Where to start?
Checkin slow and unfriendly.
The safe didn’t work.
Room was poor, no fridge, no tv, twin beds pushed together, not double bed, very tired.
Restaurant food inconsistent, some nice food but some very bad, the duck we had was inedible and didn’t even resemble duck.
I could not recommend this hotel at all, we were so disappointed.

Clean and newer, just beware of height of the room. If you are taller than 5 feet make sure you dont get room 301 or 302. Restaurant crew fenomenal as is the food. Will definitely stay here again.

Great views from the room and all around the Hotel.Mountain views with a river flowing beside it.Friendly Staff. The Hotel is solid stone building with heavy timbers inside and out which adds to the sense of being in a special place.

Excellent! Drinks, such as coffee and soda are expensive, but food in the cafe is excellent and very reasonable. Food in the restaurant, plates ( dinner plates) is not as flavorful and quality is sometimes not as good, and way more expensive.

One more overnight stay at a great location.Good value Menu del Dia for approx 12 euro (3 courses including bread, wine and water). Buffet breakfast included in our room rate.Welcoming and helpful receptionist who spoke English extremely well, which helped with a slight problem with the en-suite bathroom.
Good free parking available adjacent to Hotel which although not secured has good lighting and cctv coverage.
Very rural location so no other facilities close by.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The receptionist spoke perfect English but was happy for me to try my broken Spanish and one word of Basque.
Triple room was comfortable and large with a great shower. Wifi worked and everything was as it was on the website.
We ate both nights in the cafeteria: not the bar or the formal restaurant. Food was excellent.
Etxalar is a small village a few kms from Hotel Venta. We drove to see it and it is very pretty. Some bars and restaurants.
Hotel is well placed to visit San Sebastián and is good stopover to France.
Would recommend and visit again.

I reserved this hotel 2 times. The first time Expedia told me that the hotel cannot honor my reservation anymore. The second time, they even did not notify me or Expedia. Once I got there tired, exhausted, and hungry, they simply told us that our room was already cancelled and given to another guest! The hotel is in the middle of mountains, with limited or no phone/internet reception, and it's absolutely not wise to take a chance and go there only to know they don't have room for you! It's highly unlikely that you can find another hotel within 20 miles, especially during the high season, and you cannot even call Expedia to reserve another hotel for you. Overall, a very bad experience.

Nice building, dating back to 1300s merged with a new wing. State of the art bathrooms and furniture. High end mattress wider than king! Very clean. Convenient to ocean towns if you have a car...

Good place to stay if you are planning to visit San Sebastian. Good air con & wifi. Rooms clean but a bit basic. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choices. We had dinner there as well, food was just OK but the prices are reasonable.

This hotel is located in the mountains conveniently located next to the main highway, only 25 minutes away from St-Jean-de-Luz. The property is clean, but the walls were very thin. We were awoken every morning by the vaccuum cleaners and cleaning ladies doing their job in adjoining rooms. The breakfast is delicious, with a vast buffet variety.

This was our umpteenth stay at this hotel which is handy for our travels to our Spanish property. We arrived on the first hot day of the year and had our usual room 211. However the room was unbearably hot, and trying the air-conditioning proved hopeless as it only pored out HOT air. When we complained we were dismissed with the notion that it will be cold tomorrow. Persisting, we were provided with a free standing fan which only circulated the hot air!!. The staff then said that they had turned on the air-con, but the really meant that they had turned off the hot-air. That night we slept on top of the bedclothes!!. The food was another disappointment for while we accept that the fixed menu at just 10 euros we couldnt expect 5star cooking, serving fries that were a plié of barely warm, greasy ugg! was not expected. They were the worst fries that we have ever been served in Europe. whats more when we complained when checking-out the receptionist remembered that he could no longer understand English. The Hotel really needs to seriously address these falling standards, as there are lots of other Hotels in the immediate area.

It was such a joy to return to Espana after three months away and after driving down through France, it was wonderful to feel Spanish again in this venta. It offers a comfortable, sound night´s respite. The mountain stream outside our window and the view of the mountain were special treats. It is easy to see why travellers would stay here again and again. Desk staff were friendly as was the bar man. The room and bathroom were modern and tastefully decorated. Parking was available, no problem. I was even able to get wifi in the room. Easy to recommend this venta.

This was our 5th stay over the past few years and standards are still high. The swimming pool at the rear of the Hotel has been replaced with what looks like a function venue which has made the area a lot smarter. The menu del dia at around 10 Euros is great value. The buffet breakfast (included in room rate) is also very good.Located in a wonderful area with ample free off road parking.

This hotel is located well if you are planning to explore the very pretty Basque area of northern Spain. The hotel is comfortable and provides a reasonable breakfast. Parking is plentiful and free out the front of the hotel. Note that the hotel is not in the actual Extalar village and is at the junction of the road up to the village. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will provide advice on the area.

Conveniently situated close to the N121A Pamplona/Irun road, the hotel offers a relaxing place to stay with a choice of 3 eating venues ranging from tapas to gourmet cuisine. Friendly, helpful staff, closed parking facilities available, good food and comfortable beds in rooms of character . My wife and I were very pleased and will stop-over again on our way from England into Spain.

Beautiful hotel which is far in excess of its 2 star rating. A very warm welcome, first class restaurant, we will definately stay again when in the area.
