lovely owner

Perfect for relaxing. The views are incredible and the jacuzzi was the best place to admire them. House of the rising sun is very cozy and comfortable and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Patricia was lovely and very helpful with everything.
We couldn’t stay longer

Beautifully located on a ridge overlooking the GC coast and Pacific Ocean.
Very cozy house with all windows looking out East to catch the rising sun.
The outside fire pit and nighttime starscape was a hit with everyone.
I was sad to leave wish I could have stayed longer.

Absolutely beautiful location. Peaceful and quiet, but still only a 30 min drive to shopping centres. A comfortable house with lots of room, and great outdoor facilities. We even had animals we opted to feed and spend time with while we were there.

unique and stunning location, with amazing views.
nothing we disliked, the house was welcoming and had all the amenities we needed.

Wonderful setting and everything we needed and more. Our host did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and came to check that we were safe when a storm was forecast. Our family loved the hot tub overlooking amazing scenery and want to go there again.
Our 2 year old needed careful supervision outside.

Lovely host who met us on arrival. Patricia checked in regularly with us throughout our stay to check we had everything we needed and to suggest local events that were taking place. The House of the Rising Sun is Patricia's home so she moves out to facilitate a holiday let - she stays in a studio at the end of the house. Well equipped. Well located for access to the Gold Coast but far enough away to allow for relaxation. It was very wet when we visited so we were unable to enjoy the gardens, but nice deck area, hot tub, ducks, chickens and a trampoline to keep the kids entertained. View through the trees down to the coast.
House quite dated and tired - comfortable and functional rather than luxurious - particularly the bathroom with cracked shower screen, mouldy ceiling and sealant which could do with attention. Need to pay $300 cash damage deposit on arrival but you'd struggle to make an adequate note of all the cracks, chips etc -> we received ours back promptly at the end of the stay by bank transfer so no issues with its return.

Nothing, the stay was amazing.

Our hostess was fabulous and could not have done more for us, even posting back a phone charger we left behind. The accommodation was beautiful and had so many extras that we did not expect. The views are gorgeous and will definitely be coming back for another stay.

This place is amazing. where do I start? The outdoor jacuzzi that overlooks the mountain and the skyline of the city? The fully stocked kitchen with great appliances? The beautiful outdoor entertainment area, with dream-like lights? The comfortably decorated bedrooms? the huge living areas with books and TV? the freshly-laid eggs every morning?
Or maybe I should start with the host, who welcomed us to her house and gave us the most heart-felt tour I’ve ever experienced.
if you are looking for a group getaway vacation, this is the place. look no further .
