When I booked my stay, I specifically booked a king size bed in a suite. We arrived and their shuttle wasn’t available so we came by taxi and they gave us a double bed, we explained and were given only an option for a king size bed in 3rd floor a terrible run down room with a view to a roof and a post.. the alternative was pay more and get a newer room with street view, all terrible options. we made 5 trips down to reception as they kept messing our keys. The rooms bathtub had acrylic enclosure not sealed and I almost fell coming out of the shower and the noise on the ac didn’t let us sleep, we couldn’t get ahold of anyone from hotels.com as we wanted to leave next day exhausted and upset. The hotel refused to reimburse us the last night and alternatively assigned us a decent room. Needless to say that the rooms you show on line are a complete misrepresentation of what one gets at the hotel, if i book one bed that is what I expect to get and your policies should include some sort of remediation if the hotel does not comply with the arrangements made. Please make sure in the future to fix the communication problem for people checking in late as the night attendant was not only rude but very entitled and dismissive with us, that is not the attention that a decent hotel should provide to us as customers.

We stayed one night to take a flight next day. It really was a very good experience. Location was perfect and the hotel was in a very good shape. What was really outstanding was the pool, inside the hotel but still outside!

Checking in was smooth & pleasant with the person dealing with us but the process was getting to him was tooth pulling. Room was both comfortable and clean. Room and toilet amenities were more the adequate. House cleaning staff were excellent! Security staff at hotel entrances were excellent. Only complaint is the attitude and response of the front desk when we approach for enquiries. They would see us but carry on their conversation before even thinking of attending to their guests. And when they do attend to their guests, like us for example, we were de4alt with the wrong info. Oh well....it is what it is but I felt it should be mentioned. This is a lovely hotel and we would stay here again for sure if the front desk staff would tweak their behaviour. Recommended!

The shuttle driver spoke no english. Never helped with bags. No help at hotel. Hardly anyone spoke english. My bathroom was broken. I also got food poisoning at the Japanese restaurant.

Pros: Nice Sized Room, Balcony, In Room Amenities, The hot water and shower pressure were amazing! Free Shuttle to the Airport and Offer Currency Exchange! Con: Intermittent internet which is a big issue for work purposes. Provide Bathrobe but no slippers.

Hurricane Beryl forced a change due to airport closure. Airlines offered a free refund but Barcelo blamed Expedia and Expedia blamed Barcelo. Expedia refunded me $100 but Barcelo did not refund or offer a discounted rate for me. Terrible.

You can walk from here to Plaza Fontabella and Oakland Mall and it is very close to the airport. The hotel is very nice and has an excellent breakfast buffet

I made a reservation for the aiport shuttle a day before, on the same day i called in to confirm but the shuttle didn’t arrive. I saw him pass but didn’t stop. I called and they told me it was full so i had to wait till the next one. Also i booked a premium executive floor 1 king bed room and got 2 small queens. Couldn’t sleep for my entire 5 night stay.

I travel frequently to Guatemala and I always stayed at Barcelo because of value for money but the last trips but especially this last one had terrible service from hotel reception, security and the executive room. I did not get any benefits and got denied a one hour late check out. How can it be a VIP hotel?
