For that price you can't get same or similar or anywhere else on the island. And since our flight was cancelled this was the only and surprisingly very good option. We had private bathroom also.
Beds are a little bit worn out. And wifi only works in the loby.

Nothing
Avoid at all costs. First time i looked for another hotel while staying there.
The bed was absolutely awful. I booked 4 nights and after the second one I had to leave. Never felt so many pains from bad sleep.
The breakfast is also very cheap: the simplest bread possible, milk, and a piece of fruit.
3.5

View from communal lounge was lovely
No windows in room at eye level. Roof window unable to open or close without the receptionist bringing a ladder. The room had rotten wood hole in the floor from rain damage. The corridors and rooms had a sewage smell. The shower cubicle had a flimsy shower curtain which meant the bathroom floor was drenched each time the shower was used. The cleaner didn’t have a spare key so our room was never cleaned. The breakfast selection was poor and there was a completely necessarily aggressive sign about breakfast allowance and waste charges. The Wi-Fi didn’t work unless you were by the reception desk and even then was exceptionally slow. We were expecting a hostel and have stayed in many hostels around the world but unlike all the others, this one had no guest kitchen or laundry room so in essence it was an overpriced basic B&B. THIS IS NOT A YOUTH HOSTEL. Do not stay in the family rooms.
2.0
Location, view, customer service
Mildew smell in lower rooms and no kitchen facilities
0.5
Nothing, the hostel is a disgrace
Unbearable mold stink
Highly uncomfortable and awfully noisy beds
Zero sound insulation
Unhelpful staff and dismissive booking service
No wifi at all (neither in rooms nor in common areas)
Terrible breakfast (disgusting coffee, mediocre quality of bread/cheese/cereals, frozen fruits (not seasonal), no jams, no eggs)
Their labeling as "sustainable travel" (although barely level 1) is a fraud

Not too much
The rooms on the ground floor are way too humid. Fungus in various places, floors that are coming up and big dark stains on the doors all due to the humidity. This is definitely unhealthy. The owner already knows about it for more than a year, according to the receptionist, but he’s on another island and does not care too much. Start caring and do something about it.
5.0
located outside the center of the town, which is an advantage, because it is quiet and peaceful; room and bathroom clean; stable internet access with good speed; comfortable bed
3.0
The breakfast was good. The staff was nice! It's a cheap option (good price). People are quiet.
The wifi is not good at all. It smells really bad in the room and in the hallways of the hotel. In the bathroom, there's so much humidity that the towel won't dry within a day. It's impossible to let dry your beach towel and swimsuit.
2.5
It was fine enough hostel, and pretty central. The staff were also very sweet to help out
The beds were absolutely terrible and it’s really inconvenient you are not allowed to use kitchen, fridge and utensils.
4.0
It was pretty good, the beds were comfortable, breakfast is okay.
No fan or clima in the room

Great view to Pico island, good location, very clean and confortable. Perfect!

20 minutes walk from the port (if you arrive, just like us, with the ferry).
Reception is open only after 16.00

It looks sketchy, but it turned out fine. Overall everything was just fine; the rooms, the beds, the shower, the breakfast etc. I must say I was in a 4 person dorm on my own which did make my stay very pleasant. Sometimes the room was too small for just me so I cant imagine staying with 4. Large parking and okay location, do need to hike up a little but hey its Sao Jorge, what do you expext. Also the staff was just very nice, any questions you could ask them and they were very helpfull.
The rooms had no lockers, which I don't like when I stay in hostels. And the bathroom doesn't have very good ventilation so it stayed wet and foggy in there for a long time.
3.0
The view and the communal spaces are good.
The price was good
The beds were kinda bad, there was no cell reception in the room, nor WiFi. The building smelled really bad and the breakfast was lacklustering.

We liked Kevin a lot. He was super helpful with regard to all our questions concerning hiking routes or the weather. He also recommended a good taxi service.
Beds are comfy.
Bathroom was not very clean when we came.
3.5
Beautiful views, comfortable furniture. Small room but ok for 4 and own bathroom. Whole hostel kept clean. Good breakfast. Near a supermarket
WiFi only worked for maximum of 10 mins before going off. No access to kettle or fridge. No washing machine
3.0
Clean, breakfast was good, nice view.
It was extremely basic with no facilities (no fridge, kettle etc). Wifi was almost non existent. It was only near the reception and it could not cope with the number of users. Even when connected it was very slow. There were annoying cows outside with bells attached and it disrupted our sleep.
3.5
The room was big enough. Big common area. The breakfast was very good for a hostel (buffet with different options).
No kitchen, no fridge, it's very hard to make/get food.
The window in the room didn't close at all, so everyone could just enter the room, since the room was in the basement.
4.5
very nice hostel, the single/double rooms are actually hotel-like rooms. Very clean and quiet, beautiful view.
The hostel is not in the "center" of Calheta , but it has a big supermarket very close, a restaurant, and also a beautiful natural pool in a walking distance ( 10-15 mins) .
The port is about 20 min walk so if you have heavy luggage better take a taxi. There is a steep climb to do, albeit short. I can recommend to young / fit people, after all it is an hostel
2.0
Very modern and panoramic structure in Calheta. Common spaces are very comfortable. The breakfast is good for the accommodation level and price.
The beds are terrible: sleeping three nights on them caused back pain.
There was a terrible smell like sewer in the bathroom and the common corridor. When asking for clarification at the desk, the clerk ignored me and pretended not to understand.
There was no ventilation or conditioning in the room: with the heat that we had in those days, we had to keep the window open during the night, with all the lights off, not to attract insects from the trees.
3.5
-breakfast is nice
-reception staff is very friendly
-I had the female dorm room all to myself for 2 nights
-filtered water dispenser
-great location: supermarket + restaurants are a short walk away, and so is Faja grande, the beautiful natural swimming pools
-another great trail (Serra do Topo - Faja dos Cubres) is quite near the area so I was able to get to the starting point with a little bit of walking (1 hour) + some hitchhiking, which is good considering that the island is HUGE and the distances are much bigger than I expected!
-breakfast starts too late (8.30) compared to the Pousadas in Santa Maria and Pico where it starts at 7.30
-the first day I got to the dining room at 8.50 for breakfast and most fruit was gone and there were no eggs left... I asked staff if there were any more eggs (being still quite early in the morning!) and they said no
-bathroom inside the rooms have no windows, so they often stink of mold/sewage. I had to keep my bathroom door closed while in the room because it stank
-when you have a shower, the whole bathroom floods because the curtains apparently are not good enough
-no kitchen (but staff was nice and gave me bowls and cutlery to make a salad when I asked them)
-corridors also smell badly (mold?)
-when you open the balcony window at night, lots of moths (once I had something like 10 of them flying around the room) come inside the room attracted by the light... so I suggest to open to the window at night only with the light turned off
2.0
great view from the common area
personell seemed bother by any request (for example re-filling the breakfast table which was empty when we arrived)
4.5
Great location and central to most activities. Easy to find. Spectacular views of Pico Island. Walking distance to restaurants and natural swimming pools. Breakfast in canteen style and it is ok
Breakfast. Better coffee and cereal offering
3.0
Staff and view
Heat in the room, no chance to ventilate (only a but, by keeping the door of the room open as much as possible (incl. at night!). Moreover, unflexible in booking/reservation and assigning (two lower) beds.
