Everything was excellent

The bed wasn’t clean, the shower head was broken and the worst was the smell in the room.

Location
6.0 / 10.0
The place was conveniently located in Madrid and next to a metro station, however, a bad experience upon check in got us off to a bad start and the room was VERY small and cramped for the price. Bathroom and showers are individual and shared, no common space, more of a hotel than hostel.

The worst place I’ve ever been! Unfortunately the cleanliness standard is very poor. The room was claustrophobic and it smelled really bad, also it seems people used to smoke in it. It was smelly so bad that the receptionist when let me in used a deodorant spray to cover it as I was walking in my room. The reception is very poor as well, quite dirty and old with the wall covered of stains.
The floor in my room was very dirty, I believe it wasn’t clean at all before my arrival, there was lots of dust and the bed sheets were disappointing too! Also there was a private room with towels drying on the door (which definitely was not very hygienic).
In addition to this the wall are very thin and you can literally hear everything happening outside your room.
The location is quite central and the price very affordable, however this doesn’t justify the room and hostel condition which definitely needs to be renewed and increase they cleaning standards.

I think everything was fine, just that I had to wait for over 10mintues to get the room clean up.

Good location, good water pressure. Check in was a breeze. We got the private room so we had a private bathroom. Only downside was no AC or fan in room.

Numancia was decent. Served the purpose of having a place to go back to & sleep after sightseeing all day. Walls are super thing though & you can hear everything, especially if you have one of the front desk area rooms.

Hotel very difficult to find. It took me 20 minutes. I found somebody on the street nearby who called the hotel for me and directed me to where it was. I found the address. There was a sign about 5 storeys above street level. I had to ring the bell at the main door for the 5th floor. There was a tatty piece of paper about 1cm x 3cm long on the doorbell panel saying Hotel Numancia on the door bell pad. This was the only indication of the Hotel at street level. The street was narrow with tall tenement buildings each side. I got into the lift and pressed 5 for the floor I had been told. I exited the lift. There was no indication where the hotel was. I entered through a large dark oak door and there was a man behind a desk. He only spoke Spanish. He looked through a small sheaf of random papers and couldn’t find my reservation. This took 10 minutes. Bear in mind I’d walked around Madrid all day and was very very tired. I grabbed the sheets off him and went through them myself. I found my name below a tatty piece of paper stapled onto a sheet with my details. The paper had a handwritten note saying I was now to go to the Hotel San Blas. He telephoned the other hotel and I spoke to somebody who eventually understood that I would walk there. The other hotel was about 800m away; remember I was very tired and needed a shower as it had been 35degrees all day!! I eventually found the other hotel and pressed the buzzer and was told, very rudely that they were full! I slept on a bench!!!

Since I don't speak Spanish, i have the problem with the communication

Staff were very unhelpful and unpleasant. Tried to charge me even though I had pre-paid. Since they spoke no English and not a lot of Spanish it took a while for us to work it out. Rooms are very, very small but fairly clean. Location is ok, close to metro.

We stayed for a single night, and managed to squeeze in a terrible check-in aided by a cleaner who spoke no English (not her fault), having been initially met by a receptionist who did speak English, a shower surrounded by previous customers' hair, a disturbed night's sleep due to constant noise, and a request we pay cash 'as it would help'. Avoid.

Gave me a single room even after I booked a double room. Took extra money by fighting late at night. Never stay here
