The property itself was beautiful and is an amazing location (we can’t wait to go back). The ocean and beach are literally right there. The pool and jacuzzi were amazing. The locals and staff of the building were extremely welcoming.
The condo itself is dated but that was expected. It was charming. The air conditioner will only work to cool the condo if all doors are kept closed at all times. The toilet chain and handle gave us a hard time and need to be replaced. That was it though. We spent most days out on our lanai soaking in the sun and eating food that we shopped for from Tamuras or the local farmers market. We were able to wash our clothes and bathing suits every other day with the in unit washer and dryer. This place is a true gem!

Dirty property with missing blinds providing no privacy at night. Sticky cupboard doors and sink. Broken light and lamp in bedroom. The only nice thing about it was the view

Condo was fine, but could stand some updates.

This was the worst short term rental that I have ever stayed in. We have stayed at this condo building many many times and have been staying on the Westside for 20 years. I have never had such a dirty ran down unit. First up the large amount of hair on the walls of the shower, next the mold in the shower along with the moldy bath mat. The inch of dust on the dresser and entertainment center. The floors were so dirty we had to wear our shoes. This until was not clean at all. I have never wanted to leave a unit so fast. Do yourself a favor and rent a different unit at the Princess. I did read past reviews and would expect the owners to update the problems in the unit. No handle on the fridge, lights not working, every dish was sticky and dirty. We did not cook in the unit as it was very dirty. Glass slats on the front door were missing and was a safety concern. The only pro is the beautiful beach and view. Hopefully you can update this unit and work with the cleaning crew to provide a better experience in the future.

I booked this condo because of the view. It was fantastic!! the condo is outdated, it could of been cleaned better. Had to call owner ,we needed new ice chest, a beach chair & umbrella. She was there within 1 hour. Staff was really nice at the condo. Makaha is not a tourist town, but we found everything we needed

Very dated, small ants in bathroom and kitchen, for the most part was clean. Beautiful location, if not for that, I wouldn’t rent it.
If place was completely updated, it would be worth it.

The Hawaiian Princess is a beautiful property.
However this unit was appalling.
I had to scramble for checkin documents as they were only sent to me with promoting the day before checkin when promised 2 weeks out.
Getting into the room the door lock is damaged and should be repaired. It does not close properly The bathroom was filthy so we cleaned it ourselves. The kitchen was appalling. The roof tiles are broken cracked and missing. Cabinet doors are water damaged and hanging on hinges. The stove is old rusty and had sugar ants crawling on it. Patio furniture rusty I could go on and on. This unit needs a Reno desperately. I would not book it again or recommend it to anyone. THE HAWAIIAN PRINCESS is lovely but this unit is appalling. They should be removed from VRBO until repairs done.

Incredible views and a mostly private beach. Building and condo itself is dated and needs some work and upgrades to get 4 or 5 stars. Regardless, I would stay here again for the views and the beach.

Condo is a great location but needs updating. Coffee pot did not work.

Being right on the beachfront and watching the waves crash from the lanai is the best part of this property. Unfortunately that’s where the positives in this review end….the interior of this condo leaves a lot to be desired. When other reviewers stated that there was quite a bit of deferred maintenance they were not exaggerating. Several lights (overhead, lamps and kitchen) were out, coffee maker didn’t work/broken, toilet handle stopped working 1/2 way through, bed was so bad dear hubby had lower back pain for days, overhead fans were very weak and the bedroom one made a weird squeak noise the whole time, broken slats on front door’s lower window, no fan in the bathroom, fridge door handle gone and both fridge and freezer smelled fishy, dishwasher didn’t work properly, and lastly surfaces were pretty dusty/dirty. Oh, and be aware there’s limited toilet paper and paper towels to be used and both soap dispensers had been watered down so they didn’t have to refill them before our arrival. We knew this place was a bit dated, but we were in town for a funeral, not a vacation so we needed something available in short notice and that was as affordable as we could find. In hindsight I would’ve definitely spent the extra $20-30 per night to have stayed at a different condo on this property. We really enjoyed the location and many other condos have been renovated with better amenities.

It was just what we needed for this trip. Quiet and right next to the water. We will definitely stay there again. It could use some upgrading on appliances but it was the best trip we’ve ever had so older appliances didn’t change that. Would recommend.

The peacefulness and solitude of this lovely little beach condo cannot be beat, far from the hustle of Waikiki. The condo itself is pretty basic, yet offered everything we needed throughout our stay. Probably not for someone looking for a fancy/high end resort feeling place to stay, but that's not us : ) Would 100% stay here again.

We loved the stay. It was like visiting an older relative’s house. Outdated but everything in working order. Place was clean, had plates, kitchen supplies, beach chairs stuff for swimming. We had a beachfront view. It was beautiful. The staff of the building were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely book it again.

Stayed 5 out of 9 days on this property and my family thought it was their best experience. We absolutely loved waking up to the sound and view of the waves and roosters crowing. We were so lucky to have found this place. Place was outdated but had everything we needed….We weren’t interested in fancy so long as it works. Jeannie responded immediately to our needs. Overall amazing experience!!!

The oceanfront location was good, the condo not so much. There was much deferred maintenance. Refrigerator did not have a handle. All throw rugs need to be cleaned. Most caulking in bathroom old and yellowed. Door screens did not operate properly. Several repairs needed, if the condo was really clean and routine repairs taken care of lack of property update would be overlooked. Instead a very tired looking condo is what you will be renting.

It was a great stay we all enjoyed the area and beach.

We received check in instructions 2 days before our trip, in all capital letters, outlining all the things we must not do. The entire property is smoke-free, except for a sketchy corner near the pool (if this had been in the listing, we would have passed on it). The beach has eroded away to nothing but rocks. Wifi is listed but password was not communicated until we contacted the property manager. Listing says there is beach gear, but we couldn't find it...until the last 2 days we were there. It was behind heavy, broken sliding doors on the lanai. Only 1 side of the sliding glass door from the until to the lanai was operational by a human of normal strength. With the beach outside the property unusable, we had to travel to other beaches daily. Huge camps of homeless people on all the beaches, not many restaurants on this side of the island. Main security gate broken when we arrived. Not a bad experience for the money, and it was quiet and not crowded. The locals we met were helpful and kind. But the listing is inaccurate, and communication is lacking in timeliness and tact.

Amazing views but this place is gross. No door handle on fridge, cause its broke. Gross stains on carpet in bedroom. Bed super uncomfortable. Screens on sliding doors came off. Doors on lanai storage area just propped up against wall. Its dated from the 70s.
The area this rental is located in has the highest # of homeless on oahu. Fact. Look it up . Most of the beaches are taken over by homeless tents. Crime rate is extremely high in the area. The beach in front of rental is mostly used by locals. Homeless cut through all day, they have their tent homes set up on both sides of beach of rental. Again beautiful views and sunsets just not safe or nice.

No information at all. Where to take the trash, any info on where the pool is located or anything. Front door had huge gap and wouldn't latch unless deadbolted. Felt unsafe for a single woman traveling with her 2 daughters to stay.

The beach and the view alone are probably worth more than what we paid. The condo itself was a little outdated but served our needs perfectly. We were able to BBQ with our family most nights and the kitchen served us well. The area is very local and there are no upscale restaurants near by. We did find a good place 30 minutes away that worked out fine. I would recommend this place for the beach and the privacy alone.

Beautiful view
If you are looking for an inexpensive place to sleep, cook, and watch TV with a fantastic view; this is it. We loved being so close to the ocean. Yes, it's dated and in an older part of the island. It's also 50% less than other places and has a private beach. Do your research. We had a great time at the Hawaiian Princess!

Beautiful spot, private beach, secure parking and security
Other than a large number of homeless in the area, the condo was in a perfect spot for enjoying the private beach and views. Everything was provided for enjoying the beach. We got quick responses to all our questions and needs. Enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful view
Beautiful view, comfortable bed, but the place needs substantial renovations.

Great beach but positives end there.
Very outdated place. Everything run down. Half of electrical didn’t work properly, lanai sliding doors impossible to open and close. Had to buy our own light bulbs because half were burnt out. Also has to buy toilet paper and paper towels. Very minimally stocked kitchen.
The beach however was beautiful!

It was okay
The condo was everything we needed and the beach was great! The condo as well as the property is dated. The price was right for the location. The property management people were terrible. I sent messages with a few questions with no response.

Very dated
While there is a beautiful beach and view, our problem with the property was how dated it was. Many things did not work correctly. The refrigerator handle was missing, the slider didn’t want to slide and the front door windows kept falling out.

If you're looking for 5 star accommodations, this probably isn't the place for you, BUT, if you're looking for a place that is sandwiched between one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii and the spectacular west shore mountains, look no further! Unit 206 is dated and a bit run down, but it is very well stocked...we cooked at home pretty much every night and the kitchen had everything we needed! There are beach chairs a beach umbrella, and a bounty of beach towels thoughtfully provided. We wanted to be in a quiet, secluded place, away from the crush at Waikiki and the Hawaiian Princess was the perfect getaway from it all! Enjoy waking up and going to sleep to the sound of the surf, the breathtaking sunsets (with the sweet sound of a conch playing posse each evening!), sea turtles in the surf and hours on the lanai!!

Hidden Gem
The condo itself is definitely outdated, but works just fine! When we arrived, the room we were supposed to stay in was missed on the cleaning schedule so we had to stay in a different room for the first night. Not a big deal. The location of this condo is absolutely beautiful. I'm not sure you could find a more scenic part on the island. There are definitely quite a few homeless people around, but they don't bother you. Apparently this has only started when covid hit. I would definitely stay here again, but I do recommend having a rental car that you can use to drive around. All the residents were very friendly with us as well.

Nice Condo!
The room was great. parking and beach access was secure and excellent. Didn't want to stay in heavy traffic area of Waikiki or Honolulu and this place was perfect. it is a bit of a drive to get to Waikiki/Honolulu area but the scenery on the drive was perfect. Definitely worth it.

I love that the property is right off the beach and easy access to it. and it's not too many tourists. It's almost like we have our own private beach. The people that stayed including guests and locals were very nice and helpful.
What i don't like about it is that the staff were not onsite everyday. Our toilet was broken...we had to flush the toilet by taking the lid off. other than that...i would definitely come back to this place though. the toilet thing was just minor compare to how beautiful it was to be on the beach any day/time of the week.

Got what we wanted!
We chose this property because of the listing pic primarily. We wanted a place away from the crowds and hustle of the city.....never saw more than 30 people on the beach. Thankful for the amenities of the property....kitchen stocked cookware wise, just add food! Also loved all the things you would need for hanging out on the beach all day!

Unbelievable Views
Property location is great if you are looking at staying on the west side of the island, actual property could use some updating but was clean, easy access, secure site and waking up to the beach everyday!
