About this house rental
The 1000 sq.ft. quiet little Encanto Casita is a newly remodeled quaint home located downtown in the village of Chama. The Cumbres & Toltec Railroad is located just a block down the road as well as all the shops, restaurants, and bars. For the more adventurous Sargents wildlife area is only a mile away or take quick drive up Cumbres Pass to access national forest. For larger groups book our sister property the 5 bedroom Encanto Lodge that shares the backyard.
We live in town if help is needed, myself or someone can help you out.
The Encanto Casita is on the north end of downtown just a block from the train and the historic downtown Chama where most of the shops, restaurants, and bars are within walking distance.
The Encanto Casita entrance is located in the alley behind both the Encanto Lodge and the Victorian B&B. The parking is small and is best for only one vehicle. Extra vehicles can be parked in front of the Encanto Lodge entrance.
The Encanto Casita is a 1 bedroom 1 bath home, but the living room has a pullout couch and the office has a twin bed as well. The backyard gives guests a great place to enjoy the mountain weather we have in Chama.

Cute property. Well appointed kitchen, minus a dishwasher though. Old home, with sloping floors. This was not a problem except for the twin bedroom, where the occupant felt like she was going to roll out of bed. Leg risers or a platform to level that would be good. Good internet and tv. So much better than a hotel for hanging out.the property managers were quick to help us with a security alarm issue.

Small house appropriate for a small family of 4-5. House was clean and had all the essentials available. Within walking distance of the Cumbres Toltec train.

This property is perfect for couples looking to get away. Within walking distance of the town of Chama, it leaves you with many chances to explore the town without having to drive. The house is also very quiet and makes for the prefect relaxing weekend away.

Property was great and provided what we needed for our short stay

This casita is conveniently located within walking distance of Chama rail station and downtown amenities, such as they are. The unit is clean and functional. It is nice by Chama standards where everything is a bit rustic and funky. The unit could be better supplied. No hairdryer or dishwashing soap. No serving bowls. Limited cooking supplies in town with no restaurants Mon-Wed. But still one of the better options in great location.

We would recommend to anyone!

Good place to stay overall but several improvements need to be made, there was no soap or shampoo provided, toilet seat needs to be repaired, toilet placement is crooked, kitchen could use more supplies like a basic mixing bowl, many of the blinds in the home need to be replaced, parking spot is too tight, back yard needs cutting, couch and living room chairs are not comfortable, bed in main bedroom could use a layer of memory foam for more comfort, gorgeous artwork stored in bedroom closet should be hung, small bedroom is much too small. Owner did not send check in info until last minute and only after our request. These are not things we normally deal with when dealing w other vrbo or other rental companies

Miscommunication turned
We did not end up staying at casita because of a miscommunication between the property manager and VRBO system. However, the property manager helped to get us into a new location very quickly and was overly accommodating. The actual place we stayed was beautifully renovated and fit our needs well. The village is so charming and all of the people were kind and helpful.

Just what we needed
Four of us stayed here, and it was just what we needed while visiting family in Chama. It was clean and quiet. The bedding for the sofa bed was missing at first but Austin was very responsive and provided it right away when notified. Location was great - only a few blocks from the family’s cabin and also only a couple of blocks from the downtown shops. Would definitely stay here again.

Chama charm
Nice space with some typical Chama quirks, and great additions with the use of the back yard and BBQ grill.
Could have used a few more supplies: dish soap, paper towels, coffee filters, and toilet paper to name a few. However, when we asked for toilet paper, Austin was quick to get us some. So not a huge deal.
Enjoyed the place, and hope to be there again next year.

Charming stay in Chama
Lovely cottage in a residential neighborhood. The house had a Mediterranean feel and was very relaxing. I appreciated the unexpected goodies left for the stay. The garden was a nice spot for coffee and reading.

Cute, Small House Near Steam Railroad
This is a cute house with two bedrooms. One is normal size with a queen bed. The other is rather small with a twin (?) bed that is comfortable but on a frame that squeaks a lot. Located moments from the Chama rail yard and all other points downtown. Only issue is that there was a neighboring dog that barked much of the night.
