We were thrilled with the location - only a 2-lane street across from the beach! It is ultra-modern, despite being opened in 2011. Staff are very helpful and accomodating. The 2-queen-bed room is a bit tight for opening luggage, but the bathroom is great! (Except for no towel drying racks.) The downside at the time we were there, there was no restaurant or bar due to remodeling. On-site valet underground parking is pricey.
So many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance! We hope to stay there again!

The employees (especially Ramon, Sean, and Ari?) were all friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and the food suggestions excellent.

Great team, room and pool facilities. Just some renovation work between foyer and lifts, very minor point. Overall excellent hotel.

The club that is close to the hotel was way too loud until almost 2 am. That was disappointing

My issue is that this does not feel like a 4 star hotel. This is a 2 star in a good location, albeit with a good hospitality playbook for the staff.
The rooms are small and oddly designed. (WHY a glass wall in the bathroom? WHY? WHY two phones to clutter up scarce counter space? WHY a locked minibar permanently installed but a fridge that gets brought in only on demand??)
The beds/pillows are terrible. Again, 2 star quality. The hotel was also under construction, making it unpleasant.
The front desk staff has been trained in helpfulness, undeniably - however, as i was checking in, both clerks on duty were so engaged in explaining to one guest where she could find dinner that neither of them greeted me for several minutes. Also, hospitality clearly has limits - when we tried to sit down at the outdoor eating space to have our Starbucks coffee, we were immediately told to leave (even though the place was empty).
It's a great location. But that alone is not worth the money. We could have stayed at a far more comfortable chain (Hyatt, Hilton) for the same (or slightly lower) cost. A friendly desk staff does not make up for a lumpy bed.

Excellent service on arrival. Lovely room and location

Location is good. However, hotel itself needs some TLC. Lobby is under construction and looks run down. Room itself looked dated, and lighting was horrible. Zero water pressure. Felt like it was just water trickling and shower looked dirty. Beds are not very comfortable. Close to lots of restaurants and walking distance to the ocean, etc.

Perfect location across from the pier

Our 2nd stay, its a lovely hotel, really close to the Pier and local attractions. The staff are lovely, too. We won't stay anywhere else when we visit Santa Monica.

Hotel has amazing views while still feeling like you’ve got some privacy. Service was excellent and our room was gorgeous. Will definitely be staying here again!

Everything was within walking distance. Parking at the hotel is very expensive though.

First thing is no one thought to tell us there were construction works. According to Michael a director of the hotel it was refurbishment!!!!! Which not as bad. What ever you want to call it there was drilling. Dry walling. New walls. Areas taken off the swimming pool area for the new building. Blocked off access areas. Blocked off pool areas. Dry walking. Workmen on site the whole time we were there. There was no lounge. No dining room. No more than 15 chairs around the pool for 165 rooms at any one time. all due the work. This hotel does not provide luxury even if everything was in order. How Expedia can class this 4 star I’m not sure. Maybe it’s the position but the position though good it’s very noisy especially in the on weekends. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. When booking anything these days the booking sites and trip advisor are what a client relies on.
I would not recommend to anyone. Possible not Expedia either
As some compensation my party was awarded a room with a sea view as opposed to our original room which was facing the back of a restaurant where the staff swore, exposed their bottom and “smoked”. We had a 6 year old with us!!!!!
I was also not charged resort fee. To charge a resort fee in a hotel having construction around the only resort part of the hotel verges on fraud. We were given a food allowance if $60 a day for three people.
I was told they would refund my whole stay minus the night we had stayed there I presume and I could

Very convenient to Santa Monica Beach. Rooms are clean and staffs are nice. But Ocean Ave is very noisy with people voices and loud cars passing by even pass 1am. Plus the pool and hot tube are being serviced beginning on the 2nd morning of our stay. My sons were disapponted. Power washing was loud early morning.

Excellent play to stay

Horrible noisy construction directly under our room. Unfulfilled room service orders due to issues with the kitchen. Elevators had constant issues and routinely didn’t work. Avoid the Shore Hotel.

Comfortable hotel near a few great attractions. Pool and hot tub was relaxing. The hotel had some construction in the lobby but was not an issue. Book bike rentals early because they have a limited number of bikes

Great views, but high priced for no other amenities. I was expecting a microwave in the room or a free continental breakfast. Not sure if I would stay again.

This is a great hotel that close to a ton of restaurants, the pier, and a short uber ride to The Getty Museum, and also Venice Beach. Ask the concierge or front desk which restaurants are best. We had a balcony with a view of the pier & the ocean. It was a little cool, so we didn't get to the pool. It looks cool weather permitting. Staff is awesome too! Super friendly, so stay here when in Santa Monica.
