This beautiful, comfortable Hotel is in the heart of Saxmundham, moments from the station. The Helpful Staff, Callum, was wonderful. Everything was clean and comfortable. I would stay again.

Our stay was wonderful and we will be going back. Our room was well designed and very comfortable, excellent bed, we slept very well. The staff were outstanding and always wanting to help. The food was excellent, obviously a talented chef.

The staff at the Bell were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and it had all the amenities I needed. I especially appreciated the fact that it was possible to block out all light with the window shades. We ate at the restaurant for dinner and that was excellent.

We booked this as a last minute trip, and The Bell was a fantastic choice! Fabulous welcome and service by Matthew and the team. We shall be back.

Really nice hotel. Comfy rooms, friendly staff, great food and drink. Their car park was full so they even paid parking at another car park.

Great little hotel. Really friendly staff good bar and very good food. Breakfast was particularly good but 8am start for breakfast not ideal for business travel.
Basic room was really comfortable. Again, not ideal for business travellers as there’s no desk. Minor quibbles wouldn’t stop me staying there again (& I have)

The rooms and interior was very good and the staff were excellent. The only problem I had was the hotel is on the Main Street and the parking area is not at the hotel. There is a parking area for the hotel, but not on the premises of the hotel.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful, courteous or obliging. The room was very comfortable, we slept well and the breakfast, lunch and dinner couldn't have been better. If we are in this part of the country again we will certainly stay in this hotel.

Great place and superb staff. Has been thoroughly renovated since my last visit a couple of years ago and is much improved. Will be my new go to for this area. Car parking is available round the corner. Just ask staff for directions.

A delightful and recently refurbished hotel with lots of character, very friendly staff and a great range of high quality food / drink available - very highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay at the Bell Hotel. We did find the portions for dinner and breakfast a bit small and a bit stingy where it shouldn't have cost much to be generous - too few toasts with the pate or the cheese course (5 crackers). A bit more generosity and it would have been a perfect stay

Fabulous location for easy drive to Suffolk coast
Would definitely stay there again

Unworthy of 4 star rating or current room rate. More like a third rate B&B than 4 star hotel.Entrance lobby and reception were shabby, cluttered and smelled of cigarette smoke. Carpets dirty and worn. Our rooms were badly decorated , dated, shabby and full of old, mis matched cheap furniture . Bathroom looked like it had been tiled by a child . Grout around toilet and bath was stained and unfinished. No handrails but broken towel rail had obviously been used as a grab rail for sometime. Bathroom door didn’t close. One of our rooms had steps in and out of bathroom but no handrails . Sloped roof meant there was limited headroom over the bed .Food was good but dining room had poor lighting/ no bulbs. Tables shabby, sticky . General lack of ambience . Bar was cluttered with old fashioned leather seats and it was noisy- not a comfortable space. One of the worst places I have stayed in . The only saving grace of the Bell at Sax was the young and pleasant staff who tried their best to help guests.

Very expensive for the type of property. Seemed short staffed, as most hospitality places are currently. Staff were good. Breakfast very good.
Biggest issue was the lack of sound proofing, meant we could hear upstairs guests walking and multiple TVs . Still keeping to the "traditional" throwaway hotel culture.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and food delicious.
The windows are single glazed and road noise audible. Overall the hotel feels tired but the staff and food made it a pleasant stay.

Overall an excellent stay. Rooms very clean and spacious. Bathroom could do with tiling smartening up but minor detail. Shower worked well.
Food was excellent and plenty of it with friendly staff at all times. Good value for money.

Nice old school hotel, large room, fantastic food, no on site parking but car park just a couple of minutes away, £4 for 24hours.

Our stay was wonderful. The Hotel is a lovely old grand building and the room reflected that in its size and the wonderful antique furniture everywhere.
There was a large soft kingsize bed with a choice of pillows and blackout blinds for a good night's sleep. The bathroom was huge and light and clean and the shower hot and working well. No annoying shower curtains :-)
There was a kettle and a choice of tea/coffee supplies and staff happily got me a little more decaff when we used up the supplies :-)
We ate in the restaurant on one night of our stay and altough I certainly wasn't an easy guest to accommodate (trying to eat carb-free) they were happy to do a bun-free wagu burger and substituted the chips and coleslaw with a lovely mixed salad with tasty rocket and avocado bits.
Breakfast is worth a special mention. We had salmon omelette and scrambled egg with smoked salmon on muffins, fruit salad and greek yoghurt and toast and jam. We saw the full English being served and it looked very tasty too. Due to the pandemic you have to pre-order the fruit, toast and side bits rather than having a buffet but it's absolutely fantastic and fresh and tasty.
We will definitely go to the area again for a few days by the sea and there's no reason to look for another place to stay.

I stayed with a business colleague at the Bell for one night while working at Sizewell Power Station for a couple of days.
Parking is in the market place and cost us a pound cash for each car. The hotel staff were great when we arrived and the room was fine for me (my colleague was in a twin room). We had a wander round the town and out into the country before a good wholesome evening meal.
We needed an early (0730hrs) breakfast so we ended-up with a yogurt, bacon sandwiches, juice and a takeaway tea. All okay but would have preferred a fry-up.
Would I say again? Yes.

The hotel was fine, I had a double room (8) which was a nice large room. In general it was clean and tidy, although there were two toothpaste marks in bathroom where previous occupants had stood their brushes, a small thing.. Nice shower, not that powerful but sufficient.. The breakfast was great and COVID arrangements well done. Really friendly staff. I’d definitely stay again.. Parking is a small problem as there’s not lots of options.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely light room but very warm so needed the windows open and lots of traffic going passed very early in the morning. Would return though as the hotel was good and the breakfast exceptional.

Good large room with a fan which was very good and a surprise. We did have to ask for toilet roll as there wasn’t any when we entered the room but this was quickly sorted.Evening meal was lovely as was the breakfast
