Comfortable and well-placed in the centre of town.

Started well, receptionist very helpful, and free parking if you can find a space (we did).
Room small but OK, clean enough.
But two things let it down.
The noise from people walking through the courtyard in the evening was unbearable. We were expecting a bit of noise, and were out quite late ourselves, but there was shouting and chanting etc until the small hours. The room was very hot so we had to choose noise over heat and keep the window open (no aircon).
The breakfast was very poor, I love a full English, and this was the first time I've ever left one. The service was non existent, no cold water, no hot water, no tea bags. And not just us, others were sending things back to be cooked or changed

Room was smelly, foisty, damp.
Over charged initially by £1k!!
Noisy beyond belief.
Staff off duty, drunk and loud in pub.

Greeting was okay, I asked for my invoice to be emailed to me and at time of writing (over 24 hours after arrival) still not received. I was in room 3 on ground floor, bed was comfortable, desk to work at in room and en-suite was okay. Window in en-suite was open but too high up to be closed. In morning when I got in shower there was no hot water from shower. The sink had hot water. When I told staff on leaving about the lack of hot water from shower, he did not seem that interested or bothered. Lots of places in High Street to go and eat at. Will not stay here again.

Room leading directly above the walkway and pub car park - very loud outside of room until around 11.30 pm.

Room was clean and had space. However wall paper peeling off walls. Marks on walls and doors. Bed uncomfortable to sleep on. Bathroom very moist with condensation everywhere. Rooms noisy above and adjacent. Reception helpful and friendly. Dont eat at Green King pub better food available at a cheaper price next door in Wetherspoons.

This is the best place to stay if you want the real old England experience. Food and service was outstanding. Staff were very attentive. I highly recommend!

The welcome here is warm and genuine. The corridors are faded and in places smell a bit funny but the rooms are clean with lovely bedlinen, a proper wardrobe and two chairs- most hotels only provide one in standard rooms.. Bathroom was sparkling and spacious, but nowhere to put toiletries etc except on the sink or the tiny shelf below the mirror - not a big deal for one night, might get annoying for two or three. Good breakfast, large portions for cooked food. We were charged twice for the room but that may be a function of the app as the hotel only got one payment - they are looking into it for us. Once that's sorted out we will definitely stay there again.

Not good for anyone with a disability, no ground floor rooms, no lift, too many steps up and down, even a high step up to the bathroom.
No other room available.

Very poor sleep , bed was too hard , noise into early hours from drunk people screaming shouting beeping horns slamming car doors . No point in having curtains up because they stop zero light coming in the room

Hotel is ideally located, quality and overall room condition is well below average standards. Shower regulater didn't work, although a late booking, the shower was larger than shower space the fixtures were dated, although some upgrading in some places ongoing. Breakfast was ok and the staff was helpful and friendly. The carpets are well used an tired

The Sun was generally tired but clean and staff were polite.
Our issue was the nightclub next to the hotel our room overlooked Sun Street were taxis and picks up were happening along with large crowds of rowdy nightclub individuals at one point 50 plus of them right below our room. Noise went on until 2.15am
Nightmare night of sleep.

Me and my parter checked in around 3am then but got advised to call the number on the door and the nightstaff was very kind and helpful upon arrival checked us in no issues. I only booked the hotel because i was under the assumption i could check out at 12pm which was my mistake. We woke up around 11:30am by the manager I'm guessing, repeatedly knocking on the door to which my partner opened the door and said were just getting ready sorry we'll be a few mins. The lady then repeatedly kept knocking to which then i opened the door and said yes we heard you sorry were literally leaving. Then the lady then said were meant to check out at 11 so we're going to be charged for it and that she was going to call the police! I was sooo SHOCKED IN DISBELIEF i replied " sorry " ??? Im still shell-shocked by the attitude she had against us and have also taken it further by letting head office of green to deal with incident that occurred because nobody should have the right to speak to anyone like that. We simply checked in and went straight to sleep within 15-20 mins as we were both shattered. She was an eastern european lady with no professional experience in talking to customers. Highly rude and avoid her at all costs. Im sure head office will certainly take this seriously once reading the email of ordeal we went through. Disgraceful and absolutely appalled by how she conducted herself.

Friendly staff. Very clean room. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was perfect. And half the price per room than the local Premier Inn! All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Filthy room, came away with bites either from fleas I guess or bed bugs. Bathroom was very dirty, window ledges dirty, very dusty everywhere. Also noisy.

Lovely staff, great breakfast though they cooked wrong order they were so apologetic we almost felt bad. Checkin staff were great. The hotel is in ancient buildings so don't expect noise insulation, double glazing etc. The room was clean, large and comfortable. Bathroom was bit cramped but clean and good water pressure. Our room was one first floor over hotel entrance. Might have been noisy earlier but we were out till midnight and had no issues. Lovely location in olde worlde town centre. Parking was free and fine, glad we had sat nav to find it, it's down a windy access road. There were about 5 spaces left at 630pm so maybe you would struggle if arriving later. Overall good experience, would stay again but it is a basic not luxury experience.

Beautiful old building but could do with a major refurbishment- carpets and bathrooms are very tired. There was a party going on in the pub the night I stayed, so it was pretty noisy.

The property was very tired and didn’t seem very clean. Everything was fine but seemed like it hadn’t been updated in a long time.

Allocated room 9 & the heating didn’t work. Although to be fair there was a plug in radiator, but it wasn’t warm enough.
Reallocated room 25. Which was a better room but the toilet wouldn’t flush solid waste away. It was fixed twice but still had issues.
The staff were excellent though & offered to fix any complaints.

Nothing like the pictures at all. Very dated,
Noisy pipe work throughout the night and paper thin walls.
8.0 / 10.0
The room was clean and comfortable albeit in need of some modernisation but this fact wouldn't stop me from staying here again. The staff very excellent as was a very delicious freshly cooked breakfast. Ideal location for the centre of Hitchin.

Room was quite tired and in need of an upgrade. Rooms small but to be expected for the age of the building.
Plumbing needs attention as the pipe vibration at 0630 from another room showering at stupid a clock was a not needed wake up call.

For £105.00 on a Saturday evening in November this place was ‘pricy’. Considering you can get high quality budget accommodation nowadays for a lot lower price, this place is pushing it for the price. Well located in the heart of Hitchen, close to a 15 car parking allocation and all the shops within Hitchen centre you really are paying for the location. The room was adequate, had a funny smell (damp like) facilities weren’t amazing but ticked a box as available (iron, hair dryer, Tv, kettle, mirror etc. the shower was pretty tight - if your a big bloke you’ll struggle. If I’d of paid £50 for this it would have matched the price. Probably wouldn’t stay again.

The hotel beds are very comfortable.
However,I was charged twice for our stay.
I’m still waiting for my enquiry to be dealt with, could not get an answer from the Sun hotel despite numerous attempts
