Situated in lovely town. Our kids loved the play park right opposite the road. Comfortable large cottage with small garden. Huge master bedroom with view. Family friendly and safe for toddlers.
When we arrived before 5pm the heating was not switched on so the house was cold. Very small amount of firewood was provided for the indoor fireplace (4 logs). We were staying for 3 nights so had to go out and buy more wood. The the hob was a little dirty and had to be cleaned. there were also some food bits left of kitchen floor (which were not cleaned before us)

A beautiful big house in a lovely village location.
We rented the house over the Christmas period for 4 nights with our children, their partners, and our baby granddaughter.
Lots of space to cook, eat and relax.
Plenty of hot water and the underfloor heating and wood burning fire meant we were very toasty and warm
Unfortunately on closer inspection there were a number of issues and essentials missing for our Christmas get away. However, we contacted the house keeper (who was genuinely appologetic) and some of things we had raised were rectified and/or provided immediately, and the maintenance man came out on Christmas Eve and fixed the bigger issues.
We had a couple of trips to the shops to buy other items that were meant to be provided but weren't, which obviously came at a cost.
On our return home, we again contacted the house keeper to give her an update on our experience to help future guests, which she was grateful for.

the property is beautiful inside and out. the kitchen is well equipped and really good if you like to cook in the evening instead of going out. there’s lots of space and the garden is well tended.
Unfortunately, we were there when local farmers where bailing and shifting straw around the place. The cottage seems to be on the main road through the village. We were all woken up very early a couple of times by tractors and trailing zooming by. it’s probably not like that most of the time.
we travelled to the house on one of the hottest days this year and all had food in our cars. I tried to ask if we could access the house to put things in the fridge then leave again and return at 4pm, as we’d arrived about half 2. the answer was no, which I thought was particularly unhelpful and inflexible. Thankfully, the local pub let us put things in their fridge whilst we waited for 4pm to arrive.
it only rained once whilst we were there, and water started to come through the ceiling in the kitchen. we managed to strategically place tea towels to catch the water so it wasn’t a disaster.

Location was fab - literally a 1-minute walk from the local playground which was lovely! Close to the village shop + gorgeous to walk around and discover streams and brooks. The house is just lovely with massive sofas and tv etc + a lovely family kitchen, gorgeous garden area - the seating isn't really in the sun in the afternoon - we went in late August, but you can easily move the sunloungers onto the grass to catch some rays! The Table tennis room was a hit with my 5YO too! also there are tons of board games too to keep littles + bigs alike entertained.
There was milk, dishwasher tabs, washing stuff, salt pepper, and some other basics, that I guess had been left by previous peeps which were handy, so many spices, teas, coffee pods for the Nespresso machine, hot chocolate... everything you need, and more!
The garden planting was beautiful, it's all been designed by a very talented garden architect and we left feeling very inspired for our own garden planting!
Generally, all was fantastic, but not having full-length mirrors in the other 2 other main bedrooms (there were very small ones above drawers) was disappointing, sounds silly but I defo want big full-length mirrors when I'm away. I'd recommend popping some in for the next guests. xx
