We stayed in the upper tier called the "Level". The ease of having a refreshment and snacks (very nice tapas) plus the open access to the spa on return from the slopes makes this hotel very special. I will always try to stay at this hotel "If it is available". Book in advance.

I didn’t get the room we booked so we had to bed the sofa and it was dirty. Not a nice experience. Not worth 810€ and the spa is not included it cost 30€. We did love the saxophone entertainment but the qlounge staff is stressed and rude and it’s leaking water from the roof.

The check in lady, could do with a little advice regarding smiling & attitude, Our check out lady "Carmen" was fantastic, friendly helpful everything we would expect, rather than the lady who checked us in.

Great location, excellent breakfast buffet (make sure to be there at 8 when they open, a looong line at 8.30), nice bar. The spa was not worth the money, in my opinion. At this price level, surprised it was not included in the price. However, by far the worst experience in this hotel was the horrible sound proofing of the walls (we stayed on the first floor). We could hear a lot of noise from the floor below as well as every word spoken in the hotel room next door. Impossible to fall asleep until all other guests had gone to bed. Will not stay there again, which is too bad given all the other positives of this hotel

Meila Sol Y Nieve is a very nice hotel close to all the shops, bars and restaurants. It is very close to the lifts for the snow sports with a convenient locker room for the skis/boards etc. We had issues with the plastic/electronic door keys that constantly deactivated requiring us to to to reception every day and on one day every-time we left the room. Ask for valet parking as the underground parking lot is one of the most difficult parks I have every driven a car. But overall a fabulous hotel.

A nice hotel with nice location, but at this price you expect a real restaurant with real food ! This restaurant was busier, more noicy and chaotic than a McDonalds.. The restaurant staff did a brilliant job, but where there are not enough seats and not enough food; whant can they do ?

The noise is a nightmare. The room walls are paper thin. The family in the room next to us was crazy loud, but the front desk wouldn’t move us to a quiet room. Said that the only room they could move us to would have “family” rooms on both sides and probably be just as loud. Paying $400 a night to not even be able to sleep is insane. Definitely not recommended.

Positives: clean, fantastic shower, the spa and sauna was nice after a long day skiing, if you book a room at The Level, then you get good service and facilites. The Level Lounge offers free drinks and snacks all day and a nice quiet breakfast facility. The Level room was very nice. Staff went the extra mile to make sure that you're needs were met.Negatives: when we arrived we had not booked a room on The Level, we'd paid £692 for 2 nights, half board. For that we were offered a nice room but it was a small double with dated fixtures and fittings. There was no milk for tea in the room and when I came to ask for it at reception the receptionist was not interested in helping me at all, she just said oh well you'll need to call room service and ask for it, then when I asked for a bottle opener she said, go to the bar. The spa was not included in the price so would have cost £35 per person, per usage, which would be a pre booked 1.5 hr time slot. We decided to pay an extra £298 to upgrade the The Level, which includes the spa access and free drinks and snacks all day at the lounge, including alcohol. The second we upgraded the service changed from treating us as a minor inconvenience to 5 star vip service. Most of the staff were friendly and genuine but the woman who went from cold and rude to fawning and all smiles let the whole team down. The beds we like camp beds on wheels and kept rolling away from the wall as I sat up. Ice was £3.20 extra. Not good value for money.

Public areas of gotel were very modern and smart, in keeping with what you would expect from Melia brand. However, bedroom was tired looking and certainly no more than 3 star.
Breakfast was excellent.
Be warned, this hotel sells itself on the spa facilities, and pictures of spa feature heavily.
Very disappointed to discover you could not use any of the facilities, even the pool, without a €30 charge per person.
Thos should be clearer in descriptions.

I stayed at the Sol Y Nieve about five years ago with my daughter and was very pleased it hadn't changed or got tired. It does everything well, reception, restaurant, rooms all good. Food was hearty and plentiful, buffet style. Facilities are good and it's close enough to the ski lifts not to be to irksome at the end of the day.Not good that the spa was extra, would like to have known when I booked.

The phone in room didn’t work. I had to use the one in the toilet to book room service. When it didn’t arrive they delivered to the wrong room. It took over an hour for the food to arrive. The room was very dated and there was a used glass of water left in the room on the bedside table when I arrived. The signage in the hotel was also confusing. The ski locker didn’t work twice which took over an hour to resolve. Just not great.

I Think that just to pricing of the room pr. Night is not worth the Price. If You wanna go to the spa.... extra money again... then You have to buy special shoes and cap to go to the spa.... extra pricing....
The place is getting old. Needs renovation....

A good hotel and well located. However, our room was not really up to the standard we expect from Melia. The shower head was leaking and the sound insulation to the room was really poor.
Excellent buffet breakfast

Fantastic stay at Melia Sol Y Nieve. Hotel wasn't busy and was offered an upgrade to the Level Lounge. This included a better room, free access to the Spa (for both of us) and access to the family and adult-only lounges in the hotel, which provided free drinks and snack all day.The upgraded room was excellent, well-equipped and comfortable. Large walk in shower and decent sized bathroom was great. Beds were comfortable, heating fairly easy to control (on radiator) and blackout curtains enabled a decent sleep.Breakfast choice is huge, varied and high quality. Great way to start the day. The hotel is perfectly positioned in the main square with easy access to the main lifts. The hydrotherapy pool in the spa is fantastic - we used it every afternoon after skiing and it definitely eased muscle soreness. Sauna/Steam rooms all good.I had only one moment of dissatisfaction during my week long stay when food I had ordered arrived not as requested. I complained (politely!) and the waitress rectified the situation by removing from the bill. We ate in the bar a few times and service/food was good each time.I usually ski in France. This stay was a revelation. I'll be back to SN and the Melia Sol Y Nieve next year.

When we arrived, we had to wait at least 20 minutes to check-in as the family ahead of us who were checking out were complaining about the quality of their stay and there was no one else to assist us.
Room was adequate but for one of the top hotels in the resort was disappointed that there was no kettle with tea & coffee making facilities.
Onsite parking is very expensive compared to large public underground car park which is 2 minutes walk away.
The only way that you could get access to the pool was to pay over 30 euros each ta access the spa. With a 9 year old, we didn't want the spa, just a pool. Other hotels we stay in allow pool access and pay extra for the spa. This hotel feature the pool in their marketing but in reality this is a third party operation which is expensive.
The buffet breakfast was very good before skiing.
This is the fourth visit to Sierra Nevada and we decided to treat ourselves which I don't think was value for money. There a number of other options, for example Trevenque, which are more than adequate for skiing and far better value for money!

Room was in poor condition with loose floor tiles in the en suite and a window which would not close properly forcing us to endure the loud street noise until the early hours of the morning. It's a shame that such an expensive hotel does not offer complimentary use of the the spa facilities without upgrading the room.

I like the hotel in general, breakfast and diners are huge ! But the only thing that I would change as soon as possible is the Rooms decorations and furnitures, it's old fashioned and to dark . The light it's very poor inside the rooms , they should change the lamps . That's all, on the other side everything else is perfect , including the location. Many good restaurants and the ski lifts are walking distance!

We booked a family room but hotel tried to give us a room that wouldnt be comfortable for 4 people. They did change the room but we had to make a case for it. VERY disappointed at charge for Pool/Spa area €35 per day per adult - that would have added €350 on our trip. The Free Pool was a kids pool a little larger that 2 baths - we booked this place based on facilities after SKI and paid a lot of money. I didnt see any notice before arrival of this extra charges, feel very cheated and very DISAPPOINTED,

We went for family skiying.Excellent location and kimdness. However, the room they gave us was old and the bath sink did not drain properly. Further one of the cookers did not properly clean the frying pan after each meal.

Had a very good early season break at the Sol Y Nieve hotel. It was quite quiet when we were there (early December mid-week) but there were activities each day in the gym (skiing was enough exercise for me to be honest) and live music each evening. The breakfast selection is fantastic with a live cooking omelette and pancake station along with excellent hot and cold breakfast options and a beautiful view of the sunrise over the valley.
The room was a good size and had comfortable beds - the only minor gripe would be the lack of tea / coffee making facilities.
The ski lockers were very modern with easy access to the slopes.
We didn't try the spa but were very tempted - it did look ideal to loosen the muscles after a day on the slopes.

We were attracted to the hotel for the spa and the Melia quality. We had a superior room and found the facilities were extra eg. the spa and the parking an additional fee. The staff didnt explain to us that the lockers were for ski storage despite taking us down there to a toilet to change on arrival as our room wasnt ready for us

An absolute waste of energy. Slept with window open all night and all heating turned off. Snow gun blowing at 2:00 am for several hours. It was so noisy so we closed the window, but the heat in the kids bunk bed was unbearable although our room heating was off. The lift in the centre of the hotel was so hot that the kids were out of breath and unbearable. Called reception for room service, but was told to come down to reception to order as they do not take order on phone!!!

We have stayed at this hotel for the last 5 years. A bit disappointed that evening dinner wasn't served until 8pm (children were hungry) was 7pm in earlier years. Pool was being charged at €30 per child per day, free in previous years !

The walls are really thing. You can perfectly hear any conversation in the room next door.
