Absolutely stunning hotel. You can really experience true Japan atmosphere in hotel Chinzan-so. Beautiful interiors (it is used for many formal events, mostly weddings). Amazing garden where you’re immersed in rich Japan history. Tokyo clouds and moon shows are marvelous. Plus they have an in onsen (hot springs).
We’re definitely going to spend more time here again when we’re in Tokyo next time

We enjoyed our stay at the garden-view room very much.
The room on the 10th floor had a fantastic view and seemed to be newly renovated. It was spacious and very comfortable.
The service was top-notched. All staff was professional and polite.
And the garden was trully a delight.
Other than the relatively remote location, it was hard to find fault with anything.
We would gladly return as well as recommend to other travellers looking for a wonderfully relaxing experience.

The garden and surrounding area is so beautiful and quiet comparing to the busy Tokyo street. Room is roomy.

Rooms are nice and large.
Good service, though housekeeping was sloppy.
Breakfast was disappointing. Cafe too. Pricey and not tasty.
Location is far away from anything, meaning that every outing includes additional hour or so on public transportation (or half hour in a taxi).
We were surprised, even upset, to learn that we need to pay additional $30 per person per day to enter the pool. This is the first time I’m asked to pay extra to enter a hotel pool in which I’m a fully paid guest.

We liked the traditional Japanese feel and the cleanliness of the hotel. We did not like the prices for all the food. We literally ate at two Michelin star places that were less expensive and much better. The breakfast is expensive and mediocre at best. We ended up going to Ginza most days and having Breakfast at the Bulgari or Park Hyatt in Roppongi Hills. Better and cheaper. The location was also another problem. Just too far from everything. We ate at the Stone Restaurant one night and could not believe how much it was for average food. Also, they charge extra to use the pool. Will definitely being staying elsewhere when we go back for our 5th trip.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel with my two kids. Staff was wonderful - very polite and helpful, they anticipated our every need and seemed genuinely happy to help. The garden is stunning, and we spent a lot of time enjoying it - going for walks, the mist clouds are very cool, and the garden is lit during the night hours, so you can enjoy it the entire time it’s open until 11 pm. There aren’t a lot of things to do around the hotel, but I enjoyed it being tucked away from the busier parts of Tokyo. The spa is great, we spent a few days enjoying the pool, steam rooms, as well as outdoor and indoor hot springs. If I had to nitpick, the interior is a bit dated, but the hotel is very clean and well maintained.

Nice hotel, beautiful gardens and good facilities such as baths. But hotel looked a little dated in places and the restaurant & bar were pricey compared to other 5* hotels in Tokyo.
