The home is beautiful. Be prepared for a TON of stairs. The bedrooms are all either on the top floor or the basement, and about 70 stairs to the beach, which you can't access once you get to the bottom of the stairs, due to neglect. The front walkway and steps, and back deck looked like it has not been swept since last fall (we found a broom but it was broke in half and only about 28" high! Poor house keepers, if that is what they have to work with!!). Same for the stairs leading to the waterfront. They were covered with debris and branches. There was a wild rose bush also covering the stairs which we had to move off the stairs. After descending the multitude of stairs to the beach, we were met with an overturned canoe, table and chairs piled up at the foot of the stairs!!!! In order to reach the beach, one must crawl over these objects! It was as if the owners don't want anyone on the beach. What a disappointment! We booked a "waterfront home with beach access" so we could walk the beach. What a disappointment!
The home also has maintenance issues. We found several light bulbs that were out and not working. We were told about the fireplace not working and the jets in the shower one week before our stay so it was too late to cancel.
We won't stay here again.

We stayed for a whole week and things were perfectly fine. Not amazing, just fine.

This is an amazing property. Very unique modern styling. Amazing sunset views of the sound and the Olympic mountains. It is 3 floors, so be ready for that.
The main issue is this place has no AC, despite having an old unit outside that is not functional. To be fair, the listing did not claim to have an AC. And this is usually not a problem on Bainbridge, but it was in the 90s when we were there and it was unbearable. Couldn't go outside, and could not stay inside. We had to sleep on the bottom floor which was much cooler since the place is all concrete, so we could not enjoy the upstairs master bed. The support team was very understanding and they credited us one nights stay for our trouble. So, that was much appreciated. I really hope they add an AC, even a couple portable units would go a long way.
There were some other minor issues like broken lights and switches, a damaged front door knob, and some shower features like the bonus side jets and sauna were broken. These things happen and are minor, but we were disappointed that the grounds had not been maintained in a very long time and the backyard was very overgrown and messy. It was impractical to take the stairs all the way to the beach. Needs regular garden maintenance considering how special this property is.
Overall, I recommend this property if you like modern styling and you are not staying during the peak of summer.

Mountainview Retreat offers a modern industrial style with spectacular views. The well-equipped kitchen and central location are major pluses. It’s not particularly toddler-friendly, and while there were some areas needing better cleaning, customer service was prompt in addressing them. Adding more seating at the dining table would be nice. We opted to skip the planned beach BBQ as it was less accessible for all family members, but watching the fireworks across the bay from inside the home was a nice alternative. Despite these minor points, I would recommend Mountainview Retreat

Amazing views that you just can’t beat. I wish it had a bigger couch though that you could put your feet up on. Super modern and clean. Just needs some TLC like other reviewers have posted (some light bulbs out, door lock is finicky, and only like salt and sugar was found in the kitchen. Bring your own foil, cooking oil, spices etc if you plan to cook) but Vacasa was very quick in communicating with us the entire time we were there.

Great neighborhood

We had some difficulty checking in initially, and found two doors unlocked once we got in. It is likely that the doors were not locked properly by the cleaning service, as a result of the unusual two handed locking and unlocking method where the handle has to be raised to change states. The place was generally clean, but we did have to wash all of our dishes because they were clearly dirty. I should warn people about the sugar ants. We didn't know, so the morning after the first night we had quite a few trying to get our fruit. The downstairs bathroom also had ants. The steam shower is shut off for guests, so ignore this perk if it's on the listing. Otherwise this was a nice weekend getaway with some great views.
3.6
The home is modern, clean, and comfortable and the location and view can’t be beat!
3.6
Great beach house and rainy weather house, no white carpets to worry about. Well stocked with basic needs. Front entrance needs stair rails for older people. Can’t beat the view, with better weather we would enjoy the beach access.
3.6
The view is absolutely stunning and that side of the house is essentially all windows! The house has all top-of-the-line appliances, heated floors and the main suite is stunning with a beautiful bathroom.
3.6
It was a great view of the lake and mountains. Was very private and comfortable.
3.6
This is a beautiful home, but it seems to lack care. It was dirty when we arrived and we notified vacasa. We shared photos and we received a refund for cleaning fees; that was a fair deal for both of us.
3.6
Upon arrival the house had not been cleaned: dirty dishes, bags of garbage (inside and out), blood on the toilet, unmade beds. I was told I would be refunded while we went to dinner, since the cleaners needed to come, 2 weeks later and I still have not been refunded. The path to the beach is full of sticker bushes. Trying to get ahold of the company is near to impossible: constantly on hold or talking to someone new that doesn’t even know anything about the house. Such a disappointing experience.

We loved this house. We literally spent hours just staring at the waterfront view, whether it was from the Master Bedroom, the adjacent View room, or from the living room and kitchen. The furnishings (exception: dining room chairs) and the architectural design from inside and out were outstanding. When we arrived, the house was sparkly clean. The beds were all very comfortable and the linens were great. We were there 7 days/nights and never got tired of it. In fact, we wanted to stay another week but it was booked. Would definitely come back.
I have a few criticisms which is why I give it 4 stars. 1. The dining room chairs are cosmetically in poor shape. The leather was fraying and falling apart on all the dining room chairs and should be replaced. Replacing dining room chairs should be an easy thing to do. 2. There were not enough plates and glasses for a family of 5 and we were given only two dishwash tabs for the 7 nights. We had to hand wash everything to ensure we had enough flatware, plates and glasses, which is annoying when you are on vacation. We are visiting from Germany so we didn't want to go buy a box of dishwasher tabs either when we are spending over $400/night. 3. The house was hard to get into. We had to call customer service to trouble shoot getting into the house. That master lock thing is very hard to open, and we had 3 people in our party who tried. Customer service gave us an emergency password number that eventually worked to pry the house key open. Maybe they should switch to an electronic key pad system for the future. Those are some things that I can't give it 5-stars. But if I come back, hopefully they will have replaced the dining room chairs.
3.6
Septic maintenance was scheduled during our stay and the whole house smelled of sewage. We had to open all the windows and leave until the smell went away about 2-3 hours.
Other than that PROS: The house is nice, and has a gorgeous view. It is dog friendly with mostly concrete floors. The place is in a quiet neighborhood with it's own path down to the sound. Bed was comfortable and the place was clean.
CONS: Getting down to the sound involves going down 2 steep slippery long staircases. The beach isn't accessible at high tide and DO NOT let your dogs go down to the beach. It cut up both our dogs paws and made them all bloody. It's a rocky beach with lots of shells and barnacles. The stove top was difficult to use with touch buttons that don't respond well and it kept turning itself off with the slightest bump. Half of the pans they provided also don't work on the induction stove top. And if you leave any food out, it will be completely covered by ants by morning.

There are quite a few punch list items that this house needs to have addressed:
1) laturns without batteries and no candles. We had a long power outage and were in the dark for a day. Non functional fireplace.
2) Front door extremely hard to lock with the key, and once locked does not unlock without effort. We had to leave the door unlocked during our stay.
3) garbage outside from prior guests was not picked up.
4) cloths washing machine leaks from the soap dispenser intermittently. Soap door was double checked to be closed properly but it still leaked all over the pantry floor. Home would have been flooded if we had not been watching.
5) light bulbs out in multiple places, kitchen, master bath.
6) Insufficient kitchen supplies. Limited kitchen trash bags. Coffee maker gross. Toster oven gross. Toster gross.
7) kitchen sink spray nosle entirely stuck and mounting broken.
8) last leg of steps down to the water bank dangerously and extremely slippery. Made access impossible.
9) cob webs in multiple places.
10) no blankets
3.6
We had a wonderful weekend! The house was well appointed and very clean. Lots of space for everyone to spread out. We would love to go back and spend more time.
3.6
We stayed here for two nights. The house is stunningly beautiful and the location is very private with a wonderful view of the ocean. Our son was very excited to stay in a “fancy mansion”.
HOWEVER, the place is beginning to show its age and there were quite a few issues that would need to be addressed before we would book it again:
1. The house has an ant problem. The excuse was that it’s in a wooded location. We live in a wooded location and don’t have ants in our house. They have a pest control company in every two weeks. I don’t think it’s that hard to deal with ants. We were not provided with anything to deal with them ourselves. We kept a roll of toilet paper on the counter to squish them every time we used the kitchen. We had to store our food in our car to avoid having ants all over it.
2. The amazing master shower is not fully functional and has a warning that the plumbing could be damaged, but doesn’t include instructions for how to avoid this.
3. The fireplace is inoperable and has not been addressed since we booked this place pre-COVID in 2020.
4. There were no kitchen linens or paper towel. We had to use a bathroom hand towel and toilet paper.
5. There were no recycling bins in the house.
6. The outside garbage and recycling bins were completely full.
7. There was a coffee maker but no coffee. There were no cooking supplies such as salt and pepper or cooking oil etc. While not usually included in a hotel, I think these are expected in a vacation home.
8. The heat was set way too high at 75 degrees. We turned it down to 70, but it kept readjusting itself. We had to keep the doors open for most of the day.
9. The main floor tv and basement home theatre are very complex to operate. Luckily I eventually got it going as I am fairly “techie”, but the cableTV would often stop working in the middle of a show.
10. This wouldn’t be everyone’s experience, but the neighbors were pressure washing their house and the noise was quite disruptive all day. In the afternoon we discovered it was the property manager doing it!
11. There is no way to charge our electric car. The one outside plug I could find close enough didn’t work.
12. The floors are not cleaned well. Our socks were very dirty after staying here. Under the furniture was disgusting.
13. There were not enough dishes, some were broken. There were not enough towels for a house that could sleep 8.
14. Asking guests to do laundry and be out by 10am is unacceptable.
3.6
This home was such a wonderful getaway. We had family coming into town and didn’t have enough space for everyone, so this served as our “home away from home” for the week. The house is modern with great amenities, and the views are amazing! Bainbridge has so much to offer, and the location was great to take a day trip to the peninsula and explore parts of Olympic National Park.
3.6
Loved the property itself. Gorgeous view, beach access, close to town. BUT. We weren’t thrilled with the experience itself. Like other reviewers, we had an issue getting into the property- the lockbox code given was incorrect and it took quite a long time to get the right one. Over an hour waiting to be helped then on hold waiting outside the property. We were able to enter through a back door that had been left open. And finally got the code to the lockbox so we’d have keys quite a while later. We found the reason the patio doors were not locked was that they are very difficult to manage- I finally had to call back the property manager to figure it out together over the phone! She was great- but maybe a note with instructions on how to lock and unlock all doors would be nice. We didn’t finally settle in- getting off the phone with management until after 6pm… and check in was at 4. There was a cleanliness issue too. Our master bedding had stains (maybe clean but no one wants to sleep in stained white bedding.) fingerprints all over the master windows. Met with a laundry basket full of linens (clean? Dirty?) by front door. Dishwasher had not been unloaded. Dryer had not been unloaded. Broken glassware in the cupboard. Utility closet downstairs left open with light on and mop out. Utility closet was a hot mess- should never have been open for guests to see. Finally the paint touch ups on the walls was done with paint that doesn’t match- so walls looked dirty/patchy. Overall not our best vacation rental experience. But location and views were lovely. Oh and like other reviewers stated- watch out for the ants! Can’t leave anything out!
3.6
Beautiful modern house with stunning views on the water. However, it wasn't well equipped for someone who wants to do a lot of cooking.
3.6
To make a long story short, the lockboxes for the house key would not open so we had not
key for the property during our entire stay. There was no way to secure our belongings. We contacted vrbo FIVE TIMES over 2 days, were told each time local contact would be in touch, and they did not return our calls once. (Luckily, the back door to the property was open.) Even after our stay and our safety concerns & complaints, no one called us to follow up. We were ghosted. So if you enjoy, being ghosted, having no key, & leaving your personal belongings and valuables in an unlocked house during your vacation, this place is for you!
3.6
The listing said it sleeps 6 but there are only 3 beds. It took 30 minutes to get the key lock to open the house. We had to folks towels in the dryer and there were no linens for beds! Way too complicated appliances. And lighting. Never did get the gas fireplace to work. What about the ridiculous bed platform upstairs ext to the bed we had to step way over to get out of bed. Way to many stairs for seniors. Cheap one ply bath tissue. Light over sink upstairs burned out. We’re used to having a few staples provided by an owner like mustard. Basic seasoning, coffee. Nothing was provided. Plus we paid way too much to stay at this concrete jungle.
3.6
Cold and austere, no real character.
