You are on the side of the mountain, up in the trees with the birds singing in the morning. It’s beautiful.

The back porch ambience and fire pit area created a positive impression upon arrival. It was also much used! The interior was clean and made a cozy, nicely appointed retreat for our 5 adults and two teens. We enjoyed hanging out, playing games, watching TV, and all of the fun activities nearby. We strongly recommend the Bearfoote Chalet!

We enjoyed staying in BearFoote Chalet. It was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again. All information and communication was great.

We enjoyed our stay. Beautiful area with lots of fresh mountain air. The house was perfect for our family.

We had a great girl's trip at the chalet. The decor was beautiful and comfy. Fireplace easy! With the leaves gone we could see the sunrise over the mountains. Kitchen well-stocked and the bed linens were surprisingly nice! Our most talked about and favorite amenity were the heated toilet seats, LOL! Very close to Grandfather Vineyard and Winery, a lovely spot!

The location of the place is very good. And the place itself is nice. But The house wasn’t clean good. I guess the beds were changed and the floor was swept in the living room. But it wasn’t clean properly. All kitchen cabinets were greasy. There were crumbs in all the drawers and some dishes were dirty. The floor also was sticky, there was pieces of food in the corners on the kitchen floors and very dirty under the beds and the couch.
The management wasn’t so great also. The night before the check out snowed so much and in the morning all the roads were icy and snowed. The incline of the driveway to get to the house is very high. If you don’t have a truck you will hit the bottom of your car 100 percent. I asked if we can do check out at 11 am instead of 10 am to clean up the driveway and to let the ice to melt a little. And I didn’t want the kids to wait outside for an hour. I was afraid that my car will just slide down to the woods as soon as I will start going down on this driveway. I have been told that we can’t wait until 11 and we need to leave. We checked out at 10 am but still stayed down the road to wait until the ice will melt. There was no cleaners or new guests coming for another 2 hours that we were outside.

We loved the layout of this house. It was perfect for our 3 and a baby!

It was restful, peaceful, beautiful

Everything was perfect! Our stay was great- we couldn’t have asked for anything better.

Great home with good atmosphere. As described. No issues. But the driveway is very narrow with an awkward entrance and very very steep. But that was disclosed in the listing. A great location with a very cool friendly vibe. Everything you need, nothing you don’t.

Went snow tubing at Hawks Nest and Alpine Coaster. Good dining options close by. Kitchen well equipped, beds comfortable, very nice property.

Everything was as expected, or better. Great views from inside and outside! The listing was accurate, and the place was nice and cozy. The driveway is steep, and I was nervous parking upon arrival... But by the second day, it was a walk in the park.

In the description it isn't very clear as to what room is the master. When we arrived the bigger bathroom was by the room that had a loft over it. In no way does anyone want the master to share a loft for kids. Both bathroom were detached from the rooms. There were absolutely no hangers to put away clothes. The room with bunkbeds didnt have a closet or dresser to store clothes. There kitchen was outdated and the garbage disposal kept stopping up. The crock pot that was there was from the 80s and the pans were useless. Everything stuck to them no matter how much butter or cooking spray you used. The house was very dark and is in very much need of more lighting. There was 15 differnt switches in every room. We called on the first day about the house smelling like propane and we didn't receive a call back for almost 2 days. No one came out, they just said the gas fireplace didn't have an exhaust fan. We had to leave doors or windows open to vent the house so it didn't smell like propane. The stairs that go down to vehicle parking area were not lit at all! It was very dangerous to try to walk down at night. You had to shine your cell phone light to be able to walk down it without breaking your neck.
The driveway was almost impossible for us to use. We have a full size SUV and it was very hard to pull in and out of without scrubbing the front or back of the truck coming into it. You also had to back down the driveway because there wasn't enough room to turn around. You also had to come in from the other access road to the property and drive and extra 3/4 mile because the turn into the driveway was impossible from the short way in. All in all the stay was not worth the price at all. I wouldn't recommend this property.

Vacasa service was extremely poor and non-existent when our family was faced with very difficult conditions. We got stuck without food in the cabin when the driveway was covered with a sheet of ice. There were 2 snow shovels, but no salt was provided. I made multiple calls to the number Vacasa gave me for help, but they never followed up. Fortunately, the park rangers in the area were unbelievably good and finally delivered food to our cabin around 9:30 pm. When the temperature drops to -10 or so, we lost the power and cabin got really cold. We left the cabin one day early. I do not recommend this place during the winter.

Well equipped, beautiful setting

We were disappointed to open the door to a warm, stale, musty, cabin. After looking to turn air condition down and create airflow we realized that there was no A/ C. Maybe I should have looked closer at description as it does only list heat. Lucky for us it was cool for end of May. However in my defense they let you know twice that it has a private washer and dryer. But never mention lack of air.
Also driveway is very steep and narrow. With the speed needed to get up the driveway the post for handrail is very close .
That said furniture, room, and kitchen supplies were all nice.

In the interior was wonderfully decorated, giving a genuine mountain cabin feel!

All positive. Two things, bring hangers there are none. What we considered the non master broom(small bath) had Two large bureaus , the master bedroom had two skimpy drawers
4.4
Property was very clean and we had everything we needed. Having a washer dryer was a plus. Beds were really comfortable. Large TVs in each bedroom and den. Having a covered back deck was really beneficial because there was an afternoon shower almost every day so we could sit outside and read. The other reviews talked about the steep driveway and they weren’t kidding! I have been to many mountain homes and this was definitely steep. Do-able, but steep. Enjoyed the week!

Overall, this cabin was the perfect setting for our family’s mountain getaway! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the setting is incredibly serene, quaint & private, and the cabin is exactly as pictured.
The location is fantastic—no more than
20-30 minutes in either direction to most towns & activities—and the views from the deck are really beautiful. We enjoyed our morning coffee there each day, loved being surrounded by so much nature & wildlife, and took advantage of the fire pit & the charcoal grill.
On the constructive end, there’s no iron/ironing board provided, make sure to bring your own fire source for the grill & fire pit & be prepared for the very steep driveway—even without snow, it was quite treacherous getting up & down each day in our SUV. Additionally, there’s no a/c so without the windows & ceiling fans on, even in early June when it was still cool outside, the cabin was a little too warm for us.

BearFoote Chalet is as adorable as it sounds! Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains it is a true mountain get-away! Our son was graduating from App State in Boone. We have rented a hotel on several occasions when visiting him. This time we weren’t sure how many in our family were going to attend and potentially require 2 hotel rooms or not. So, we went looking for a rental. This Chalet is only 24 minutes to the Convocation Center at App State. We were so grateful to have a place to gather. Boone restaurants were booked solid with all of the graduations happening and then it rained. It rained and hailed! It was wonderful to have a place, not a hotel room, to make and share dinner (grilled on the gas grill provided), play cards, sit on the covered deck and drink coffee and we even took a walk in the rain. The beautiful thing about the rain is that the vaulted roof makes this wonderful sound with the falling rain. The Chalet comfortably slept all seven in our family. Sunday was beautiful weather. Sunny skies for the travel home. I highly recommend this vacation get away! You will not be disappointed!
