About this apartment rental
The Hideaway is a beautifully styled self-catering holiday apartment overlooking the village green in the picture-perfect village of Great Massingham. Only a short drive from the glorious North Norfolk coast, you will love the quirky style of this adorable property.
This one-bedroomed accommodation is perfect for long holidays, short-stays and mini-breaks, The Hideaway is sure to become a firm favourite with Norfolk Hideaways guests. Styled and furnished beautifully by its owners who have used the large space available to create a wonderfully relaxing and unique home stay, it is light and spacious and has lots of warmth through the choice of colours and also the cosy wood burning stove that is the focal point in the sitting room.
Being right next door to the renowned Cartshed tearooms, you may wish to place an order to be delivered up to the apartment during your stay, be it breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea or maybe you might be craving a big slice of homemade Victoria sponge or a mug of the Cartshed's own label coffee! But if you do want to rustle up supper 'at home', then the well-equipped kitchen allows you to do this easily too. With a lovely stable door allowing you to let the sunshine in while you cook and a balcony just outside at the top of the oak staircase, you can enjoy supper or breakfast with a newspaper whilst relaxing on the bistro table and chairs.
The sitting room has views on three sides but mainly overlooks the village green and is perfect for a relaxing evening reading or watching the television. At bedtime, you can retire to the large bedroom with its king-size bed, dressed in the highest quality linens. After a busy day, run a large bath (with bubbles of course!) and soothe your muscles, or wake yourself up in the morning with the impressive monsoon shower, before deciding how to spend your day.
This apartment ticks all the boxes; good local food, an excellent, well-stocked and charming village shop, a renowned pub/restaurant serving good food and ales; and beautiful walks and cycling from the doorstep. Make sure you do explore the rural tracks and trails; or if you want to feel the sand between your toes, then jump in the car and head north for 15-minutes where you'll find yourself at one of a number of beautiful north Norfolk beaches such as Brancaster, Holkham or Wells-next-the-Sea.
Great Massingham is one of Norfolk's prettiest villages and the apartment's outside space and small terrace at the top of the oak staircase overlooks The Church of St Mary and its grounds. The green is a great place to also relax, head over there with a rug and good book, but remember that you may have to share your space with the large number of resident ducks and geese who have also made the village ponds their home.
Additional Information:
The apartment is located above the village shop/deli and accessed via an external oak staircase.
The duvets and pillows are feather.
One well-behaved dog welcome (small additional charge).
Sorry The Hideaway is not suitable for children.

A trip down memory lane.
My husband was born in the bedroom of The Hideaway, so this was an opportunity for him to see what has changed in 67 years!
The flat is beautifully presented, very comfortable, warm, cosy and has everything you need except a tea cosy! GT Massingham is a beautiful village and this gem fits in perfectly.
A major drawback are the access stairs. To comply with building regulations, the treads are wide spaced metal grates. Unfortunately, this means that unless your dog has freakishly large feet, they will be unable to stand on the stairs! This meant that we were having to carry our dog up and down the stairs EVERY time. We have spoken to the owners (who are lovely!) and this is an issue they are looking to resolve.
We got round it by placing flattened cardboard on each stair, but it wasn't ideal.
We would suggest checking out whether this has been addressed if you are taking a dog as my husband almost fell down the stairs trying to carry ours.
Price wise it doesn't compare favorably to other holiday rentals in the area, which are bigger and have gardens.
Overall this really is a gem! Tx
