Rooms are outdated and need renovation.
Cleaning was done very late (early evening) and one day not even done.
Sinks are yellow due to long use. Airco was leaking (above the pillow of the bed) and spiders web was not removed for a long time.

The room service is terrible, the house keeping never cleaned the room properly, dust, dirty floors, toilet have to be cleaned by us , no silverware in the rooms , a lot to improve.

The property itself is nice but there are a few problems but that's not what I want to leave this review for. This review& the low star rating is for an experience that I had with one of the workers, her name begins with K. SHE WORKS PREDOMINANTLY WITH THE PILOTS AND Attendants. She is fair complexioned,on the chubby side& wears glasses. The young lady was helping me when one of the pilots walked up she told me that I will be with you in a second and began to assist him & I said well how can you help him when you're not finished helping me. She responded that she needed to assist him. I posed the question again. This young lady looked me square in my face & instead of explaining to me her sole responsibility, she basically told me that this white pilot is her priority& continued assisting him. I was offended. to make a long story short.I told her about herself & her lack of professionalism. I also spoke to the manager who the day we were leaving seemed to be chummy ,chummy w/the young lady so I don't think any type of action was taken. Whoever is reading this you need to RETRAIN some of the people that work there. Also, there needs to be training for all of the housekeepers that clean the rooms. There needs to be a uniform way of doing things. I'm of the persuasion that if I am spending my money I expect a certain level of service which was lacking. Papayago, please take a page out of the book of the Marriott in Grand Cayman Just came back & service was ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars!

Property is really nice but staff are entitled and rude. Lobby staff are not welcoming and people that work at the restaurants for breakfasts are rude, or at least the hosts. Curacao is an amazing place and I was super excited to go to Papagayo but it’s just an ok place.

I had an amazing vacation at the resort with great service by the staff. Rougeska, Geinara and Rardely were over the top with helping me during my stay. Excellent room and a great Ocean view. I will be back!!

I was very happy with my stay.

Says in description that there is airport shuttle service, there is none. I had to complain about noisy neighbours 4 times and nothing changed. We were supposed to check in at 3pm but our room apparently wasn't ready although we were waiting in the lobby for a few hours already. I was expecting a peaceful quiet stay here and I personally didnt get that. Drunk neighbours would yell and bang on doors up until 3 am. Very upset with my stay here.

The rooms and baths are spacious and plenty of food options. Pools was beautiful and chairs located conveniently close to dining.

I really enjoyed the property!

Rooms are ok, tv blocking the view from the bed. Speaking of the bed, the linens don't fit the bed, mattress uncomfortable. The noise morning and night, loud really loud, doors could use weather striping. The offer towels yet they were out every single we went for clean ones. The food and service was lower average. Better places on the island, especially since this one is out of the way and the traffic heading this way was the worse on the island.

The hotel was amazing! There was a ton of food options and there overall hotel was clean and very aesthetically pleasing. I have no complaints on the hotel and overall trip was great!

Poor service, housekeeping was extremely lazy. Food on the resort was below average and made us sick several times. Inconvenient geographical location on the island and extremely overpriced for what you receive in return. Would not stay here again or recommend to others

Horrible experience if you want you vacation ruined pick this place. It was a disaster from the very beginning, I was traveling with guest. We arrived at different time… her flight was arriving before mine. Well they forgot about her. Because an untrained staff member for got to put it in?? Yes a total mess. Wait I’m not finished. When we finally checked in. Our room had roaches!!!!!! What a nightmare. The shower was dirty and not cleaned at all sheets had holes in it!!!! At this point the trust with cleanliness is broken. We finally got moved to another room.which was not ocean view!!!!! Not to mention I paid extra for ocean view!!! This door didn’t close properly, So basically anyone could have walked in our room!!! At this point my money was waisted because this had to be a dream, nope most definitely reality. We finally got moved to another room, after one of the staff members tried to fix the issue, it’s was too far gone down hill,Some of the staff was rude and we didn’t get treated like some of the other guess did we felt singled out because of our race, yes!!! The darker. You are they treat you like Trash, racially profiling is not acceptable ever!!! I’ve never been treated as such!!! Our birthday trip is ruined, we never felt welcome this property will charge you for everything, the staff need more training. Because the communication between all member need to be better, I will never ever return to this property ever!!! Run don’t book with this property! Terrible

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The staff are professional and friendly and did there best to make our stay was enjoyable, room size nice. The only con is there is only one restaurant for all-inclusive with a limited menu. Food was prepared perfectly with good quality with exception of the burger. Drinks at the bar were very good. Great breakfast! Was disappointed that the beach was mostly rocks. The private beach area was nice. I did check out and left person item in the room, emailed, but no response.

My daughter and I just returned from a week at Papagayo to celebrate her 30th birthday. We enjoyed our stay. We upgraded from ocean-view to oceanfront and loved sitting on the balcony with that view. Restaurants on & near the property were decent & pricier than Mexico and Costa Rica. Rented a car upstairs at the hotel. Very affordable & easy option. The hotel property was nice if you just want to relax & not leave, but we were in search of better beach options. Grote Knip was well worth the hour drive & beautiful! Jan Thiel is right next door and it was fair, but very crowded. Hotel was well kept, staff was friendly, would definitely go back. We loved that there was a supermarket next door!

1st I have to say the staff at the front desk are GREAT! No complaints with them at all.
This could be a 5-star hotel but there are a lot of defects that need to be managed.
In our room you could see they did not clean the floors well. We just got in and stuff would stick to my feet and you can see dust bunnies of hair etc. floating around. There were items removed from the walls and the holes were not fixed professionally. Marks on the wall (easily to reach to wipe off), and the most annoying was the vent in the bathroom ceiling that kept dripping on me while I was getting cleaned up. The bathroom sink had iron built-up (it is hard to see in the picture). There was trash in the hallway that was there the entire time we were there.
Due to inconsiderate people it is noisy! People going in and out of their rooms would allow the door to slam which is very loud. If you are sleeping this will wake you up.
There is no ice machine in the building; we had to keep going up to the front desk to get ice.
The TV had to be fixed, somehow, we were only getting 3 channels. And a very annoying popup kept popping up the entire time we watched anything. We could not get this to turn off.
There is no luggage cart so be prepared to haul your luggage through square stoned walkways that beat you to pieces as you pull your stuff to the room. If you have a large suite case you will get a work out.
The buildings do not have elevators either so you have to pull your stuff up some stairs.

This hotel is a complex mixture of excellent physical facilities and failures in service that don't meet reasonable expectations for a property that positions itself as a 4-star hotel. Therefore, I'll divide my review separately into two areas.
The room I had met the high expectations of the description, with a full ocean view, a nice balcony, good interior space, a comfortable bed, good shower with plenty of hot water.
Issues with the service start at check-in. One is not informed that with different levels of deposit $100/$500 (with a pre-paid room) come different levels of service for incidentals, such as laundry - with the lower deposit, the laundry is not picked up or delivered to the room, but has to be notiated at the front desk, and paid separately. Surprisingly, the higher deposit cannot be arranged for _after_ check-in, as to simplify transactions during one's stay.
More annoying, at check-in I was informed that for the duration of my week's stay the cost of a buffet breakfast at their beach club facility would be $21/day. And that was what I was charged for the first 3 days of my stay, when on the 4th day I was greeted at breakfast with the message "We've raised our prices, now you have to pay $26/day." It was only after I expressed my strong displeasure at the "bait and switch" that they honored the original price quote, but this left a bad taste in my mouth.
Hence, overall a mixed experience.

Room was outdated, not allways towels available, noisy ventilators in bath room. Tip; do not book halfboard since plenty of better breakfast and lunch diner options nearby.

They served fresh drinks and you get a free gift bag upon check in. The staff was super friendly and overall peaceful. This is my second time coming here since I was 10 and I made this my choice of stay when visiting here as a birthday/graduation trip. I needed a mental break and I felt so at home the days I stayed here.

It was beautiful when we arrived the hotel lobby It is gorgeous! I wish they used the lobby for a piano bar or some sort of entertainment. It has big open marble floors for dancing. The Christmas decorations were beautiful too. Rougenlea greeted us and checked us in. She was very prompt and even walked us to our room to make sure everything was in perfect order. Thank you Suky, Mardely, the other lady pictured and the tall guy, I forgot his name. They all including housekeeping were outstanding. We will be back.

This is a slick, modern newer resort hotel with open concept rooms and patios and balconies (lanais).
The materials and fixtures are upscale. The layout is well designed. The restaurants and bars are good
and convenient. The staff are infectiously pleasant. The adjacent Jan Thiel beach, with restaurants and
snorkeling cove and beach tennis were enjoyable. Two features stand out. The on-site grocery store Van
Der Tweel with on-site bakery, beer and wine, ready-made salads and yogurt and other snacks was very
convenient. The on-site dive shop FunDiving was also a plus. I was ready to rate Papagayo as 4.5 stars.
But the shower is all marble. No saftey handles, and wide enough that most people would not be able to
put a hand on either opposing wall. Just a little soapy water under foot and you'll think you're on
wet ice wearing leather soled shoes. Anyone with mobility concerns or balance issues should be warned.
Then there was the sewer-geyser. Yep, a four inch diameter pipe at the edge of my patio, just ten feet
from the sliding door to the room which spewed raw sewage including toilet paper into a cascading
fetid water fall. Upon seeing this for the first time I walked to the front desk to report it. The
staff appeared stunned in disbelief. They said they would send maintenance staff to my room to
investigate. Nobody showed. This was Thursday evening at sunset (7:10 PM). On Friday evening at about
the same time, the sewer-geyser erupted again. Again, nobody sho

I paid for an ocean front room, and asked for the room to be decorated upon arrival as a surprise. This was not done and the ac in our room was not working. For two days they made us stay in that room while the maintenance guy tried to resolve this, and we ended up having to sleep in a garden view the first night and transfer from our room to a smaller room at 1am the second night. No compensation was given for this.

Area and property are nice. The ((a young Dutch & older local lady) check in staff was not doing an effort to make the guest have a warm happy checkin experience. We arrived at 12.00 and arrived after a long travel, craving for our room… but they told us straight that room wouldn’t be ready till 3.00 or 4.00 pm. That is not what you like to hear and I didn’t have a poor unwelcome check in experience in years. Room has a leaking sink (causing a flooded bathroom) and the shower was boiling hot.. but technical service fixed this within an hour. We love the balcony and the space of the room
