Good location, clean, great breakfast options

Well located clean and tidy hotel; but the lift (next to our room) was both noisy and antiquated

Lovely little hotel, very central to town. We chose the hotel as we were there for a festival at the Spa, it is just a few minutes away from Scarborough Spa. The staff are friendly and very kind. Plenty of restaurants and cafes around, and it's just a short stroll to the beach. The hotel also provides earplugs as the seagulls can get rather loud.

Almost a home from home, clean room, comfortable bed, lovely breakfast served by friendly staff that couldn't do enough for you.
Also a surprise Easter chocolate gift.
It will be my first consideration when returning to Scarborough.

The property was of the time of the victorian era, rooms clean and tidy, staff very nice and friendly, food very good. Only down side was the parking very closely pack in to the point that we didn't think we would get back in. Which I dont think it is there fault. So a 4 and 5 from us.😆

Despite the more than 200 year age of this building, this is an extremely comfortable establishment, with just the occasional creak to betray it's heritage. Situated near to the beaches, the shopping areas and the theatre, the hotel has a refined atmosphere with very efficient, friendly service all round. The breakfast is served in elegant surroundings with a very enjoyable variety of options, making for an overall extremely pleasant stay. We will return.

This is an elegant B&B establishment, situated right in the centre of Scarborough, giving access to beaches and buses, station and shops, as well as restaurants and the renowned SJT Theatre. Despite being an elderly building, the rooms are very comfortable and the breakfasts of a very high standard, with friendly, attentive service. Parking (as everywhere in the town) can be difficult, but loading and unloading is permitted outside the hotel and car parks are within easy reach. A most enjoyable visit which we hope to repeat.

The location was excellent being close to the shops, bars and restaurants but the noise and mess from the seagulls was disappointing to say the least and other properties in the row lowered the tone somewhat. However, we had a pleasant stay although the room was stuffy despite the fan and the window not opening did not help this fact

The hotel was lovely, it was a bit dated and the plug for the iron was loose. (Told on departing)
The breakfast was lovely and plenty to choose from.
The only thing was the lift, on two occasions we had to use the stairs because someone had left the lift door open which was annoying.

Breakfast very attentive and courteous. Also smart and very covid aware.
Sadly though we found breakfast a little sparse.
The windows in the room were very draughty so felt cold in night.
Generally speaking we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Fantastic breakfast on the first morning, shame they couldn’t fit me in 2nd day. I’ve stayed at many hotels in Scarborough and their breakfast was by far the best! Lovely comfy room with soft sheets and pump pillows. Quirky old lift which always made me smile when using it. I would definitely stay again.

Oh dear! What a very disappointing stay. From check in to check out we felt we were an inconvenience and we were very glad to depart. If Basil Fawlty was around this would be his ideal home. Check in was unfriendly, unwelcoming and rather rude. The lift, an antiquated affair, with two noisy sliding doors did at least work but must have disturbed the occupants of nearby rooms. Our room was quite the smallest hotel room we have ever encountered, more akin to a small single than a double. It was also insufferably hot. A fan had been provided but this was not up to the task. Breakfast was adequate and greatly helped by having friendly staff. If there is one thing we can thank this wretched Covid pandemic for it is the demise of the dreaded breakfast buffet. Table service it was and this proved fairly efficient. Our breakfast was cooked to order and was of a fair standard. Pastries were old and rather stale. I feel desperately sorry for much of the hospitality industry but if the pandemic could clear away places like this then it would be doing us all a favour.

We had a nice little break staying at the Riviera. It’s situated perfect in Scarborough. Just a few minutes walk to the main shops, bars, restaurants and beach.
Apart from the squeaky floorboards and ridiculously sprung internal doors banging shut, it was pretty quiet.
Our room was the top floor at the back, pretty small and basic but clean and pleasant.
Breakfast was nice and the staff were fantastic.
Overall, a nice place.

Hotel advised we would have got a better room had we booked direct. No parking available had to pay an additional 12 pounds at the multi storey plus an additional 20 pounds for an upgrade. So much for supporting the private hoteliers
3.0
By the booking, I asked for a room upgrade if possible with no response. Upon arrival, I asked again and there was a possibility to upgrade but only our last night. AND that we had luck as the new room wasn't affected by the more expensive weekend rate, there would be no extra charges for the upgrade. At check-out we were presented with a new upgraded invoice! After explaining what I had been told, the manager then explained that it must have been lost in translation, although English is my mother language. This left us with a negative feeling to our otherwise fairly nice stay.
