The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were frumpy, shower curtain wouldn't close, no elevator, very loud. Front door was locked when I went to check out had to ring the bell, had to wait almost 10 minutes to check out

Between the train, the coming and going of a particular vehicle and the paper thin walls, there was nothing remotely quiet. The nearly sheer towels left so much lint it took the ancient blow dryer to get it off. The 'coffee maker' heats the water then shuts off so the coffee gets cold. Check in was slow and disorganized.

I feel bad saying this, but this is a last-resort kind of place. The location and price are the two main pluses, and the people who checked me in and out were perfectly kind and courteous. On the minus side: abandoned vehicles in the parking lot, cracks in the second level concrete walkways (going to fall off soon??) filthy room, stains on the bedding, stains on the carpet, hair on the sink, and a strong stink of fresh paint covering up lord-knows-what stains on the wall. Read the reviews so you know what you’re booking.

I chose this hotel on a impulsive decision which is most of my decisions the manager of this location is very kind he let me check in several hours early friendly staff my room was huge I paid 77.39 for what was really two rooms I would absolutely go back there again 10/10

The people were very rude at first they gave me a room that was still occupied this smell terrible of smoke there was mold on the wall and the Wi-Fi did not work at all they told me check out was 11 but they made me leave my room at 10:00 a.m. as well as others that was guests there.

Great trip. But there was an Amtrak train just outside my window and it was used multiple times a day.

The toilet wasn't working. Room smelled musky. The bed was uncomfortable and hard. People were partying and doing drugs outside of our room

This place was ruin down and needs alot of work. It is dusty and put of date. The mattresses were held together with masking tape. There is no suitable drinking water. Will not be staying here ever again.

When pulling into the property it looked deserted. The property conditions were horrible. Room windows were dirty, paint peeling, weeds growing through the cracked concrete. There was one running car in the parking lot with very dark tinted windows and I couldn't see who was in the vehicle. When walking into the lobby there was an odd smell that didn't smell very good. I asked if I could get a refund. I was told no refund since I prepaid. I went ahead and checked in. The location of my room was climbing up two flights of stairs with the landing in an L shape, which was dark and a door leading to the unknown. When walking into the room the light switch didn't work & I had to walk into a dark room with the door left open so I could turn on a light. The first light didn't work but two lights did work. The room was very hot. No air conditioning was turned on for the customer. I have no idea if the mattress was clean because I didn't feel safe in the room. I decided not to stay and I told him that I was checking out and not staying. I told him I felt unsafe and there was no other people staying here. He assured me it was safe. No refund offered so I just left and drove home. I was so upset I started crying because I was out money and had to drive home and return the next morning. I have never had the feeling about anywhere I have ever stayed. I do not recommend anyone staying at Mansion View Inn. Just horrible conditions. I should have been refunded my money.

Room was disgusting. Was so tired didn't turn on lights or would not have stayed here. No sweeping no mopping. Prior guests hair in sink, bathtub everywhere. Blood on the shower curtain... Photos won't load to show how disgusting

Foundered like a train was going right through the room. The manager was very nice but the cliental left a little to be desired

The room ranked of mold. It wasn't the cleanest nor the best of shape but I guess in a pinch and a budget it worked

We stayed for one night while touring USA. Chose this hotel due to proximity to Lincoln’s Home.
I have a disability which the room really was not set up for. I had to change my stoma bag in the bedroom as that is where the sink was. We asked for a lower room but there was not one available. Lift was not working.
Room was tired. Shower rail hanging off, paint and plaster flaking off the ceiling.
Bath taps didn’t switch on easily. Floor flooded while we were showering.

It was filthy, i could not even stay there.

The shower was a rusted cruddy mess. The phones message light flashed all night. The bed was wore out.

The property is under new management very quiet and clean. Need updating, hopefully the new ownership will make that happen sooner rather than later. Overall I was comfortable, rates were very reasonable I must say. Will stay again

I chose this property because of its proximity to the Capitol and its affordability. Well, you get what you pay for. It was generally shabby and dirty from the walls, to the carpet and surfaces. My non smoking room had an ashtray on the nightstand and smelled of mildew. The bathroom toilet had obviously not been cleaned and there were feces on the seat and rim. Luckily I had some sanitizing wipes and cleaned it up. Gross. The bed had been sloppily made and when I pulled down the top sheet there were more poop stains and/or menstrual stains in many places. I slept on top of towels in my clothes. It was horrible. The hair dryer didn’t work and there was a full food container outside my door the entirety of my stay. Did I mention it’s also close to the train? When I went to the office to complain I found the manager asleep on the floor of the office. He was apologetic and returned my $20 deposit. The room did have a microwave, mini fridge and good air conditioning but I’ll definitely stay somewhere else on my next trip to Springfield.

This place is HORRIBLE! Unfortunately, it is Nurses Day at the Capital so the better places are booked. I almost decided to sleep in my car. I cannot rate this any worse. My phone did not work, the TV was an issue, room smells like smoke, the mattress feels good. I will be miserable tonight.

Where to start...stains on the comforters...well worn toilet seat...bathtub very slow to drain...stains on ceiling...not all the lights worked...carpet was, well, sticky. Im sure it was a nice place back in the day. But now you can tell it isnt kept up very well. A positive - I didn't see any bugs anything and the bed was comfy. Then again...what do you want for $59 per night.

it is a motel / motor court set up. The bath tub did not drain at all, only half of the lamps in the room turned on and the mini fridge was unplugged / did not work.

You are RIGHT next to train tracks so even if you can get over the disaster of a room, the fact that the front desk clerk tried to change the check out time when it was clearly posted right at the desk, and are able to disregard the duck tape that is holding the ceiling up; the train will keep you awake. I do not suggest staying here if you would like to feel comfortable and sleep, this is not the spot.

This property should never reach a site for a stay this is THE most disgusting place I’ve ever seen. I have not been to sleep waiting for daybreak to get out of here. Also making a doctors appointment may have scurvy.

Great for a weekend stay.

Old, run down, dirty, room wasn’t well lit and staff could use some serious hospitality training. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else, this hotel’s accommodations are definitely not worth the small discounted price.

Empty property. They’re only renting half the hotel. Rooms looks like nothing they post on their website. The sheets had burn holes in them. Holes in the walls and roaches in the room. Tv didn’t work. They didn’t want to do anything about the roaches or even switch my room. They don’t open the front door until 7am even though they have a door bell.

I was amazed that an Inn so close to the capital of Illinois is in need of renovation and repair. This Inn needs to be restored to its former glory. Updated technology to the rooms as well as general appearance. Could and should be a prideful example like the Dana Thomas House.

Nasty!!!! Pet stains and smells in the carpet. Used towel and soap left in the bathroom, cold in the room even with heater on as high as it can go.

Cracks in the ceiling of the bathroom with things peeling. As well as in the bedroom! Checked in late Friday was asked if I would like housekeeping said YES, then the next day left in the morning came back around 1-2pm no room service called and was argued with and told to come down with my dirty towels myself! Was in a non smoking room that smelled like smoke and that had the coffee pot used as an ashtray very disappointing

Tub would not drain. Hairs on floor of the bathroom that were not mine. Filthy carpet afraid there were bed bugs. Got pictures and I’m notifying the Springfield chamber of commerce and filing a complaint. Embarrassment to the city, especially since it’s across from the Governor’s Mansion. Not for tourists or business travels.

Dirty dark staircase up to the room.
Trains coming by through the night making ungodly loud
noises. Will not go back there.

Adequate for what we needed. We were looking for something close to most of the Lincoln sites and Amtrak station. Hotel is a 10 minute walk from train station and 6 minutes from Lincoln’s home. It’s about a 15 minute walk from Lincoln’s museum and library. Many places to eat uptown about 10 minutes away. We found a great breakfast place “6th St. Cafe”. Easy walk from everything. The hotel was a great location, however, it could use some upgrades. My sisters room (accessible) had a bed that had a large sagging middle section. She had a little trouble “rolling” out. She found a bunch of trash behind one of the nightstands that had fallen behind it from previous occupants. Our room was okay, just some cosmetic stuff. One of the lights were out over the sink area making it dim for my wife to put on makeup. The toilet handle was very loose. I thought it might fall off every time I flushed. Close quarters in the bathroom. Needed to side step between the toilet and the tub to get the door open or else had to duck under towel rack to open the door. Bed was comfortable, and had a mini fridge and microwave to use for leftovers. An occasional train behind hotel was loud when they did come through, but nothing can be done for that. For the price it’s a good place since you probably won’t be using it much other than sleeping.

It's near a Frank Lloyd Wright house.

Front desk staff very nice and efficient. Good location for Lincoln House and surrounding area.

DO NOT STAY HERE.
We left and stayed somewhere else. Room was in disrepair, grimy, plaster disintegrating, stains on the beds and no covers on the duvets. Deadlock didn’t work. Room stank of cigarettes.
Area was so dodgy. Absolutely frightening.
Stay away.

Expensive for the quality. I payed the same amount for 2 nights here as I did for 7 nights elsewhere. There was no breakfast either.

Busy train tracks right behind the hotel. They never cleaned the room while we were there. We had to take our dirty towels down to the front desk to exchange for clean ones. It was clean when we arrived. They were prompt in addressing the clogged drain in the tub. Doesn’t have an elevator, so the stairs are hard on bad knees and hips.

Hotel needs updating, train runs behind the hotel, room was not soundproof like described. The hot water was warm after you had to let it run for 5 minutes per the front desk. If you are looking for a room with a bed this is your hotel.

The rug on the floor was just filthy looked at least 10 or years old, very low running water and no elevator and we where put on second floor I had to carry all are luggage up two flights of stairs, and so did my wife with a bad knee from a replacement and on a cane it was the worst trip with the worst hotel stay I've ever been though I would never use them again or recommend them to no one
