Very good quiet comfort and friendly people

The property is clean and quiet and has a nice sitting area over the lobby for relaxing. There is also a coffee shop in the lobby serving custom morning beverages and snacks including breakfast burritos.
4.3
It was very unique art filled little hotel at the main square. Very comfortable. Had everything we needed for one night stay. The only thing we didn’t like is that the gentleman at the reception wanted us to park with them (for a fee) when parking was free in town for the month of October (we found out later).
4.3
La Fonda hotel is in middle of town of course it’s noisy and it’s an old hotel so they don’t have jacuzzi and swimming pool. But that’s okay for single nights rest.
4.3
Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Good food at the restaurant.

I've always wanted to stay at La Fonda. The location is perfect, and the hotel is historic and quaint. The only thing I have to complain about is the air conditioner. When we first walked into the room it smelled musty. I thought because it was old. But very soon we realized that the dated AC unit was leaking. We notified the front desk and it still was never fixed after the second day. Since we stayed over a holiday weekend, they were booked solid so we couldn't get another room. Very disappointed!
4.3
The mattresses are terrible. The noise level is very high. There was a party next-door . The front desk person named Omar was really condescending. He didn’t do anything to try to help the situation situation. There were cops all over this place shining lights and they have a parking fee of $10 which is not disclosed in the booking
4.3
It was an old and historical hotel that is the epitome of the Southwest.

Very nice hotel and enjoyed my stay
4.3
A great hotel.

Just a comfy place to get away for the night. Only issue was a huge bed bug or roach on my bed. Tried to kill it but sucker was too quick and took off under the mattress. But my room was cozy aside the bug.
4.3
unique place and location

Delightful and charming hotel. Room was cozy and clean but might be close to newding updating. Bed was very comfortable! Location can’t be beat.
4.3
Fabulous ambiance. Hotel restaurant was excellent.
4.3
Amazing location and very comfortable room!
4.3
Love historical buildings
4.3
Quaint, quiet, nothing fancy but quintessential Taos and the only hotel on the historic plaza. Great lobby coffee shop and you can walk to everything. She has great character and charm.

Loved it!
4.3
Wonderful Hotel to stay. The hotel was the center of all activities.

Hotel La Fonda is a venerable historic destination that deserves better care. The room was cluttered and lacked comfort, there was a large dorm size fridge plopped on a table that rattled through the night, and the walls were so thin I could here people coughing and snoring in both rooms adjacent to mine. Worst of all it lacked style, was as tacky as a five and dime and didn’t reflect the charm or detail of other New Mexican hotels. In need of a complete overhaul and not worthy of a 4 star rating.
4.3
Liked the charm and location. Bed was very comfy.
Disliked that very few restaurants were open. AC unit was a little difficult to turn down.

This was a very interesting hotel! There are so many little personal touches. I did not like all the steps, however. Our room was at the bottom of a 4 step walk down. I wear a fitted knee brace and use a walker all the time, so it was a bit challenging for me. The bathroom at this hotel also had a little step-up to get into the bathroom. We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and it was very comfortable when we couldn’t hear talking or loud music through the walls. Our room was on the 2nd floor and we faced the hotel’s parking lot. We’ve been to Taos before, so we basically knew what the ambiance of the Plaza would be! It was really “hopping” on the Friday night of our stay. Lots of vendors and music going on in the Plaza. But on Saturday, many of the shops were closed. The owner of the restaurant where we ate told us that many of the businesses have closed or are on limited hours because of the effects of COVID. It’s sad because it’s not what we remembered from many years ago (sometime in the 90s). The shops that were open need refurbishment pretty badly, and the little alleys between buildings is really run down. But all of this didn’t stop us from having an enjoyable stay!

So I like to say that this is a very very bias opinion about Taos New Mexico. Since i live here before. Everything was fantastic. Here from the shopping to the food. But the thing a bout Taos are the people who live and work. Deep love and respect for Taos New Mexico
4.3
Great place to stay, however, if your room is on the third level, you have to carry all of your luggage up several stairs. They are nice rooms and our overlooked the plaza which made it worth it!

Loved it!

Location was great, and it is an historical property. No explanation about the hotel and its amenities were given when checking in, other than a walking map
Mattresses could be updated and AC was barely adequate, making sitting area almost intolerable
The one light in bathroom kept dimming.
A place to visit once, but won’t be a repeat customer
4.3
Nice location.friendly staff. Comfortable bed.
Needs new windows as they don’t close properly and frame is rotting.
4.3
The hotel is very old. The walls in the room had fresh water damage and created a very large area of water damage in the roof area. This caused the room to smell of water damage. Also, the sink in the bathroom would not drain. Lastly, the water pressue in the shower was very low and did not always have hot water.

Lovely, historic property. So much atmosphere.
4.3
The air conditioner struggled to keep the room cool at night.
4.3
It was very clean and the staff was very nice. However, the property does need some updating in the rooms.
4.3
So quiet - we got a great night sleep. The room was clean and well appointed. Great location in the plaza.
4.3
Parking lot stones, not paved.
4.3

4.3
Bedwas comfortable and hotel was quiet.
4.3
We loved the location on the plaza and in the heart of things in Taos. The gentlemen who checked us in and checked us out were very friendly and welcoming.
4.3
An older property, but location, location, location. On the plaza, close to restaurants, shops, historical sites.
