Our stay here was so lovely that we didn't leave the property for three days after we checked in. The rooms and the hotel property are beautiful, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and the drinks and food were delicious. The bed was amazing, the showers were hot, and the pool was clean. We have absolutely no complaints.

Small, only a couple of rooms
Boat rides to nearby beaches included
Good and drink orders take surpringly long

How do I start to describe the best hotel experience I had. Arriving at Mida Creek Hotel was like entering a quite oasis. You enter a kind of community hidden among the mangroves and the jungles by the shore of the creek. You can draw parallels to the movie "the Beach", in the sense of serenity, reclusiveness and beauty.
You can go to the hotel by boat, driven by captain of the hotel, a kind and professional boatsman and fisherman. He also does sunset flamingo tours which we took and were absolutely impressed by! Hotel is also reachable by taxi, which the hotel can organize for you, strongly recommended!
The hotel is isolated (which is a strong point), you are not bothered by salespeople or crowded beaches like in Malindi or Diani beach, and you have the creek almost to yourself. Even if you develop cabin fever, the captain is always to boat you. Staying isolated at the hotel won’t make you gastronomically bored either, as the hotel has managed to find the best chef on the Kenyan seaside! The menu has good varieties too, local food, burgers, pasta, seafood to name a few! It was one of the greatest food experiences we had in Kenya.
Hotel quality is impeccable and is kept super clean and tidy by the greatest hotel staff we encountered – anywhere in the world. From cleaners to the barmen to the pool boy, they all contributed to making our stay as great as possible. It felt like you were staying at a family run hotel, they were all so kind, caring and sincere. The hotel also has that very local vibe, you truly feel Kenyan culture there. And you live in nature, literarily! Greenery, animals and birds are plentiful. Amazonian I would say.
Special thanks to David, for being such cool guy and also organizing such memorable kayaking trip through the mangroves.
It might sound too good to be true, but it actually was. The hotel had something that no other hotel we have stayed at has had – that feeling of arriving in a special place. Just like in The Beach.
After discussing any suggestions for improvement, we couldn’t really advise anything other than making sure to keep the place as it is. Having any hotel in the environment like a jungle, creek or sea will take its toll in the long run. Working on keeping it impeccable is the only advise we could give. And also to introduce at least one more breakfast option, for a few days the current breakfast menu is good but after a couple of days more a variety would be nice.

Beautiful location, charming place and very friendly bartenders and house staff. The captains who took us across the basin are very skilled. We had a great kayaking experience.
Communication could be better - it took a few days and prompts to get transport, a spa session was cancelled, but nobody bothered to convey that.
Bed pillows and bed mattresses are uncomfortable.

I loved how private the property was, it felt really secluded and intimate. The staff were really attentive and friendly, and made incredible food and drink! Food and drinks were 10/10!! I loved the room (Beach Banda), it had a beautiful view from the balcony, the bed was very comfortable, the room was spacious, and the shower pressure and temperature was fantastic. Also, the free boat ride over to Watamu town was a great bonus!
It would be great if the bar could open a little longer, and also if the resort was exclusive to adults. Also, if there could be some netting in the Beach Banda room to prevent monkeys from trying to come in, that would make the experience even better!

Absolutely brilliant stay at the Mida Creek. The staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. We loved the food, and tried some from nearby with the complementary boat shuttle service to the busier side of Watamu. The hotel offers rental of paddle boards which we really enjoyed, and a private snorkelling session with the Captain was relaxing and informative. The private beach is great, when the tide goes out you can walk around the creek or sip in the sea when it’s deeper. We also loved the breakfast with fruit and cooked dishes, lots of coffee and fresh juice each morning. The waiting and kitchen staff made efforts to accommodate our cravings, with a days notice they sourced ingredients from the local market. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating stay!
Can’t think of a thing!

We enjoyed our stay at this cute little hotel very much in particular when staying in the room on top with an amazing sea view. The hotel has only 6 rooms so there are not many guests and you feel really private. Moreover, the whole hotel area is beautifully designed with regional furniture and plants. You feel like living in a jungle with a certain comfort (hot water, Wi-Fi etc). What we enjoyed most was the fact that you always had to cross the Creek with a boat to get anywhere. Some might find this unpractical but we enjoyed the boat ride each time and to us it felt even more as if we are living in a little oasis. The staff pays a lot of attention to your needs and is more than friendly (we stayed almost two weeks and felt like home). Finally, this place is definitely the best choice if you prefer an authentic stay in Kenya and if you expect to relax and forget about the outside world. Even if you want to explore the surrounding, the hotel staff will try to make each wish possible. We can more than recommend this place and extended our stay two times !
We thank the staff for an amazing holiday experience and hope to come back soon again.
Due to the mediocre electricity supply in kenya,, we had everyday cut outs from hot water and WiFi. This is an overall issue which does not only affect the mida Creek Hotel. We only regret, that it was often necessary to mention this power cut outs to the staff before they would turn on the generator. Furthermore, the prices of food and drinks in the mida Creek are far above the average in watamu. Even if the quality of food and drinks was amazing ( especially the dinners cooked by our favourite chef!!), we felt it was a little bit overpriced.

Hotel exterior and room interior, views, staff was very nice and the service is impeccable, good kitchen, nice pool, good wifi all over the place, attention to details from the manager - even the music playlist and the volume was just perfect. Overall, definitely a place to recommend!
The mattress at the Palm Deck was a bit short.

if you need something specific they can arrange it quick! the boat for instance

The location is great with lovely views. The complementary boat service to cross the creek is also a major bonus. The rooms are large and quiet. The pool is small but very enjoyable.
There is a sign in the room saying "Strictly no Food or drinks from outside." This is a major mistake. The food on the premises is very highly-priced even the water. There are no coffee and tea-making facilities and no fridge in the room. Basically, you are forced to eat and drink all the hotel food and beverages with the location of the hotel this removes a lot of the enjoyment from the stay. It would be a nightmare with kids.
9.0
Nice modern ambiance & grounds. Comfortable room & bed. The view from the bar is beautiful & serene. Refreshing clean pool. Located on the water, swimming in the river is possible & enjoyable during high tide. The property is cozy. Friendly & helpful staff all around. Also there is a small outside gym. WiFi Ok in most areas. Mangrove boat trip is recommended.
Breakfast variety is limited & tend to be redundant. Limited free supply of drinking water is offered. No fridge or heating kettle in the room. You’re far from stores so prepare accordingly.

Property is very modern, nice clean spacious rooms, clean bathrooms, very nice outdoor gym, staff was very friendly and always helpful for any questions!
We were not aware that the last boat to cross to or from Watamu was at 21:00 until we arrived. was quite hard to plan the day around this. Taxi by land takes 40 minutes and costs 4.000ksh, so just be aware of this! Breakfast could have been better, would be nice to have yogurt or cereal, not just eggs :)

The staff was efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. They made the whole stay feel like home away from home. The food was awesome all through our stay. I also loved the peace and quiet, really got to rest well
Due to its remote nature, if you don't plan for transportation on time, you can be completely stranded

WIFI should be better
