We are not a hotel but true to the vacation rental experience, which is we want to share our special location with you. We strive to keep our cleaning fees low, and we are generally 1/2 our competition on cleaning fees, but we expect you'll help us keep up with everything as you go as well. Some folks are looking for hotel standard everything or an vacation rental just like they stayed at in some big city. Thats not us ... we are catering to those of you who want seclusion, your own piece of heaven and of course the BEST views in Blowing Rock. We are 5 secluded acres in the woods ... our reviews feature guests who enjoy that experience and the occasional guest who doesn't get it and worries they may run into bugs & spiders outside, gets worried about a drive on a mountain gravel road, or didn't get it when we said we are "off the beat path". We are off the beaten path, come in enjoy the experience, know what we are about on the way in .... and thats why you booked us. We also do allow some pets under 50 pounds that you discuss with us prior to booking. We do not provide any food of any type, including coffee, especially during COVID. Thanks for looking at our cabin!
From the unmatched, far-reaching views along the Blue Ridge Parkway, to the quaint storybook mountain village, Blowing Rock, North Carolina is truly deserving of the title: "Crown of the Blue Ridge." Here you'll find popular family attractions including Tweetsie Railroad and The Blowing Rock, a plethora of unique downtown shops and outlets, and outdoor adventure ranging from hiking and biking to spelunking and bouldering. It's a venue for adventure, but also a place for ultimate relaxation. Indulge in a spa treatment, sample scrumptious vittles at our award-winning restaurants, or enjoy the hospitality at our local inns, bed and breakfasts, resorts, cabins or hotels.
Other things to note :
Please read our house rules . You must agree to these rules within 48 hours of booking via an online electronic “I Agree” statement back to us that you agree that your stay is bound by these house rules. We do this in leu of a written contract, we are happy to provide a written copy upon request.
Pets are only welcome if we discuss them in advance of booking your trip for our approval, including their type, weight (we allow under 50 pounds always, but ask us if larger), age (No puppies or cats ever!) and number of pets (generally we allow 1, but if they are very small maybe two if they already live together), always with an added fee per pet, agreement to use a pet crate if you ever leave them in the house and always let me know if you plan to bring one in advance of booking. Pets are not allowed on or in beds or on furniture.
Guest count - When you book with us we will ask you your guest count, this is then used for COVID-19 awareness and cleaning planning. You can not change or add guests without notifying us for approval. We reserve the right to not approve an increasing guest count prior to the trip, and we reserve the right to stop your trip if your guest count increases without asking our permission first. We hope you understand, but we do not just turn our cabin over, we require communication prior to guests being added regardless of the cabin’s potential for more guests.
After 4 guests we reserve the right to add a second cleaner for an additional $100. We try to keep our prices low when the guest count is low, after the first four guests we charge $35 per night per guest extra on all stays.
The Cabin is in the Mountains. The approach to the cabin means that you are comfortable driving a road in the woods, including driving up and down small gravel roads. Snow & ice are conditions you may find December 1 through March 31st we provide a shovel and a limited amount of rock salt at the cabin. Are you prepared for Snow and Ice for you, all guests, and your car is a question you must ask yourself when visiting us during the winter. We can’t forecast the weather, nor can we make it stop if it starts :-). Hence you need to be certain you can take care of yourselves and car (snowchains, or AWD, or 4x4 are the best options). In the event of a winter storm during your stay we will instruct you on where your vehicles will be placed for your safety, this may involve a short walk from that location to the cabin door . In general snow fall is light and usually melts the next day. Most of the gravel road is county maintained and thus cleared, however the last .5 miles up to the cabins is in a private neighborhood where snow removal is a group, best can do, best effort basis. That said we drive our Jeep 4x4 through all snow in and out of the same roads all the time, and we are used to snow. The winter months are wonderful months in Blowing Rock, great for a fire, some out door hiking, tubing, skiing and hot tubing, pls be vigilante on the weather as its usually in a forecast, and you can put yourselves and your cars in the right places for total success.
We are providing you a License to use our Cabin similar to that of renting a car, as a licensee you are bound to the cabin rules at all times, and you forgo the rights of a "lease" or "tenant". Violations of our cabin rules can result in your immediate removal from our cabin, by renting our cabin you agree to these terms. If you'd like a full copy of the license please let us know in advance and one will be provided to you.
WIFI - Its Satellite based. That means it has a delay and is not ideal for 2 way communication such ZOOM. Second it means that during a storm the weather can cloud out the connection and your WiFi may degrade. Most guests have found it great, streaming is possible if the weather is good, and we’ve had guests work and play in our cabin with out issue, but we do point this out as there are no buried cables or fiber on our remote properties.
Fireplace - Cabin is equipped with a gas fireplace, with an automatic timer panel to control the fireplace. We’re here for support on fireplace use as needed.

We like to escape the coastal Georgia summer heat for a few weeks each summer. This property was near family, big bonus! The cabin was very well equipped and comfortable! The view of Grandfather Mountain is beautiful!

We had a lovely stay at The Big Round Cabin. We were there just a couple of nights and wished we could’ve stayed longer. Good communication, easy check in and out, comfortable furniture(sofas, chairs, and beds), gorgeousspotless cabin throughout, and breath-taking views.

Wonderful home & location. Great family memories

This is a beautiful, well maintained cabin at the top of a long mountain driveway (the driveway does wind around and is steep but it is in the mountains lol so nothing crazy that you shouldn't expect with a mountain top cabin) with great views at the top. Perfect weather even with a little rain, great porches with seating, a grill and hot tub! The inside has 3 bedrooms, all very spacious, plenty of room in all areas, two full bathrooms (one with a great jacuzzi tub!) and a half bath with laundry. The owner provides all necessities of toiletries, detergent, dishes, towels, linens, etc. It was an easy drive to Blowing Rock and surrounding areas like Boone, the Blue Ridge Parkway and not that far from Linville Cavers and hiking trails. It was so peaceful and relaxing. A smooth process from start to finish making an even more relaxing stay. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in a great mountain getaway.

I love this property. Perfect spot to just have a nice peaceful stay with the family. Close enough to Boone and Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain but far enough to be off the beaten path and enjoy true peace and quiet.

Cabin was super clean. That has always been a question with a vacation rental but the cabin was spotless.
Pictures of the views are accurate. We loved the quiet and the long views. It was a wonderful experience.

We loved this house. The views were breathtaking. There were games and books for us to use. The space was clean. We loved it!!!

This was a quick getaway and our first time in the NC mountains. The views were beautiful. We spent our time enjoying the quietness, reading in front of the fireplace and just a lazy few days. The house was very clean and comfortable. Will definitely want to come back again.

We loved this round house especially the views and the location is very close to the shops and restaurants in Blowing Rock . The house was exceptionally clean which is very important to us ! We will definitely be looking to book this round house again next year !

This cabin was perfect for us!
*I saw in one review where a smaller vehicle made it up the driveway just fine...we had to put it in 4wd in our Tundra a couple of times. I'm sure front-wheel cars have an easier time than our heavy truck.
*This place is SUPER CLEAN! We were very impressed.
*The views were incredible - from inside the house (with all the windows) and outside on the upper deck, and from the hot tub on the lower deck.
*The hot tub was super clean also. The jets were perfectly strong for us. Please note there is about a short, 25-step walk to the hot tub on the lower deck. There is no direct access, from the house directly onto to the lower deck. This wasn't a problem for us, just a note for anybody that needed to know that.
*The kitchen was very well stocked. The online photos make the bathroom and kitchen look a bit cluttered-this was not the case at all. Very clean without clutter.
*The upstairs bed was very comfortable to us and we are super picky about our mattress.
*We watched the sunset each night!
*There were plenty of towels for the bathroom and hot tub.
*We love the Blowing Rock area and hope to return to the Round Cabin again. We packed in a lot during our 3-night stay. Beech Mountain, a couple of breweries, a vineyard, The Speckled Trout, Mast General Store, Fred's Mercantile Store up on Beech, Banner Elk lunch, The Blowing Rock...
*The owner's communication was perfect and we just loved the house! Thanks for the opportunity to stay!

Impressed by Chris' attentiveness...with Winter Storm Ember approaching, he called before we arrived and was at the property when we drove up to make us feel absolutely safe. He succeeded; we never worried and had an amazing time.
The everychanging view (cloudless or clouds in sunshine/snow every part of the day) was magnificent and breathtaking from the gorgeous living area with the many, big windows (with fireplace in the middle) without even going out to the deck.
However, on the round deck, the view seemed unreal..even saw our first snowbow.
The entire house was amazingly cozy and spacious, everything we could need was there and more.
We enjoyed the jet tub with the heat lamps above and of course the hot tub:D
Thank you for such a memorable stay!!!

We had the best stay at the big round cabin! The location was perfect with its proximity to downtown blowing rock. The views of the sunset on the porch were incredible! We took advantage of the hot tub and fireplace as well. The cabin had everything we needed and more. Highly recommend for mountain weekends!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Big Round Cabin!
PROS: The kitchen is well stocked and there are plenty of sheets, pillows, blankets and towels, many books, games, everything. We only used the master king bed and it was comfy. That’s on the main level and the other two bedrooms are on lower level. All rooms and bathrooms are spacious.
The hot tub got plenty hot and is clean and easy to use. Fireplace is also easy and really adds heat. The host gave us detailed answers to our questions and was delightful and helpful when I met him there. Super quiet and private location. There is another cabin nearby but not occupied when we were there. But the real star of the show: The view! It’s gorgeous, lovely for coffee on the deck in the morning and wine at sunset. Soooo peaceful.
CONS: Streaming and any internet not good in the evening. Our host got us dialed in with the DVD player so we were fine. Phone reception can be spotty; we went outside and down driveway a bit to get connection. BUT this is usually the case in the mountains so not a big deal.
My Kia Soul made it up and down the road fine in dry weather. It was nice to only have a few turns to remember and some paved roads. Blowing Rock is a delightful town to visit and also check out the Moonjoy Meadery in Lenoir.
We loved our time at this cabin and can’t wait to come back.

Views were spectacular. House was spacious. We did not get to try hot tub as we forgot our bathing suits.

Beautiful cabin with glorious views. Quiet and secluded. The place was perfect for us. Loved the hot tub too. Owners were amazing. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Our family had a great time at the big round cabin. The hot tub was great and the view from the deck is amazing! It could be a challenging drive up the mountain for some but worth it. It was definitely a unique place to stay and close enough to Blowing Rock we could be there in 10-15 minutes but not so close to be in the hustle and bustle.
4.9
The property was quiet, secluded. The view of the mountains was absolutely breathtaking.
Comments by the owner about steepness of drive were accurate. I’ve never seen a road as steep. No issues from me on this visit, but be aware!
Overall, very pleased with the visit.

We spent four nights at the "The Big Round Cabin” and had a wonderful time! The cabin was very clean and well maintained. It contained everything we needed and then some. It was our first time renting through VRBO and it was a good experience. We had a few questions about what to bring and the owners responded quickly with very detailed information. The cabin is secluded and that is exactly what we wanted. It is just a few minutes away from Blowing Rock; secluded, but still very convenient. The owners provided great instructions. Once we were there, we did not want to leave. We liked sitting on the deck, enjoying the amazing views, listening to the birds. The sunsets were beautiful! Watching the sunset from the hot tub was a highlight. The same views can be seen while sitting on the sectional, enjoying the fireplace. Love the gas logs with the timer! We had a great time and look forward to going back!!

We stayed here while eloping in the mountains and it was the perfect place to celebrate such an important weekend in our lives. Thank you for a beautiful property and easy process.

My Wife and I stayed there for our Honeymoon. Could not have picked a better place. House was very clean and comfortable and the views were spectacular. Owners were great to talk to. Will be back again

The cabin was very nice and secluded. It had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the hot tub was very inviting. The weather was nice considering it’s winter time. We had a fire in the fireplace that kept us nice and cozy. We loved staying in the cabin and would have loved to stay longer. We would highly recommend staying here.
4.9
You simply cannot get better than the views from this cabin! The sun sets, in all her glory, behind the ridge-line and you have a front row seat from the deck! The bed is super comfy, the shower has great water pressure, and the water gets hot. It is a mountain road, to get to the cabin, so be prepared, especially in the winter. But once you arrive - it is so worth it. Being able to bring our pups along, for the adventure, was such a bonus. They had a wonderful time exploring all the sniffs. I'm so glad we choose this as our 2022 Christmas Cabin.
