Peace and quiet in the deep Somerset countryside near Taunton.

I went to Taunton to sort out some business and not for a holiday. Long ago I grew up in the country areas outside Taunton. Normally on my visits to Taunton I would stay in a hotel in or near the town. On this visit there was a lack of availability in town and I also wanted some peace and quiet after I got back in the evening. I decided to be more independent and stay outside of the town. After considering what was available in the Taunton area I decided to try Willow lodge which is about 10 km east of Taunton on the Glastonbury road. The Lodge is located in the deep Somerset countryside and is surrounded by nature and farming with few houses or people. The Lodge is located in a country lane about 2 km from the main road into Taunton. It is a very quiet location which I had no problems with since I was not looking to socialise. The hosts were helpful and not intrusive. The Lodge is fully independent for cooking etc. The price was reasonable and I would stay again if I visit Taunton in the future.

I had no dislikes and the hosts were very helpful and pleasant people.

Exceptional

The location was great and nice and quiet. Everything I needed was there. Would definitely recommend this.

Needs a blind or something over the glass part of the door as it lets in a lot of light Especially if you go to bed early or like a nice laying.

The quiet, rural setting suited us, as we used our time there to visit a variety of sites, and a great deal of walking,

Peaceful. Although a fairly basic property, it had sufficient amenities for every day such as cooker, kettle, toaster etc, but we found the fridge exceptionally small, given that there were no shops or eateries close by. Comfy bed. Warm and plenty of hot water for shower, washing up etc.Lovely owners….very helpful when needed.

The tv was fixed to the wall opposite a small sofa. We wanted to relax with our feet up on the bed, after long walks, but then couldn’t see the TV. A small table for use inside and out and a cushion for the wooden sheet outside would have made a difference to comfort.

Superb

Lovely place, with a modern feel. Just 15 mins off J24 of the M5. A lovely quiet place surrounded by fields. Very comfy bed. All the facilities you would need for a self-catered stay. The cabin was warm even with the chilly nights drawing in.

you can't get better than this

the location was quiet and relaxing great for walking and bike riding the building was nearly new and no nasty smells nice decor and lovely shower the owner who I met was lovely and prompt help ful response via messages

it was hot! I don't much like the dark so if I were arriving in the dark, especially in winter, it'd be great if the gates were open cos I fumbled around fir a while to open it and if I was in the dark and on my own I'd be scared

Weekend break

It was clean & nicely decorated. The milk & biscuits were a nice touch. The lodge was a good size and in a lovely quiet location with little passing traffic. The room temperature was comfortable. The shower was great with good water pressure

The mattress was really uncomfortable. There was no curtain or blind on the door, so we woke up pretty much as soon as it was light. The outside light needs to be on a PIR sensor as it was dark when we got back to the lodge, and it wasn't easy getting up the steps and finding the keyhole. You can only turn the light on once you're inside. Needed a handrail on the decking steps. My wife is disabled and struggled having to reach for the rope while getting up & down, especially in the dark.

great little place to chill out and relax we didn’t want to come home.

we spent a week at the lodge which we found it to be totally relaxing,nice and quiet,and good private outside space. good base for day trips out as only 1hrs drive to Lyme Regis plenty to see and do enjoyed our time there we will be definitely booking again.

nothing really only thing I could suggest is maybe t.v on a swing bracket and possibly a sun brolly for outside as not much shade about (we did stay in the middle of record temperatures for the U.K.)

Very enjoyable stay in this well furnished cabin located in a beautiful part of the country.

Great location, great facilities for a two person cabin. Secluded and comfortable.

The wash hand basin in the bathroom would have been easier to use if fitted with a mixer rather than separate hot and cold taps.

Great quality accommodation in a lovely, quiet location

Lovely quiet location, well thought out space, spotlessly clean and lovely & warm in the chilly nights in early April. Great welcoming touch were the eggs, milk and biscuits.

Exceptional

Spotlessly clean. Comfortable and modern lodge. Very warm and friendly welcome. Even some fresh milk and eggs in the kitchen for us. The decking and chairs was a nice area to sit and relax. Car parking space right next to the lodge.

It didn't spoil the stay, but would have liked to watch TV in bed. Maybe the bed could be moved or a TV bracket.

Get this booked!!!

The property was excellent, very clean & very modern. The layout of the property & facilities is brilliant. You have everything you could need, there’s a lovely boat club (10min walk) to sit beside the canal & enjoy a drink too. Verity & Michael are excellent hosts, thank you for the opportunity to stay in such lovely accommodation.

Nothing I didn’t like apart from leaving.

Proper break with no WIFI interuptions can use Mobile Phone if needed.

Perfect base for visiting nearby Uphill (Weston Super Mare) about 20 miles away where we spent our honeymoon many moons ago. Beautiful Countryside. Canal boat center in walking distance where you can take a canal walk if you wish. We visited Wells and Dorset. Love to do a weekend visit again sometime.

Benefit from having a Parking app on your phone for visiting car parks at Seaside places. This does not have any bearing on the accommodation. Just maybe helpful to know as many car parks do not take cash at this time.

Peaceful Lodge

The property was very clean and comfortable, having eggs, milk, tea and biscuits there for our arrival was very nice! The lodge is in a peaceful area within walking distance to the canal, which was a lovely couple of hours spent walking around. There are a couple of good places to eat within a short drive/walk to the lodge, but driving further to get to do more activities is needed. There is all the necessary equipment at the property which is very helpful, and a very comfy bed! Owners were lovely and responsive to any questions we had. We would definitely recommend anyone looking at staying here for a few nights and would happily return in future.

Very cosy and comfortable

It had a lovely kitchen, very smart and clean. The shower was large and easy to use. The whole lodge was very nicely done and felt very cosy. Lovely balcony/garden area which was very nice when sitting in the sun. Comfy bed with good sized tv. All perfect for a little get away.

All was very good, maybe shower could of been more powerful.
