▲ The Chalet is located quite high up on Ski Mountain - prospective guests should take note that they will have to drive up a steady incline and the roads are winding and curvy. In a number of places the road can get narrow as well. When arriving first time, we recommend arriving during daylight for the best visibility.
❆ For bookings in winter time, you should expect to encounter adverse weather conditions (snow, ice, etc) and slippery roads. It is the guest's responsibility to be prepared for this - bringing a car with all-wheel drive and winter tires would be wise.
- No parties.
- No smoking, vaping, inhaling, injection, or general usage of any recreational drug or substance anywhere on the property at any time. There will be a discretionary fine of up to $500 if there is evidence of drug or substance use during your stay - this includes (but is not limited to) odors in the house, leaving behind substances or litter e.g. cigarette butts, leaving behind paraphernalia, etc.
- Pets are allowed on a case by case basis, with advance written permission from the host only. A one time pet fee of $250 will apply for up to 2 pets. Please include your pet in the guest count and the pet fee will be automatically included in the reservation.
- No blasting of music or excessive noise.
- Each month the house undergoes preventative treatment for pests. Sometimes rodent traps are present in the house - they are explicitly installed in areas where they cannot be accessed by animals, kids, etc. (e.g. behind the fridge). For this reason, appliances are not to be moved. All other treatments used in the house are non-toxic to people or animals.
- There will be charges for excessive cleaning and maintenance if rules are not followed and the house is not left in good condition like you found it. This includes, but is not limited to, excessive trash, leaving dirty dishes / food, dirty grills, dirty hot tub, broken items, etc.
Bears:
It's not unusual to see bears multiple times during your stay. I hope you are able to! Bears are usually docile and uninterested in people. They frequently wander through the neighborhood to look for trash during the day. However, never forget that they are big, strong, wild animals and you should always assume they are dangerous.
1. Never feed the bears under any circumstance or leave food or trash outside. Bears learn to expect food and come back to the cabin to harass guests. This can make bears behave aggressively towards people and become a danger. It is not safe.
2. Never provoke bears. Do not approach, attack, touch, or otherwise engage them. If you unexpectedly encounter bears outside, slowly and calmly distance yourself from them. Carry air horns or bear spray when outside.
Never put yourself between a momma bear and her cubs. A momma bear will get very defensive of her cubs and you will be in danger.
3. Lock your vehicle at all times and remove all traces of food! Local bears are smart and know how to open car doors! They can smell food inside very easily. A number of guests in the area periodically have their vehicles broken into and can suffer damage to the interior. Don't make this mistake!
4. Keep all house doors closed and locked! Especially the front door. You will have food in the house and bears frequently walk by the front steps. Please follow this rule! If bears get inside the house, we will have to hold you responsible for all costs involved to remove the bears and fixing any damages! Not fun for anyone!
5. Be careful with small children and animals. Don't let small kids play outside or leave any animals unattended. Never let them near bears.
We aren't responsible for property damage or if someone is injured from a wild bear. Please make sure you follow the above rules, local and government recommendations and guidelines, and use common sense.
Minors:
For those bringing children/minors with them on their trip, an adult must supervise them at all times. Kids are never to be left alone in the house, for any reason.
We are not responsible for any incidents that arise because a child was not supervised properly.
Hot Tub:
1. Hot tub is for adults only (18+).
2. Make sure to shower before entering the hot tub!
3. No drinking of alcohol in or before entering the hot tub. This is very dangerous as alcohol amplifies how much the hot tub increases your body temperature and can lead to fainting, dizziness, etc. This is for everyone's safety!
4. When finished, please make sure to replace the cover on the hot tub and turn off the jets.
Please do not add anything into the hot tub water. This includes, but is not limited to soaps, lotions, oils, bubble baths, etc. These can damage the tub machinery and require a lot of time and work to flush from the tub for the next guest. If our cleaners have to clean up from your party not following this rule there may be extra charges from our cleaning company.
The hot tub must be completely filled above the jets for it to function and heat properly at all times. Before each stay, we ensure the tub is filled properly. Do not remove water from the hot tub or allow the jets to suck in air at any point - this can damage the tub and prevent it from heating. If water unintentionally splashes out, please ensure the water level is restored above the jets using the hose nearby.
The hot tub is meant to be powered on and remain on continuously (it goes to sleep when not in use). You should only be interacting with the electronic keypad on the edge of the tub for everyday use. Do not touch the hot tub shut-off breaker or attempt to disconnect it from power except in an emergency. In a case where you tripped the emergency disconnect, you should let us know right away.
Trash:
There are trash barrels located inside metal bear bins next to the front steps for your use. These are used to hold trash and kept chained shut to prevent bears from getting into garbage!
Please ensure that all of your trash is bagged, goes inside the bear bins, and that the bins are chained shut. Any unprotected trash will immediately attract bears who will tear open bags and happily toss garbage around the property! This requires our cleaners to

We planned a week long family vacation in this beautiful cabin, and it did not disappoint. We range in age from 2 years to 76 years with 6 adults, 4 children and one dog. This house was comfortable and fun for all! The theater room was truly like being in a movie theater! The game room was fun for all ages. The hot tub was wonderful and clean. I would love to tell you about the restaurants in the area, but we loved the house so much, we ate all meals there. We enjoyed every inch of this big cabin. The kitchen is fully stocked with nice pots/pans and plenty of dishes. The ice maker did not work, despite prompt response from Andrew (property management). We bought bags of ice when we made grocery runs, so not a big deal.
We all had plenty of space to gather as a group but also to have time alone. I particularly enjoyed the balconies in the morning and evening. We saw plenty of bears!
We were a short drive to downtown and the entrance to the national park. Some other reviews comment about the treacherous drive to the house. I have to agree! It truly depends on which route you take. I figured out quickly to avoid Alpenrose! If you are adventurous, take that road. If not, take if from me, there are kinder ways to get up the mountain. In fact, "Alpenrose" has become one of the family jokes.
Andrew was amazing from my first inquiry about the property until check out! Even on Sunday, which happened to be Father's Day, he was quick to respond.
I highly recommend!

My family and I (9 total, 3 generations!) had an absolute blast here! The house was situated perfectly for everything we wanted to do during our time in the Smokies, just a short drive from the park, Gatlinburg, Dollywood, etc.
The house itself is fabulously equipped. Whether it was morning coffee on the porch overlooking the most perfect views or winding down after a good day's hike with a movie, it had it all. My nieces were particularly thrilled with the arcade downstairs while the adults were stoked by how well stocked the kitchen was (all the appliances and utensils one could ask for).
Communication with our host, Andrew, was fantastic. Check in and check out procedures were timely and thorough. When we did run into one small issue, he responded promptly and worked with us to resolve.
Overall, a fantastic experience and our whole group agreed this is the best rental we’ve had for any of our family trips.

We had an unbelievable stay for New Years with our family in this cabin. It took 10-12 minutes to get from the cabin to downtown Gatlinburg, which made coming and going a breeze. The cabin had everything we needed for a week to be entertained and relaxed. The game room and movie room were definitely highlights for our teens, and grilling on the balcony with breathtaking views of the mountains and the city kept the dads happy. There was plenty of space for our group of 8, we can't wait to go back again and will renting this dream of a cabin again.
We did see a tiny black bear cub on one of our drives to Gatlinburg, which was amazing and we got light snow 2 of the days we were there. All in all, one of the best VRBO experiences we've had.

Great stay, we surprised our adult children and grandchild with a stay here. At first Glance they were all in Love. As soon as you walk in and see the surreal view your heart just melts. We had Breakfast and Dinner at our cabin every night Thanks to the large kitchen area, large stove and dining room table. The BBQ grille was also in a great location looking over the mountains. We will be booking again. Oh I almost forgot about the clean hot tube and cool game room. Love it all!!!!

This was our first time in Gatlinburg and first time using VBRO. The host was very responsive, and the home exceeded our expectations. Details on check in and check out were easy to follow. The advice on not navigating road at night is accurate. Very treacherous road leading up the mountain but the views are worth it. Many wonderful family memories playing pool, poker, and enjoying movie nights in the amazing home theatre!

We had 10 friends/couples staying- plenty of room!! We all had our own rooms with bathroom. Enough space for us all in the kitchen/dining- amazing kitchen, fully equipped. We spent time out on the porches watching the bears, grilling, playing board games and enjoying the views. Andrew was very responsive and the property was incredible. Absolutely would stay here again.

Our stay at this cabin was great! The views from the balcony were incredible and everything was clean and orderly when our family arrived. A bonus was we got to see multiple black bear sightings (from a distance) which the little ones loved! I would definitely recommend this place to others!

My extended family of 10 LOVED our four days at Andrew’s property. Everyone had bedrooms & bathrooms, the adults loved the porches/balconies, our four teens spent hours in the game room, and we all had our places in the theater room for our movie nights!! And we all enjoyed the antics of the daily visits from our mama bear and her three cubs. We had an absolute blast!!!

Great location with space for everyone. Hot tub was a little small but water being drained between guests makes it worth the size sacrifice. Could use a deep clean on the carpets. Technology for the theater needs to be a bit more simplified, too many random remotes and not much direction.
Bears outside, it was awesome! Just be careful!! Would definitely stay again.

1. The cabin is beautiful inside and out ! The layout is amazing and there is SO much space. The best part is every bedroom has its own bathroom which is amazing !
2. The game room / hot tub and theater makes it to where you don’t even have to leave ! My kids were entertained the w entire time (as were my husband and I) with all the different things to do !
3. The location is the ideal because you don’t have to go through busy Gatlinburg to get to it yet you get the incredible views of Mt Leconte without the traffic ! The views are breathtaking and every deck has a view that you could sit and stare all day !
4. We saw a bear one night while sitting on the deck closest to the woods. A huge black bear walked right by in the woods at the end of the cul de sac ! (This cabin is the last one on the cul de sac) so it wasn’t too far from us at all !
5. Finally, the host was awesome ! We were able to figure basically everything out but the couple questions we had he answered immediately and was super nice and helpful ! This cabin has everything you could ever ask for ! We’ve visited the area 5 times in the last 2 years and this cabin by far is the best one we’ve stayed in ! Thank you for an amazing stay !!!

Perfect rental for a family get together. The bedroom on the main floor was helpful for grandparents who can’t do many stairs. There are handrails on both sides to help with the couple of entry way stairs. The kids loved the game room and everyone loved the theater! We saw a couple of bears on the drive up and had one get into the bed of one of our trucks in the driveway to try to get into an empty cooler! Andrew was very responsive to any questions that came up. Would definitely stay again.

Great views and perfect theater and game room for the kids and adults to enjoy. Make sure you lock your car doors - we had a bear brake into our friends car - luckily no damage. Wish the hot tub was a bit larger - but overall a wonderful vacation!!!
