About this cabin rental
Our beautiful family cabin is tucked in the pines below Sawtelle Mountain’s snowcapped peak conveniently located just off Hwy 20 and only 20 minutes to the West Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The cabin is also usefully close to the only grocery store in Island Park so you won’t have to drive a long distance for a forgotten item. Connie’s restaurant is just down the way as well as High Mountain Adventures to fill all of your rental needs including kayaks, ATV’s and snowmobiles. If Yellowstone isn’t your only reason for visiting, the cabin’s location is great for other attractions Island Park has to offer such as: Harriman State Park of Idaho, Henrys Lake, and the Big Springs River. From the cabin, you have access to miles upon miles of ATV, hiking, biking, and snowmobile trails as well as world class fishing!
Aside from the great location, the cabin itself does not lack a classic cozy charm. You'll find unique and charming touches throughout the cabin along with several pieces of wood used throughout the home that came from the 1988 Yellowstone fire.
With enough beds to sleep 20, there's room for the whole crowd! There is plenty of room to gather together in open spaces, but also enough bedrooms to retreat and retire in privacy. The recently updated kitchen is fully stocked allowing you to cook a home cooked meal, either indoors or out, after a long day of adventures. We have also just improved the outside areas. We added a new covered deck in the back with seating and barbeque grill to enjoy the evening outside.
The sleeping arrangements are as follows:
Main Floor - (1)Queen bed with attached bathroom
Upstairs - (2) Two queen beds, (3) One queen bed, Two full beds & Two single beds *We call this room the 'Bear Den' with the den-like sleeping area that the kids love!
Downstairs - (4) Two queen beds (5) One bunk bed
*Please provide your own firewood
*Parking for 4-5 cars or trucks. If you have a trailer, we are located very near, just a 1/4 mile, to a large parking area great for unloading snowmobiles etc.

The property is great. It is located relatively close to West Yellowstone in a beautiful spot. We even saw a moose outside the cabin.
We were surprised to find the bedrooms in the basement did not have doors, so those staying in the basement didn’t that’s the privacy they anticipated.

The cabin was amazing. The kids loved the bear den and the hill just outside the front door was perfect for them to slide down. The older kids loved the pool table. Everything was great.

First of all, the hosts are outstanding. We had notified them that we were running low on toilet paper. They told us they had forgotten to stock up before we checked in and so they dropped everything they were doing to drive an hour and a half to make sure we had what we needed. This was on Christmas Eve. They care about their guests. The hill the cabin is built on was perfect for sledding. We went sledding for hours at a time each day we were there. I felt like a little kid again. It was a great stay. I would definitely stay here again. One recommendation, if you stay in the winter, you'll want to have 4 wheel drive. Lots of snow.

We loved our stay at this cabin for Labor Day Weekend! The two living rooms made it seem less crowded than it could have. The kids loved the bear den, especially the loft. The hosts were very easy to contact and generous.

Pros- relaxing balcony, nice barbque area, fully equipped kitchen, lots of towels, large home, impressive carved bear on poarch, nice pool table and its in a good area.
Cons- weeds were very grown up all around the house, construction material was all over the yard. Some beds are not usable but most disturbing was not all bedding is washed upon arrival. There was a letter left from the owner telling us that pillowshams are not to be washed. The firepit that is listed is not there. There's not one place in the house that does not have notes telling the renter not to do this or that, and I mean EVERYWHERE. It's the only house that we have experienced this. There's not one place that you can turn that doesn't have a note. Theres even one saying not to bed hop which is sad because not every bed was usable unless you wanted to crawl into a very small crawlspace for beds.
There's a manual left describing the area and history of the house which we enjoyed. Check out was listed at 10:30 am. Owner text the night before telling us that check out was 10:00. At 9:30 an elderly man drove up and backed his truck up so he could watch the house. He made us very uncomfortable. When he did get out of the truck, we found him under the deck. He said he was told to be there by 10:00. Another vehicle drove up fifteen mins before 10:00 . For as much as we paid, this was ridiculous. The basement that we had to use for bedrooms had a dehumidifier that has to be emptied. There is an odor down there. One of our sons did get sick. We believe it was because he slept down there. After we left that house, his sinuses did get better. For the price that we paid, we really wished we would have been told about the construction, dehumidifier and firepit. Since our family does consist of adult children that we don't see often, our plan was to sit around the firepit in the evenings. The biggest disappointment of all is how it ended. We had such a wonderful time at Yellowstone. It's a shame that the owner had people arriving before 10:00 to hurry us out of there.

This place is very spacious with wonderful privacy. The first night we arrive a giant moose happened to walk through as well! The host was wonderful and we would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Island Park Cabin
Our family enjoyed this cabin. Short trip to Yellowstone and nice and roomy. Big great room where we spent a lot of our time and got to watch a little fox out the kitchen window every morning. Would mostly definitely stay there again!

Yellowstone Adventures
The house provided a good place for our group of friends to stay while going in and out of Yellowstone. We had four couple and a single adult and were looking for a 5-bedroom home. The listing showed this as a 5-bedroom, but the two bedrooms in the basement had no door between them, thus no privacy. And there was no bathroom on that level. We had to adapt for our 3-night stay. The kitchen was large and convenient, but lacking a few things like good knives, a cutting board, and a potato peeler. The grill was a nice addition. And the visit by 4 moose on our last morning was a great treat!

Great accommodations for my large family
We traveled here from Texas for my Dad’s 70th birthday. My family really enjoyed our stay, it was a group of 18 and everyone was comfortable. Straight shot to Yellowstone park. Enjoyed fishing on Madison river, floated Snake River at Henry’s Fork, enjoyed making s’mores on fire ring, cooked homemade meals. Lots of things to do in vicinity. Lots of bathe towels and dishes. Highly recommend! Thank you Steele family! 😊
