Hotel it self was okay but there extensive building work taking place which we were not informed about.
Some facilities were closed (pool etc)

Amazing

restaurant and leisure facilities closed. alternatives offered by management for eating in room and adjacent restaurant which I didn’t use. hotel across road had good and reasonably priced menu which I found more than acceptable, otherwise evening dining required long walk to V&A or Uber (reliable and cheap). rooms recently updated clean, bright and fresh with kettle and posh coffee maker. very efficient A/C, exceptionally helpful and cheerful staff coped well with cramped mini reception facility. enjoyed my stay but advertised relaxation facilities unavailable and there didn’t seem any chance of returning when work finishes (splash pool and garden) as area now very cramped.

Reasonable budget hotel. Renovation in progress.

Hotel was being renovated. I only receives this info after booking. First room i was put in was on ground floor with a window that wouldn't lock. I asked for a different room. New room was ok, but had rubbish from previous guests under the bed. Staff very helpful, but given the state of the hotel, it was massively over priced. No restaurant/gym/business centre.

The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, but the rooms have been recently updated and are spacious and comfortable. The staff are friendly and eager to help, especially when we had a technological learning curve with our TV. Overall, I highly recommend!

I had reasonable expectations for this hotel but unfortunately expectations were not met. They fell well short really. The beds were hard and pillows were flat so it was hard to get a good night sleep. The housekeeping ladies knocked on the door at 8am each morning wanting to remake the room. Seems pretty early to be doing that. Would have hung a doo not disturb sign on the door but the hotel didn’t have those.
The water ran dark brown one day. The guy at the front desk said the city turned the water off for a while which caused it…maybe.
On top of that, they were doing significant renovations to the hotel so the restraint was closed, the bar was closed and the worked started at 8am too. The whole place smelt strongly of wet paint fumes the whole time. They would have been best to close the hotel for such significant renovations but no, they stayed open and charged the full rate.
Even without the renovations I would never go back here. Could be a good hotel but it just isn’t.

The rooms were nice and kept well cleaned. The timing for me was not good as the hotel closed it's restaurant for renovations. So there was no room service. The day before I left they started renovating the reception area. So I am very sure it will be much better when it is ready. I will be back.

In the tail end of updates and was better than expected for the price.

I would give this hotel a 5 star except for checking in when the very nice man had to tell us that there was No Water in the room, and here are bottles for sale! What corporate jerk decided not to have a couple water bottles in every room? Raise the price 2 dollars. Otherwise, service and food, people excellent

Nice hotel. Situated between the V&A Waterfront and the City Centre. Both are easy walking distances. Quite a spacious room with a modern bathroom and a large shower area. Good value for money. Very pleasant and professional Staff.

The rate was very reasonable compared to other nearby properties so we didn’t really have high expectations.
Our room was spacious and contained good variable lighting excellent rain shower.
But best of all was the friendly and helpful staff.
We couldn’t wish for better place so close to the waterfront and city.

It was ok. Very little attention offered by staff

Odd to not have a rubbish bin in my room (just a TINY one in the bathroom) and nothing to put recyclables into. I took them to a cleaner with a trolley - to find she merely added these items to the general garbage.
No idea why the safe is in the inaccessible place just above the floor. Despite there being two UK plugs in my room, neither worked. Also, no place to charge USB cable.
Lovely shower!

Great spot for a stay in the heart of Cape Town

Hotel was great in a central location with clean comfortable rooms. The only issue arose with check in when the staff couldn’t find my reservation— unclear if that was a problem with hotels.Com or the hotel itself. But otherwise a wonderful stay.

Great value and canal walking path to Victoria wharf. Convenient restaurant with good food.

An excellent lodging experience. The view of the canal was beautiful and serene. The food and drink options were exceptional and very economical. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The room was superior, except the desk light didn't work, even though i swapped out the light bulbs.

Found the walk to the Waterfront further than expected. Disappointed with the first room allocated, however changed to more favourable room. Very comfortable bed and value for money for the area.

Was let down by the hotel I had previously booked so managed to book City Lodge at the last minute.
From check-in right through my stay I felt very welcome and the staff were amazing. The restaurant was also very nice and food was amazing.

We loved looking out onto the canal and the convenience of being able to walk to the waterfront. The staff was also extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would recommend this hotel to others.

One of the best decisions I made was staying at The City Lodge at the V and A Waterfront. Location is perfect. It is an attractive looking place about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the V and A Waterfront (where there are tons of resturants (try La Prada. Food is delicious), souvenir shopping, grocery store (in the mall in the basement), etc.. There are cops everywhere, so it was a safe walk that I did solo all the time, as I was traveling by myself. It is busy during the day around the hotel, but at night, as it is an area with a lot of corporate businesses, it got really deserted. I took ubers if going out at night. The hotel itself was clean and quiet. The staff are hard workers! Always willing to help make your stay amazing. They have breakfast and dinner at an extra charge. You have the choice between Contenental Breakfast or English Breakfast. I was there for a while so I did go to the coffee shop next door to the hotel and had oatmeal and tea there twice. It was delicious. The location is central to everything. 3 mins in an Uber to Gold Restaurant. 5 mins to Long street. The room was well appointed. Large bathroom, huge shower, air conditioning, refrigerator, windows open for fresh air, couch, sitting area with desk large mirror and good lighting. Vending machines in the lobby and they sell large bottles of cold water at the bar. The 'pool' is really hottub size and it is right next to the hotel restaurant. It was not clean. I was so busy, I wouldnt have used it anywa
