Every summer the family takes a week to go fishing, swimming, boating, and floating. Pharoah's Retreat was a good choice this year. Plenty of room, nice dock, and a great recommendation for a pontoon boat. Caught fish, swam at the dock, and wandered the area. Great time had by all.

The house was perfect for my family. Plenty of room and very comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Beautiful and clean. We would definitely rent again.

We booked Egypt Lake Cabin for my father's 90th Birthday. It's almost 1/2 way for each family to meet for this special occasion.
We loved this house/cabin. Very spacious, very clean, with a full main level and another lower level with a complete living room, and walk out door that leads down to the lake. My husband enjoyed several days of fishing, catching large bass and more blue gill then he could count. He loved it!
There is plenty to do in the area, for shopping, Marion is about 20 minutes away, small grocery store in Goreville, State Park within 20 minutes. There is a KOA Campground less than one block away, for extended family. There are lots of places to walk, and the cabin had two kayaks for guests to use.
We are hoping to make this an annual trip. We have stayed at several VRBO's throughout the years and this one is right on the top of the list. We would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends.

Great place to stay.

We enjoyed our time fishing, boating, and swimming (in October!). The house was comfortable and big enough for our group of nine.

Very nice place and great location.

My mom and dad lived on the lake. We came back as a celebration of them.

5 adults and 4 children stayed here and there was plenty of room for all. The bunk room was nice for the kids. The beds were all comfortable, the kitchen was very nice, and bathrooms were updated. Having the pontoon boat available was a perk as well. We rented it two days.
Communication with Allison was awesome!!! She got back with me quickly if I had any questions. I especially loved the link for the app that gives you wonderful information about the house and area. Will definitely stay here again and rent with this company!

Great location on Lake of Egypt! The house is an open floor plan which we enjoyed. The two decks also made for great relaxing areas. The beds were comfortable, bedrooms had plenty of closet space. The cabinet space in the kitchen was amazing! Everything was clean upon arrival. Thank you for a comfortable stay!

House was very clean and the location was nice. We were there in the offseason but were lucky enough to have a pontoon boat day. We were able to enjoy the kayaks too. Great little spring break! Thank you Allison for your quick responses to our inquiries. Highly recommend this getaway escape!

Our family celebrates our Christmas in July at the lake each year. This year we chose this property to house our kids and grandkids all in one place. This became the gathering spot for our entire weekend. It worked out very well. The amount of space was perfect. The kitchen and dining area are perfect for a large group. We highly recommend.

A group of 3 couples stayed at the propoerty. It was very large with a very convenient pontoon rental onsite. 3 king beds with 3 full bathrooms was a key feature. We would book again

The house was roomy and clean. Allison was very responsive. Great location. The internet service was spotty, however, and cellular reception wasn’t great either. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time.

We had an amazing stay. The house was perfect for my family and stocked with everything we needed to make meals and enjoy our time together. Having the boat available to rent made our stay even more fun!! The owner was great and communication with her was easy and she was very responsive when we needed to ask questions.
The welcome packet helped us find a great little beach to visit too!!

The house was perfectly sized and equipped for our combined family getaway! The boys enjoyed fishing and playing in the yard! The property manager was always available for quick answers to questions!
Thank you!

We had a great stay…… Allison was wonderful to work with and would respond to my questions right away…..WiFi was down in the area the day we arrived so entry code didn’t work and she replied within 2 minutes giving us the back-up code…… house was clean and roomy and loved sitting on the decks having coffee in the morning!!! Only suggestion I have in this is from several homes we’ve rented from VRBO in the past that have done this and it was very helpful…… place little labels above each light switch it does make things easier!!’ 🤷♀️😂 would rent this home again!! We were very pleased!!! Bonnie F

The good:
This house fit our group comfortably and we had a great time. The location was great (next door to Egyptian hills resort) and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the proximity to the lake/ dock, really enjoyed swimming and the pontoon boat and kayaks!
There are several things I should mention- some of which I consider major safety hazards.
The house was large and had the basics, but several things were in disrepair- lights out/not working, broken dock ladder, outlets not working, ice maker not working.
It wasn’t the cleanest - while major things in the house were clean, corners have been cut- junky stuff in closets/garage, stuff left under beds, outside was dirty, icemaker not working, there were some personal effects left in a drawer.
Our internet did not work the entire time we were there (we did notify the managers during our stay, and I specifically asked about this prior as I had read a review where this was an issue). The manager offered a personal hotspot, but it wasn’t up to the full task. The TVs were streaming only- so if no wifi…. Then what?
Our sewer backed up the first day and we couldn’t enjoy sitting on the deck due to the smell. (As homeowners, we understand this happens, and the situation was addressed on Friday)
Major concerns/safety issues:
Privacy- The bedroom window in the basement was lacking blinds over the bed- mirror was directly across from the window….
The front porch was lacking stairs and a small paver was placed as a stair. (We had several people in our party trip and almost really injure themselves)
There was a very large water runoff ditch that has been formed in the driveway.
Deck hand railing was sketchy to say the least
The hot water coming out is SCALDING hot, so much so I wouldn’t allow my kids to take a shower without supervision
The property managers showed up two times without prior notification to us.
The first to fix a broken ice maker (yes, it was broken, but we didn’t call about it) and the second to take the pontoon boat to be fixed.
We had no issues with the boat the prior day, and he seemed confused when I said we had the boat for two days.
If we hadn’t been on the porch, the manager would have taken the boat and we could have been confused/thought the boat was stolen.
Both times, we should have received a text or call to us telling us he would be there.

We’ve rented for years on LOE and this house was the best one yet! The location was perfect. The house had everything we needed for a fun weekend. Having the boat available to rent was so convenient. Everything was very clean and well maintained. We will definitely rent here again!

It was a nice big house on the lake with ability to rent pontoon and they have some water equipment that was fun to use. Lake water is nice and warm. They have a nice upper and lower deck. Before our stay when I booked the rental the owner did not respond back to me about questions I had until I asked them twice. She would say I’m checking on that and you would never hear back. She did respond during our stay. She was accommodating about our pontoon rental. Did have to contact her about missing supplies in the house and she did bring those right away. The ice maker was broke and no way to make ice so had to go buy some. They did not offer to go get us some. No internet or ability to watch tv during our 4 night stay. Very nice pontoon. Their driveway had big gullies you had to watch for when walking around to load or unload vehicle. The hot water heater was set at an extremely high temperature so kids could easily get burnt even when you warn them. You barely turn hot water on and it steams and easily burns adults too. Very dangerous. The first welcome email had a lot of inaccurate information about a different house and not even the house we rented. Had to keep asking for updated accurate information. She didn’t contact me when info had been corrected.

Overall it was very good, that is for 6 men all over 70 in good physical health only interested in fishing and playing cards all night. If you was wanting to spend some time watching TV it was not good.
There was no Wi-Fi internet access all 3 days that we were there. That means no TV and only our individual phones using up our own data plan access to the internet. The host was very good about working on fixing the problem the first day in coming to house and working with the provider on fixing the problem with no success. The host worked with the provider the next day and the problem never was resolved. I think there should be some compensation for the lack of internet access as that is a major point in picking a place to stay.
We had 2 boats and made use of the dock provided which was very nice to have. Although it would have been nice if the light would have worked by the dock for night access to the dock. The fish cleaning station was good especially with the over 50 fish we had to clean but would have been better if the water pump by it was working. I know the covered area of the dock was not offered it in the listing for use but it doesn’t show the pontoon boat that was in it when we was there. We will not be back next year as having the covered dock area for our boats is a top priority for us.
Some things for easier access to the house that did not cause us problem but could for some is the lack of a proper steps to the front porch instead of some loosely laid bricks. The rock drive way also has some huge ruts in it to walk over to get to the house and could easily get your car stuck in if you did see them if backing in.
