About this cabin rental
ZERO IMPACT FROM HURRICANE HELENE ... Fantastic modern cabin on the same ridge as “The Blowing Rock”! 7 minutes from down town Blowing Rock, Secluded deck with view of profile of Grandfather Mountain. Soak in the hot tub, enjoy the night stars which are amazing.
A private cabin, your own place in the woods based around the area know as Rocky Knob, down the road is a 19th Century Cemetery, and for the adventure-some wander our land into National Forest, find our streams and small waterfalls are all with in your grasp on our own property. A covered front deck lets you sit out in the rain while the extended porch wraps entirely around the house! The ancient apple trees on the house ground date back to the 1800's when the property used to be on an orchard that was on the original wagon trail from Lenoir to Blowing Rock. At the right time of year you can harvest your own apples, previous tenants have made pies for enjoyment and desert! Come enjoy the mountains with us ...
We are not a hotel but true to the vacation rental experience, which is we want to share our special location with you. We strive to keep our cleaning fees low, and we are generally 1/2 our competition on cleaning fees, but we expect you'll help us keep up with everything as you go as well. Some folks are looking for hotel standard everything or a vacation rental just like they stayed at in some big city. Thats not us ... we are catering to those of you who want seclusion, your own piece of heaven and of course the BEST views in Blowing Rock. We are on secluded acres in the woods ... our reviews feature guests who enjoy that experience and the occasional guest who doesn't get it and worries they may run into bugs & spiders outside, gets worried about a drive on a mountain gravel road, or didn't get it when we said we are "off the beat path". We are off the beaten path, come in enjoy the experience, know what we are about on the way in .... and thats why you booked us. We also do allow some pets under 50 pounds that you discuss with us prior to booking. We do not provide any food of any type, including coffee, especially during COVID. Thanks for looking at our cabin!
From the unmatched, far-reaching views along the Blue Ridge Parkway, to the quaint storybook mountain village, Blowing Rock, North Carolina is truly deserving of the title: "Crown of the Blue Ridge." Here you'll find popular family attractions including Tweetsie Railroad and The Blowing Rock, a plethora of unique downtown shops and outlets, and outdoor adventure ranging from hiking and biking to spelunking and bouldering. It's a venue for adventure, but also a place for ultimate relaxation. Indulge in a spa treatment, sample scrumptious vittles at our award-winning restaurants, or enjoy the hospitality at our local inns, bed and breakfasts, resorts, cabins or hotels.
Other things to note :
Please read our house rules . You must agree to these rules within 48 hours of booking via an online electronic “I Agree” statement back to us that you agree that your stay is bound by these house rules. We do this in leu of a written contract, we are happy to provide a written copy upon request.
Pets are only welcome if we discuss them in advance of booking your trip for our approval, including their type, weight (we allow under 50 pounds always, but ask us if larger), age (No puppies or cats ever!) and number of pets (generally we allow 1, but if they are very small maybe two if they already live together), always with an added fee per pet, agreement to use a pet crate if you ever leave them in the house and always let me know if you plan to bring one in advance of booking. Pets are not allowed on or in beds or on furniture.
Guest count - When you book with us we will ask you your guest count, this is then used for COVID-19 awareness and cleaning planning. You can not change or add guests without notifying us for approval. We reserve the right to not approve an increasing guest count prior to the trip, and we reserve the right to stop your trip if your guest count increases without asking our permission first. We hope you understand, but we do not just turn our cabin over, we require communication prior to guests being added regardless of the cabin’s potential for more guests. After 4 guests we reserve the right to add a second cleaner for an additional $100. We try to keep our prices low when the guest count is low, after the first four guests we charge $35 per night per guest extra on all stays.
The Cabin is in the Mountains. The approach to the cabin means that you are comfortable driving a road in the woods, including driving up and down small roads. Snow & ice are conditions you may find December 1 through March 31st we provide a shovel and a limited amount of rock salt at the cabin. Are you prepared for Snow and Ice for you, all guests, and your car is a question you must ask yourself when visiting us during the winter. We can’t forecast the weather, nor can we make it stop if it starts :-). Hence you need to be certain you can take care of yourselves and car (snowchains, or AWD, or 4x4 are the best options). In the event of a winter storm during your stay we will instruct you on where your vehicles will be placed for your safety, this may involve a short walk from that location to the cabin door . In general snow fall is light and usually melts the next day. Most of the gravel road is county maintained and thus cleared, however the last .5 miles up to the cabins is in a private neighborhood where snow removal is a group, best can do, best effort basis. That said we drive our Jeep 4x4 through all snow in and out of the same roads all the time, and we are used to snow. The winter months are wonderful months in Blowing Rock, great for a fire, some out door hiking, tubing, skiing and hot tubing, pls be vigilante on the weather as its usually in a forecast, and you can put yourselves and your cars in the right places for total success.
We are providing you a License to use our Cabin similar to that of renting a car, as a licensee you are bound to the cabin rules at all times, and you forgo the rights of a "lease" or "tenant". Violations of our cabin rules can result in your immediate removal from our cabin, by renting our cabin you agree to these terms. If you'd like a full copy of the license please let us know in advance and one will be provided to you.
WIFI - Its Satellite based. That means it has a delay and is not ideal for 2 way communication such ZOOM. Second it means that during a storm the weather can cloud out the connection and your WiFi may degrade. Most guests have found it great, streaming is possible if the weather is good, and we’ve had guests work and play in our cabin with out issue, but we do point this out as there are no buried cables or fiber on our remote properties.

We had a wonderful visit with family: the drive on the gravel road was a little difficult. The place had everything we needed but could use a good cleaning.

This property was a lot bigger than I had imagined based on the price. There were 4 of us and we all got a bed to ourselves and there were beds leftover.

My husband and I rented O’Connor’s retreat for my birthday week in December. This place is so perfectly cozy, well-appointed and lovely! The Mountain View’s are stunning both at sunrise and sunset. The hosts are just really good people who take the time to provide a wonderful experience for guests. Make sure that you read the details in the description. It is remote, quiet and set in the mountains - for us this was a huge part of the charm. The kitchen is very well stocked with a variety of cooking tools and such. The host welcomed us with a very nice bag of coffee, a bottle of wine and chocolates. We are already in looking to book this cabin again!

Brought our family of 6 to for two nights. More than enough room, and the fireplace made it cozy. Really clean and well supplied. The welcoming gift was a nice touch!

My family and I had a great time at the cabin. The weather wasn’t the best but the cabin was so nice that we were able to stay in, play games, and watch movies. The scenery is breath taking. Staying here is a must.

Great weekend getaway place for the family. Close to Blowing Rock and area activities while giving separation from the crowded areas.

The cabin had everything we needed. It was clean and peaceful. The views were stunning from all over especially on the deck including sitting in hot tub. We enjoyed Blowing Rock and Grandfather’s Mountain. We made apple crisp with the apples from the 200 year old tree.

We really enjoyed the back porch and deck with nice hot tub that all overlooked the Blue Ridge Mountains. Inside was clean and cozy with a full kitchen, living room and four distinct sleeping areas that could accommodate 2 people each. We were close to town and activities that were fun for the family. Close enough to Boone to visit with our college age daughter too. Our hosts were very responsive and accommodating. Great place to stay!!

Arrival and check-in process went very smoothly, and the house had all the comforts of home. It was comfortable and clean. The few from the deck was absolutely spectacular, and we spent a lot of our time sitting outside, enjoying the beautiful mountain air, and the furious grandfather mountain from the deck in the comfortable rockers, our host was responsive when we needed anything or had any questions we would love to come back and stay here again it was very relaxing ! We enjoyed dining in Blowing Rock, and visiting all of the cute little shops, and a trip to grandfather mountain and across the swinging bridge. If you’re looking for place for relaxation, this is it! The location was great. It was only a eight minute drive to downtown blowing rock, but yet we were very secluded.

Very nice property! Fully equipped! Didn’t get to see the view due to the weather. When we arrived the driveway is very steep and a bit difficult to navigate. But everything else was great!

Great clean place to land for the night after hiking Hawksbill Trail about an hour away. My sister, I, and our five older kids were able to rest up, eat, and enjoy the view. Definitely best to have AWD especially if it’s raining.

We had a wonderful time. The cabin was perfect. The view from the back porch was beautiful. We spent our time at the cabin either on the back porch or in the hot tub. I will definitely be back.

This property has a spectacular view of grandfather mountain. There is a good amount of privacy. The craftmanship of this home is excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable and provided linens, pillows, and towels were clean and in great shape. The kitchen is amazing and has most of the items you would need to cook and bake. Phone service and the satellite internet service in this area can be spotty, so would not recommend if this is essential for you.
My favorite part of this home was the exterior deck and hot tub. The deck is huge and would allow for plenty of seating room and dining in the outdoors. The hot tub was clean and I was a frequent user in the morning and watching the sun set in the evening , it is truly a sight to behold.
I stayed on this property at the end of March. There was no snow on the ground. The road to the property is a single lane gravel road, if you are not used to driving in the mountains I would suggest arriving before sunset to get familiar with the road. During my stay I made sure I had food and drinks for the evening as I did not want to drive on this road at night.
The location is minutes away from blowing rock , so it was nice to venture into town. The property manager was excellent and was responsive when contacted. Would 100% stay here again.

We (2 adults, 8yo, 3yo) stayed at this property at the end of September for our annual fall mountain getaway and we would definitely stay here again! The location was perfect, removed enough to feel private and remote, but a short and easy drive to town. The view was amazing and the rocking Adirondack chairs the perfect place to take it in. The cabin had a great layout for families with kiddos, as it was possible to either space out from them or stay near them as they and you need. I might recommend bringing a stairway gate to block the stairs if traveling with a young toddler. The apple tree out front way dropping apples during our stay and the kids had fun finding a few good ones. The hot tub heater was broken for most of our stay (a storm just before our stay had fried it), but the property owners were incredibly reasonable and communicative about the problem. They called before our stay to let us know of the problem, offered a full refund if we decided the hot tub was a deal breaker for our trip, and credited us a bit back for each night it was broken. It was fixed by the morning we left and so delightful with a great view as well. We felt grateful for the way the owners handled circumstances beyond their control and worked to make sure we still had a great stay. We look forward to coming back!

Great location and great view from the back porch! We throughly enjoyed our stay here. The home is clean and well maintained, the back porch is spacious and great to relax on in the hot tub. The view from the home is gorgeous! You feel like you are away from it all, but can get to everything on a short drive. Would definitely stay again!

This cabin was an amazing find right down the street from Blowing Rock! The location is perfect and only 5 minutes from all of the amazing shops and dining in Blowing Rock. Want a bigger adventure? It is only 20 miles from Grandfather mountain and tons of hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The cabin was clean, well stocked, and perfect for a family of 5. Everything was thought out well for guests. The hot tub was great and you can watch the sunset over Grandfather mountain from the hot tub! We did!
Lastly, the views are incredible. The cabin is right on the cliff and you can see the valley and tons of mountain peaks from the house.
We will definitely stay here again!

The cabin was clean and spacious, fully stocked kitchen and accurately listed. You’re hosts are very friendly, nice and responsive- there was never a problem with communication as they promptly responded to all my messages. The views from the cabin and the deck were breathtaking and the sunsets were amazing, especially while relaxing in the hot tub after hitting the trails all day. In the past I have stayed at different mountain rentals, one in particular was at Montana, but it took 20 minutes to get from the rental to a main road and then another 15 minutes to the nearest city. When you leave this cabin it’s a few minutes drive to the main road and then a few minutes to Blowing Rock. You also have the option to drive 15 mins from the cabin to Boone, which is another mountain town. Don’t let the short drive from the cabin to the main road deter you, you’re in a highly elevated spot with scenic views of the mountains-WITHOUT having to deal with a bunch of switch backs from the main road to the cabin. Another advantage to this stay is you’re a short drive drive to the blue ridge parkway- definitely check out this scenic adventure. If you’re looking for a mountain stay with a hot tub and amazing views, friendly and communicative hosts, clean and accommodating cabin- I highly recommend this rental. They also have other cabins if this particular one isn’t available.
