Overall, the hotel was quaint. Service was very good and friendly. It is an older hotel with a lot of charm however, the rooms could use some updating. The outdoor furniture is nice. The pool needs resurfacing. The rooms were adequate, but the floors are slanted and room smells musty. The beds were very soft and not firm. The hotel is very walkable and close to downtown. Drinks at the bar were average. Coffee and breakfast included is a perk. There’s a way to keep the charm of this historic landmark without it seeming dated.

The most dog friendly accommodations I have ever experienced. Love that they loved my fur babies!

Always love staying at The Wilcox. Restaurant and bar great.

Oh where do I begin. I guess I’ll start with our stay was very disappointing. I was stunned by this because they won a ton of awards and have great ratings. So idk how that works. Here goes….
dirty outdated rooms
Cockroaches
TVs have so many wires and just looks messy and dangerous with all of the wires
No outlets
Paint is dated
Rugs dated
Bathroom grout tile needs steaming or change tile
Don’t really have valet or bellman
Check-in people don’t explain anything like at all. No hey here is your internet access, your room is that way, or check out time.
Spa was awful. Wouldn’t classify it as a spa at all.
Restaurant is eh but the bar area and lounge have a cool vibe. The bartenders were cool. However, if your hotel is dated & not what is advertised then your customer service should be top notch. Only cool piece is lounge and the front of the building has a beautiful look.
Oh almost forgot because so many negatives. The beds are from like 1980 and pillows are flat. All around if they painted, changed rugs, hung tvs, updated baths, and got their staff a customers etiquette books that would help. I get they want to keep the old school vibe but something need to be updated a d def cleaned properly.

Perfect location for a couples get away.
Great options for activities and shopping near by.
The spa is very reasonably priced and all staff were wonderful.

Have not ever had a better experience in an American hotel. If you would like to have a once in a lifetime experience, enjoying immense Southern hospitality, this is the place. History & old fashioned grace shall drench you at this establishment.

The staff were very friendly and courteous. The building is grand and beautiful. The accommodation was 5 star and extremely comfortable. I was there for business purposes but do plan on a future personal/weekend vacation stay.

Very elegant and historical. The room was spectacular, the waiter we had was nice and very attentive, but was clueless about the wine list.

Wonderful old world feel, especially the bar and lobby. Walked , rode bikes , shopped, all so close. Great equestrian community.

Older Colonial style hotel that kept its historic integrity. Great atmospere. People socializing and musician playing piano in the foyer. Food pricey however food was delicious and well worth it. Complimentary breakfast consist of a full breakfast ( bacon, eggs , grits, toast, coffee). Room was cozy. We really loved it and will be back.

All was good except for the fact that the bed was too short for my 6'3" husband.

The old furniture and general theme of past eras was refreshing. The high bed caused minor difficulties, and the lack of hot water when trying to shower at 8 am was a slight problem. Katie was a fabulous server. Checking in and out easily was a pleasure.

The lounge areas were taken up by locals, Leaving no room for residents to use. Also, the bathrooms poorly updated.

They served the best cocktails with plenty of liquor. We enjoyed sitting outside at the pool, but unfortunately it wasn’t heated during our late October anniversary yesterday. The Roosevelt suite was amazing period. The practice truly wonderful and the waitstaff spent time making us feel special. We gave Hugs to “ Cue “what a Special lady.

The historic inn is absolutely beautiful and charming. Our check in was delightful, greeted with champagne and we had been upgraded to a suite that was absolutely gorgeous. Due to our late arrival the suite was already turned down and they had left a full bucket of ice as well as a pitcher of lemon water on the bedside table. We couldn't have asked for more. The following day was a little disappointing after such a perfect beginning. They did not come and make up our room until we called down late afternoon/early evening to ask it be and we asked for shampoo etc. as we were taking evening showers and it took over 20 minutes to get them. They came for turndown while we were still in the room so we asked them to come back but they never did. In addition we never had hot water during the stay. We were able to get the shower warm enough to take a quick shower but not comfortable and certainly not warm enough to indulge in a both in the lovely tub. Overall we loved our stay there and I would recommend the hotel. Aiken is amazing especially for horse lovers!

The Willcox in Aiken South Carolina is probably one of the best secrets in the south-it’s like walking back in time of the Victorian era… very romantic and very unique style!!!

Dirty bathrooms and room. Have stayed here before and it was great. Not this time and when we expressed our concerns we were met with an attitude. For $500 for an overnight stay plus dinner I expected more. Lesson learned. The food and wait staff were top notch though.

I don't get why Travel and Leisure rates this so highly. It's basically a house. A house on the train tracks. It came through at 8am. Some other din started at 7am then vacuuming at 9am. There is all no there here. Just an uncleaned tiny pool. Views are terrible. Room wasn't available a minute before deadline. And it's middle of the week. Hire another minimum wage employee. They seem to be working as early as 9am. It drives me crazy that the worlds most expensive and self described guest focused hotels are the ones that have the shortest stays because they can't efficiently clean a room. Volume button on tv doesn't work. Air system doesn't have heat or cold. Just up or down. Didnt feel like hot air was coming out. Still felt cold. At least vent didnt blast air right in your face. Spider and hornet in room. Room is cute. Parking is in front. Curtain blocked most light. A little hard to find. Take Laurens (sp?) to Park and then Dewberry (I think) over tiny bridge. Aiken is also no great shakes.
