About this cabin rental
Less than 10 minutes from Indiana Dunes National Park and Lake Michigan, our beautiful log cabin sits on 2 acres while still being in the heart of Portage! Our large front deck overlooks state land giving a beautiful, private view out of our large windows.
Our cozy cabin has 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms with fun, thoughtful touches for your family including video game consoles, movies, books, a LOT of games, a pool/ping pong table, 2 fire pits, and more!
Our cabin is the perfect getaway for you and your family. The space includes many games (including ping pong and pool!) in a cozy, log home. Sit in our front seating area and enjoy our faux wood burning stove while looking out into nature or have a blast playing one of our many games in the upstairs loft! Whatever you are interested in, you'll enjoy yourself here.
Outside, you will be able to enjoy either a propane fire pit in the front or a wood burning fire pit in back! And we have a feeling you will be spending a lot of time outside since we are so close to the Indiana Dunes National and State Parks which provide amazing hiking, along with Lake Michigan beaches.
Being in the heart of town, you are able to access many restaurants, grocery stores, and anything else you need. Being in this great location, there is a train that runs along the coast and through town that you will be able to hear when outside at times, but it will not disturb your sleep or time in our wonderful cabin!
It is also 1 hour from Notre Dame!

We had three generations of family and everyone enjoyed the spaces available. Each bedroom has a full bath which was great. The game systems provided were great. The game room in loft was fun. We drove to the Indiana Dunes National Park every day and enjoyed grilling out on the back deck each evening. Kitchen provided all the items needed to prepare and serve a nice meal. The cabin seems secluded even though it is located near main roads for easy travel. Thanks for providing this wonderful place for our family getaway.

My friends and I were blown away by the stunning cabin. The property is tucked away and super private, surrounded by trees (including a huge, beautiful willow tree). Perfect scenery to enjoy and take photos! The inside was perfect for a group of friends or a family. Kitchen had all the necessities to prepare a meal, and the beds were shockingly comfortable and high quality (everyone raved about what an amazing night sleep they got). Plenty of bathrooms is a huge plus for a girls trip as well! Especially loved the soap dispensers in the bathroom. There are great decks and patios to eat or relax around, and easy to use TV inside. We were able to get Ubers to Kemil beach and local restaurants easily. Huge plus was a Meijer ten minutes away. This place was not missing a single thing! Owner was also super responsive. Overall we loved Portage and we LOVED this vrbo!

The cabin was great for the whole family and there was enough space for everyone to have their own space if needed. The only problem we had was after we used the key pad once it would not let us use a second time. This was even after it was reset.
Thanks
Mark

Great communication by owner

The cabin was really really nice however there wasn’t any dish rags, I had to buy more and also purchase some dish washing liquid. There wasn’t enough wash clothes or towels. My family and I had a really great time but it was a huge inconvenience that there wasn’t any hot water the water was literally hot for 5 minutes then immediately turned cold. Speaking with the host was very responsive she did send someone out to try and resolve the issue. The problem was not solved and she offered to give me a 75$ credit which I’ve never received, I feel this credit should of been more because not being able to shower is a huge inconvenience. Other than that I can honestly say our trip for the holidays was great.

Stayed here with a group of friends for the weekend and had a blast! The property is nice and so is the house. The only improvements would come from the management itself. The house was really bare, like no extra blankets or towels anywhere. There’s a washer and dryer, but it’s kind of silly to have to do one load just after everyone showers because no clean towels are left.
The kitchen was also a little sparse. I wasn’t expecting a five-star resort, but even a small container of pepper would have been nice!
The house was as clean as possible for a cabin, a few bugs here or there but nothing that wasn’t expected.
When the listing said it slept seven, I assumed there’d be more beds, not just three big beds and one single bunk!
Communication with the owner was also a little difficult. I had to request the access code instructions from them and all my other messages were never answered.
Overall, the house was great but management could use some improvment!

This was a very nice property and we really enjoyed our stay. We rented this house for a short weekend while attending a local music festival. The house was well appointed and clean when we arrived. Even though neighbors weren't terribly far away the house seemed very private and there was a ton of yard space.
The host was very accommodating and prompt with communication. The check in and check out process were simple and smooth. I'd recommend renting if you are looking for something in the area.

Our family enjoyed this cabin on a property surrounded by trees and lots of green grass, that we could see nicely through the large tall windows. We enjoyed playing soft ball in the back yard and card games on the comfortable couch and chairs. This home was very clean with soft mattresses and warm cozy quilts. It is located near beaches, hiking trails and good food.

The host did a great job supplying the home with kitchen and bathroom supplies. They also had a great selection of games to play indoor and outdoors as well as movies to watch. They we extremely helpful throughout our stay. The little one in our group loved their play set. The cabin is close proximity to the Indiana Dunes National Park. Highly recommended!

Nice cabin- just a few issues
We only had 1 1/2 days to enjoy our quick first family get away- we found this cabin online - it fit our needs with space. It was beautiful & we enjoyed it. HOWEVER- when we arrived it was blazing hot- we weren’t able to control the thermostat- we called and they changed it- the grill only had one little spot that got hot so we struggled to grill our dinner & the last night it ran out of gas during our grilling. We didn’t see any replacement tanks. The yard is lovely but we weren’t able to be in it due to the fact it wasn’t mowed- lots of bees and little ones don’t mix- the stairs are very slippery- one is loose- 5 minutes of being there & I learned the hard way how slippery they are- the dishwasher leaked water all over the floor, it was dark and my brother in law & my nephew both slipped in the water- called and they were getting a plumber- we found garbage and socks underneath the dresser and socks in one of the beds. One room had just pillow shams - so we wondered if the lines had even been changed-toilet in one bathroom ran all night. The tile is Pretty but needed scrubbed not just swept- our socks were black. We did have a great time here in just 2 days - but we had some issues we thought we should of been compensated for- we were given a small refund- we were thankful for that- but we would of liked our cleaning refunded- we were told we were at the end of the week - it was only Tuesday- so getting the grass mowed- it should be freshly mowed before each guest arrives! Especially if there’s play equipment for children & a fire pit to enjoy- which we didn’t get to. We didn’t have any washcloths, so bring your own- bring pillows as well unless you want to sleep on pillow shams- the refrigerator wasn’t cold - it was set at 37- we weren’t able to make it alittle cooler- if you have little ones be careful the stairs are very dangerous- bruised tailbones hurt!! We found that out 5 minutes there.
We left that cabin MUCH cleaner when we left - they I am sure have it cleaned but it wasn’t done very well- & if you pack before your last night there you will save time for having to bust your butt to get out of there by 10- check out needs to be a little later- even hotels are 11. We didn’t have much time for our getaway - we made the best of it but having to recook all our food inside & do all the dishes by hand wasted family time and that is what was sad-Appliances should be checked & gas should be full & grass cut each time for each stay.

Family get away to the dunes
The house was beautiful and well furnished. The grandkids loved the ping pong table, games and TV's. The outdoor gas firepit was great to sit by and talk after the kids went to bed.

Awesome cabin in the city
We loved our stay at this beautiful cabin, nestled back on the property away from the road. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The adults and kids loved the pool and ping pong tables, everyone was playing together will listening to the provided music. Everyone also enjoyed the game systems and lawn games. We loved being able to grill, made use of the grill almost every night. The fire pits were awesome and we used them for roasting marshmallows, making s'mores and just hanging out with family in the evening. We had a couple of very minor issues during our stay, but the communication was excellent and the issues were corrected immediately. Every visitor we had throughout the week was impressed with the beauty of the cabin and the surrounding property. I loved that everyone had their own space and bathroom and the extra half bath was great for guests. We would absolutely love to stay in this cabin again during our next visit to the area.

Log cabin home in a peaceful setting
We loved our stay in this log cabin home. The house had a great open and airy feel. Large windows brought in so much natural light and exposed all the greenery outside. Everything was neat and clean. The owner was easy to communicate with and quick to respond to any questions. We will definitely be renting this space again if we are back in the area.
