The gym and club were fabulous, and the hotel historic. The sparkling wine at 5 PM was fun. My room was beautifully appointed and if you only used it at night would have been nice. However it was like a cave during the day with only a small skylight like window in the slanted ceiling. The room was so very dark during the day. The bathroom had a great window- but it was the bathroom! They should only use this room if it is heavily discounted or free.

I am very disappointed! Second time at the hotel and I asked for a better care in my staying. My room was very bad. There was a very noise structure out side that belongs to the hotel. I could not sleep as I would like. The receptionistml was very rude during my staying and also during the check out. Terrible staying….

old and expensive

Terrible experience. Stuffy, smelly, outdated hotel rooms with poor concierge. Changing rooms at 10:30 pm is not my favorite activity in a 5 stars hotel. The rooms are in the worst condition, smelly leather beds, and the restoration is happening on the outside?? I will call for credit and refund…

Unbelievable view!! I could see the Golden Gate Bridge from my room. And then I took an amazing hike up Stone wall and could see the Berkeley campus from top and the bay. I also loved the tennis.

Beautiful resort. Loved my time. The windows in the rooms were tiny though

Stunning in every way. Rooms were cozy and quiet. The outdoor fire places were nice. Bat was great and views were better.

Everything was great

Hotel itself is slightly outdated but they are updating part of the hotel. Didn’t love that you had to walk outside of the hotel and walk through a parking lot to get to the pool. It wasn’t that far but just would have been nicer if it was closer.

For my second straight visit, check-in clerk. Effe was again most wonderful, cheerful, and helpful!
Loved the pool! Overall, very helpful and friendly staff, especially in the lobby and up on the floors!

Beautiful Historic hotel with incredible views of the San Francisco skyline. If you have a family or if you liked Pickleball, tennis or swimming, there’s no other place like it.

The pool/spa facilities are fantastic

Loved the hotel...it had such a beautiful old-world charm and the sports/spa facilities were excellent!

Booked on short notice, hotel empty, asked front desk staff if she had given me a nice room and the answer was yes. Ended up on 5 th floor with view of parking lot and air conditioning unit

I think all of the added pop-up shops in the entrance in the lobby is tacky and takes away from the overall beautiful decor . And the tents outside and the different color furniture in the grass just doesn't look like a sophisticated resort

Good location, comfortable beds

The interior decorations are impressive.

I have stayed here several times, but this was the most disappointing stay I've had. Even though we booked a "suite", the room was in poor condition. The sofa was torn up and the curtains were torn up....very sad condition for a room that was $650 a night. Not sure what is going on with this property, but it isn't up to standards at all.

I love the historic charm and views. Great location. Great amenities. The room we were in had a musty smell that could only be overcome by opening the window.

I booked a deluxe bay view room, and I was willing to pay the premium based on the picture on the site showing a multi-window room. I was given a room with one window in a far corner. When I asked at the front desk I was told there were no other rooms. Very disappointing. Quiet hours were not enforced. The pillows were subpar. All other aspects were fine.

Very cool old building and I did enjoy staying here. Seems very much that it needs some renovation. Very thin walls, smallish rooms (though enormous hallways). Very busy pool/club area. Air conditioning is water cooled so feels muggy and is quite loud. Nothing about this hotel is terrible, it’s a very cool, beautiful historic hotel but it does seem needing renovations and rooms need updating. While the service is pleasant I just would expect a slight bit more professionalism and attention to detail. I would class the service as rather casual in a way that I was not expecting. Sort of what you would get at a mid-range beach resort. Again, everyone was very very nice but just a bit scattered and disorganized. Perhaps I was just expecting something different.

I wanted a night away from the noise of fireworks and the Claremont offered a great rate for the night, plus amazing amenities to utilize during my stay.
Staff was friendly and pleasant. It was a great night away without going too far.

I liked it all

Didn’t like that I paid $500 a night for a deluxe King room with a Bay view and what I got was a TINY room with a small window in the corner with a view only from the entry door, that’s not a room with a view. The air unit clicked all night and kept us up, but it was too warm not to run the air. The towels were scratchy. This hotel was very disappointing

Amazing to keep up this level for such a large hotel.

Beautiful location and facilities (the pool and club are wonderful). However not all spa facilities were available due to rennovation

We asked for nightly turn down service for the three nights we were there. We received that service the first and not again. When I originally requested it, I was assured that would take care of it for our stay.
Also I was disappointed that your gym was not 24/7. This required me to go to Planet Fitness.

Berkeley was sold out for Welcome Weekend, so we had to stay here. It is as much a Fairmont as I'm a prima ballerina. Rooms are OLD, carpets are stained & stink, prices are simply absurd. They just free-ride on lack of good options around UC Berkeley. Book early somewhere ELSE
