Such a lovely place with fantastic hospitality from the staff. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options. The guesthouse had quirky deco and little touches like homemade biscuits made it extra welcoming.

We stayed at the Birkdale for two nights. Everything from checking in, the room, facilities, the comprehensive information pack were perfect. Everything has been thought of, and it has to be one of the cleanest hotels I have ever used everything was spotless. The breakfast choice was varied, and once again everything had been thought of, and was on the table ready upon arriving in the dining room. The food was fresh and delicious, and the service was great. Would highly recommend to anyone. Lesley and Colin were most helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for a lovely weekend. Nothing was too much trouble.

We had a fantastic three night stay thanks to Lesley, Colin and Sarah. From the welcoming chat, over a cup of coffee, Lesley and Colin were excellent and friendly hosts who provided everything that we could wish for to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We particularly enjoyed the nice touches such as Lesley’s homemade yoghurt at breakfast and her homemade biscuits, provided in the room, which were very tasty. The Guest House is spotlessly clean and well maintained and we had no COVID concerns. Rooms can be serviced daily on request but cleaning materials are also provided in the wardrobe. The breakfasts, which are pre-ordered the night before from an extensive menu, are very generous, delicious, cooked to perfection and served with a welcoming smile by Sarah. The breakfasts set us up for the whole day! We stayed in the first floor four poster bedroom which is very comfortable and spacious with a compact shower room. Additional comforts are a fan, hair dryer and small fridge for the storage of fresh milk and cold water. Two bottles of Spring Water are provided in the fridge which can be refilled from the complimentary water cooler in the hallway. There is one parking space available for each room and the Birkdale’s location is only a few minutes’ walk from Shanklin Old Village with its numerous attractions, shops, restaurants and pubs. We would thoroughly recommend the Birkdale and would have no hesitation in booking again the next time we visit the Isle of Wight.

We stayed for 4 nights in the Superior King with four-poster bed and we were not disappointed. Lesley and Colin were warm, friendly hosts and the room was large, airy and very clean. The shower room was compact but perfectly suitable and the breakfast choices were generous and beautifully cooked. All in all we were so pleased we stayed at the Birkdale and if (when) we return to Shanklin we will have no hesitation in booking at the Birkdale again.

The Birkdale is an excellent Hotel. Spotlessly clean, delicious breakfast, with a very nice selection of cereals, fruit and cooked. Our room was a good size, with very comfy bed and lovely en-suite. Well located property, with convenient off-road parking tight in front. Within a minute's walk from shops, pubs, and restaurants. The room we were in was large, airy, tastefully decorated and comfortable, with an en suite and a four-poster bed. Tea/coffee making facilities were provided, along with a hair dryer. I cannot think of anything amiss! The hosts were superb - very welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts on offer were of very high standard, with choices including superb cooked breakfast. Overall, an excellent stay for 3 nights was had by my wife and myself.

Book the twin room and staff very help full but I think the twin room on ground floor was a little small for my mum and dad but saying this mum and dad had a lovely’ stay thank you for taking care of them 👍 would book a big room next. I Recommend you look around the village 👍👍

Firstly the attention to detail was very good, from the makeup flannel to the lovely little jam pots, we were greeted with a cup of tea in a lovely lounge which was spotless, the bedroom was also very clean and tidy the decor was also very tasteful, my only downside was the bed for me it was to hard But that me, the location was very good with some nice places to eat within walking distance, all in all a lovely place to stay well done to Jackie and Bill,for a great stay and a great breakfast.

Immaculately clean, superior fixtures and fittings, you can tell the owners care and take a pride in their guest house. You dont need to ask for anything, they have thought of everything to the finest detail. Everything works as it should. We had a superior room upstairs, the shower was spacious and the water pressure was powerful. Another bonus is they have the same number of parking spaces as they have rooms. Superb breakfast. Very highly recommended.

Friendly, welcoming and attentive hosts. Location was excellent, being very close to the old village but in a quiet side street. The Birkdale was one of the cleanest B&Bs/Hotels we have stayed in. Our room was clean, well presented, larger than average and stocked with everything that we could need. Breakfasts were beautifully cooked and there was plenty of choice with accompaniments. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to this guest house and would also recommend it to friends and family.

Bill & Jackie are the perfect hosts! The rooms are en-suite and of a nice size can't fault a thing!! There is a full range of breakfast available and "The Birkdale Breakfast" is a must for any visitor!!! I booked this as a suprise break for our 1st wedding anniversary as i wanted to do "Shanklin Chine" as i'd heard it was a nice place to visit (and it was)!! Thank you for a most welcoming stay Bill & Jackie xx

Warm welcome and very accomodating couple. Jacqui and Bill really offer an exceptional level of service. The location is ideal and set in a very pretty part. I will return and highly recommend to others. If I were to say any area to improve it would be to have a slightly later check out time. Well done Birkdale.....

A most welcoming couple, Bill and Jackie. Pot of tea on arrival, nothing too much trouble. Breakfasts were really good, plenty to eat and efficiently served. Comfortable, clean room. Also an excellent location right next to Shanklin Old Village, the Chine, the seafront and many good places for evening meals - but off the main road, so good for those who like it quiet. This is definitely a place we'll return to when next on the island.
