We were looking for an affordable room in Assisi so we didn’t need luxury. This fit the bill. The best thing about it was the restaurant in the hotel, which had excellent food and groups of pilgrims.

The property is in a very convenient location within Assisi and the staff are very friendly and accommodating

La Rocca is a lovely little hotel. The staff is kind, friendly and accomodating. Christian (one of the owners) seems to work 24 hours a day to make the guests happy.
I did not stay in the main hotel. There is an annex up some outdoor steps. It was fine, but not if you have a problem walking.
Overall the hotel was very Franciscan in its simplicity.
Luxury -no. Family warmth, comfortable room, and caring staff-YES! I would definitely stay there again.

I can’t say enough about the wonderful family that runs La Rocca. We arrived late driving a very large van that we were hesitant to drive into the city. They came up the road to meet us and guide us down and assisted us in getting it parked in their parking lot. The next day the Van wouldn’t start, they had a mechanic come immediately, even though all the local auto shops were closed. After a quick fix they helped us get out of the city walls again also.
They kept the restaurant open late for us, and the whole staff made us feel welcome and not rushed even those it was well past their closing time.
We Had three medium to large dogs with us and they were more than happy to accommodate them.
The level of service exceeds 5 star.
The location is great, at the top of the hill. Just minutes walk in to town.
Breakfast was simple, Breads, Meats, cheeses fruit and the like. With coffee and fresh juice.
The Dinner menu had plenty of choice, although I personally didn’t care for the spaghetti carbonara as I found it far too salty. The veal was excellent, as were the mixed appetisers.
The room was basic and functional. The beds were firm. The pillows were harder than I like, and fairly flat. I can see where the complaints about this have justification.
For the cost, the room was adequate for one night. But the level of service was priceless.

Hotel was at the end of one of the roads in Assisi. (I wouldn’t recommend coming with much to carry). Check in was a little crazy with 24 people because they didn’t have some of our rooms and we were in two separate buildings but breakfast was great and it was quiet during the night. It was a little difficult to get staff to help anytime after 10p. Good for a night but know that you are climbing to the top of the city if you stay here

Great affordable room. Love the peacefulness of Assisi.

The arrangement we had (in writing) was not available upon arrival. We (two friends) were offered a kingsize bed in a single room. After telling the desk person that this was inappropriate, I was shown a loft room up a steep flight of stairs. Unacceptable...we were referred to another hotel owned by the same company, which was somewhat an improvement.

Hotel was basic and fitting for the price. Nothing special, but the price was acceptable. Breakfast was basic Italian breakfast but I was pleased that special coffees like cappuccinos were included for no extra charge. Location is the best thing about hotel with la Rocca and center close by. Bathroom was extremely small, toilet was in the shower. Nothing unusual if you are used to Europe and Italian hotel rooms, but could be off putting for those from other places.

Air conditioning loudly cycled on & off with strange clicks. Alternatively if windows were opened, barking dogs! The pillows were hard as boards. Those issues made sleeping difficult.

The hotel was located in a beautiful area of Assisi, the upper town. We were able to take a bus to the lower town and then walk to the Basilica. This was all good however the staff at La Rocca were not welcoming. They seemed annoyed most of the time. In addition, the shower was literally right in front of the toilet. The shower curtain enclosed the tiny shower area and the toilet area. So when you took a shower, the toilet/floor was soaked. Not very appealing. I wouldnt go back to La Rocca but I would stay in area again.

La Rocca is a nice family run hotel. The family are busy with all the work from preparing the breakfast and serve our dinner. Very nice !

Perfect location in this quaint small town. A great room with a beautiful terrace and incredible views of the mountains. The restaurant was amazing too! The views, the food, and the service were all excellent! Everything was within walking distance and easy access to public transportation. We arrived by train and took the local bus (1.30 Euro pp) to a stop 1 block from the hotel.

A nice hotel, with a good location and available parking area for a daily charge. The only issues I had, were that our reservations were not exactly correct when I arrived, but all was resolved at first check -in, and the noisiness in the rooms was tough to bear. It felt like anyone in the hall or in the surrounding rooms were sharing your room. A bit tough when a big family was staying down the hall.

the hotel is small and so are the rooms ,no frig in the room , location is good you have to pay for parking but there is free parking nearby , no breakfast

We stayed for two nights, and truthfully would have enjoyed it more if it hadn't rained the second day. That said, we found the service to be polite but indifferent. For example, the water was. I nicely hot the first night, but when we tried to take a shower on the second night, the water ran lukewarm though we ran the tap for a long time. When we told the desk about the situation, they did check the heater (normal) and even went up to the room to check the tap temperature. By then the temperature was a bit warmer but not enough for a decent shower. They insisted that the temperature was normal even though it was not. We had to run it for a very long time after that to get a proper temperature. Clearly, the water in the pipes needed to run out, and the pipes needed to warm before "normal" would return. That should have been something communicated to us rather than suggesting that our demands were somehow out of place.
We got the facilities that we needed: a clean, quiet room, a comfortable bed, parking, an elevator, and a pleasant view out our window all at a fair price. However, we would have also liked a bit of human warmth.

Very pleasant place to stay. Our stay require half board which provided all the food we needed for each 24 hour period. Large portions and especially delicious pastas. We would recommend.

The hotel is in a beautiful area on the upper side of Assisi. Staff is helpful. No problems but expect to pay extra for parking (6 euros/day) , breakfast (4 euro/day) and Internet (4 euro/24 hour). Te internet works near the lobby only, and the connection is sometimes weak.
