Hotel in need of renovation which is currently being undertaken. Staff in the restaurant were not attentive enough in my opinion. One evening we had to ask for drinks 3 times.

Unhappy experience. Boring food, unprofessional front office staff. Spa was awesome

The Spa and how well the treatments were. Extremely professional and friendly. Highly recommended spa👌 hotel room was comfy and the toilet was good especially the shower.

Disrespectful and unfriendly front office manager and staff. From the time I arrived to the lobby. Wasnt provided a welcome drink and towel while other non solo travelers were attended too. Had to carry my own bags to the room. The front office manager was the worst employee I've ever dealt with and was extremely rude. Tried to over charge me for meals and came up with some nonsense explanation which has nothing to do with the guest blaiming the head office. when i made a noise regarding it so other guests could hear he asked me what i want just to shut me up. Extremely unprofessional and sadly this hotel has lost its way especially with staff. Same menu everyday for breakfast which was boring.

A wonderful stay

Absolutely beautiful location and architecture. Rooms had a beautiful view and were spotless. The Spa experience was great and the therapist Prima was very professional and courteous. Overall the front desk staff and other staff were very good. The breakfast buffet had good variety too.

Some areas of the hotel looked neglected and is in need of renovation.

الفندق غير نظيف و الغرفة غير نظيفة أبدا لدرجة أني رأيت حشرة فالحمام ، طلبت منهم مكواة و طاولة و أحضروهم الطاولة غير نظيفة و المكواة متسخة و قديمة ، تعامل الموظفين في الاستقبال و المطعم غير جيد لا يحترمون النزيل أبدا ولا يملكون تعامل حسن كريهين جدا

A relaxing holiday

Was very clean. Staff very friendly. Food, in the most part was good - not excellent though. Pool guys were excellent

Some staff were more attentive to some guests and not others - probably knew they were going to get a huge tip!!! Reception staff not as good as the other staff.

Not what we expected

hotel staff is very nice, breakfast and dinner were good. we really liked the pool.

beds were very old and not comfortable, we had a triple room and they have provided a very uncomfortable single bed to make it triple room, you can feel the springs in the mattress and it was very uncomfortable and I couldn't sleep well. the funny part is I'm the one who chose the hotel for everyone and paid.. the other room's A/C didn't work properly and they have switched to another room with the same issue.. We had A/C in our room.

Great resort for families with children

Pool was great for the kids. So much space for guests and privacy. Rooms on the new wing were nice and modern with ample space and a good view. Breakfast and dinner buffets were well organized, very tasty and a good spread. The local Sri Lankan food was also very tasty. Staff were very good. Special mention to Kalinga running the bar in the day service by the poolside. Lifeguards deserve a special mention, as very helpful to us and the kids.

A bit of roof maintenance and construction on site but that didn't affect any party of the trip except for certain facilities like the library to be temporarily out of commission.

good are the 2 separate Pool's / Staff is VERY helpful, extremely nice , we had a wonderful time and will come back Its a place to relax , not having bar's / Pubs around the corner which is great.

Great hotel to spend few days to relax and have fun

Our stay was exceptional, even the standard rooms have all the facilities including bathrobes and slippers. Pools are very clean and big. Food was great, loads of varieties, specially morning buffet was perfect.

Not a fan of everyday live music in the lobby, it gets bit loud and uncomfortable when you wanna have a chat. Staff is very nice, sometimes the conversations felt little bit "robotic", but that should be caused by high customer service standards.

The buffet was good. Variety of snacks. Lovely decorations.

Cosmetic repair is required for all facilities. A lot of flies in a room and in a restaurant. Not sure about the quality of alcohol (local). The only working bar (before the pandemic there were 3 bars). Not enough sun loungers.

Got the premium ocean view but I didn’t have a good view of the ocean. My view was obstructed by trees and that was disappointing. Tried asking staff if they could place me in another room but due to lack of a availability, this could not be set up. Please see attached photo.

Mediocre

The best thing about this hotel is the nature. You will be surrounded by monkeys, birds, chipmunks, iguanas (who may sometimes even swim in the pool :) ), little crabs, not to mention dogs, cats, fish in the ponds, and all kinds of insects, big and small. The territory is pretty green and provides a lot of natural shade, saving you from sunburn. Massage in the Spa was good. The room we were in was pretty spacious and featured a beautiful view over one of the pools and a little "chunk" of the ocean. The food was good, and the selection was quite interesting, mixing local and more "European-oriented" cuisines in a balanced way.

In terms of service, this is the worst experience we've had so far :D. I travelled through over 40 countries, and nowhere did I see the personnel so chilled - but not in a good way :) Restaurant & bar team easily forgets your order, and even when they don't, you can wait for a simple coffee in a bar with 2 tables occupied for over 0.5 hour. They graciously add someone else's drinks to your bill (8 glasses of wine instead of actual 2? easy!) Moreover, some of them literally beg for tips, and when you tip them, it doesn't mean the service becomes any better. I had a birthday on the first night of our stay, but the reception forgot to inform the restaurant, so we went to ask for a candle. On the same evening we asked for refill of water, coffee and tea in the room (we didn't get a refill on that day, so we called the reception to ask for it as they themselves advised us to do), but instead a boy came with a brewed coffee charged extra... The room keys didn't work on one day, so we had to go all the way back to the reception to then be escorted back to the room by the maintenance guy who spent quite some time fixing the issue. Oh, and as for maintenance, you simply can't be left in peace here - e.g., laundry man barbarically opens your door even with the DND sign on... Last but not least, on arrival, my bank card didn't work, while on the check-out it did. Quite strange. Luckily we had another card. Will I recommend this hotel? Not really. Maybe only for 1-night stay to enjoy the beauty of nature. But if you want nice service and a proper care you would expect for this price, avoid this place. :)

We'll be back!

Beautiful old hotel that's retained its old bones- which we liked as we like the idea of a story being before us. Gorgeous beachfront and pool. Loved all the birds. Food good and great cup of tea! Staff really nice and helpful

Hawkers right on the beachfront immediately outside the hotel, which felt a bit unsafe, but that's just a personal thing, did notice other guests enjoying that.

Booked for my friend who came to SL for his wedding. They did not get the room I booked and on top of that their manager lied to them and me that they did not have any deluxe rooms avaliable which I booked one month prior. Absolutely feeling disgusted about these type of low level treatment.

Best hotel in down south Sri Lanka. Food, staff, rooms, pool and everything els was the best!

The Heritance Ahungalla Hotel is the place you need to visit, Absolutely the best hotel we have stayed in by far. We have two Children and whom experienced the Heritance with us and we’re so looked after from start to finish, with everything you would need from stunning nearby beaches, relaxing swimming pools mind blowing food rooms to die for and out of this world views. Every staff member at the Heritance Ahungalla are so friendly and efficient at what they do they really do make you feel the true Sri Lankan Experience. A special shoutout to the beautiful kind ladies in the reception and the very kind restaurant staff, they all treated our two daughters and us really well and that’s something special. The Heritance Ahungalla has everything you would need from the food which is not just a variety of cuisine from all over the world as well as traditional Sri Lankan dishes. The swimming pools are cleaned and sterile overnight ready for the next morning, the live music was a touch all of its own and a great thing to come across.

There is nothing we didn’t like, Everything was perfect!
