A real hidden jem in a small village with lots of facilities. Opposite the Castle and duck pond. Not far to lots of tourist hotspots and when you get back plenty of free parking.
Its an old building with creaking floorboards but that odds to the charm.

Limited breakfast choices, but what was offered was fine. Three cats which was a bonus for me.

The property is very old, which makes it very quircky, which we loved. The views from the front bedroom are to die for overlooking the ruined castle and duck pond. The road is busy early morning and late afternoon, but that is to be expected and wasn't a problem. There are 2 pubs less than 2 minutes away for evening meals and it is very central to get around to various attractions. Debbie the lady who owns the property is lovely and very accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. There is lots to offer for breakfast, we enjoyed the breakfast baps, very different. We enjoyed out 4 night stay and would definately go back again, so hence our recommendation that this is a great place to stay.

It is wonderful to have the opportunity to stay in accommodation with so much history and with such a welcoming hostess, who did all she could to ensure a comfortable and happy stay - thank you Debbie!

Lovely place to stay, hostess very accommodating. Building very historic. Car park at the side. Whittington Castle opposite and two pubs only a stone's throw away.

Beautiful setting opposite the castle and duck pond. The owner was really friendly and couldn’t do enough for me. Unfortunately I’m a very light sleeper and it’s next to a busy main road, so I didn’t sleep well. I only noticed the ear plugs provided the next day. If you sleep well I would 100% recommended. There are local pubs in walking distance, fish and chip shop, plus a local store.

Clean & quiet in small village. Landlady friendly. It is an old property so floors creak in rooms & on landing but fine otherwise. On main road but ear plugs provided too. Will definitely stsy again. Whittington Castle right over the road also.

The owner was nice. BUT no wifi, squeaky bed and just cheap breakfast for £75 a night is too expensive.

Rooms a little dated, but comfortable and served the purpose. Shower cramped, a larger person would struggle to manoeuvre.
Hoste very pleasant and helpful.

A warm welcome, the owner well explained the facilities and helped with local food eateries. She was right on. Thank you. The rooms were well taken care of and clean with loads of tea, coffee and hot chocolate available. After a day on the motorcycle, it was pleasing to find a warm shower. Situated across from the castle it was a nice view. Traffic started at 5 which was fine fir me and they provided ear plugs for those who wanted a late start. As an asthmatic my lungs told me that old moisture in low heating environment were rebelling just s bit almost not worth mentioning but yes still there. The breakfast was more than full English. Filled beyond my needs with lovely filter coffee

The b&b was in a sweet little village just outside Oswestry and was easy to locate. There was parking right by the property and we were welcomed by the owner. Our room was a good size, lovely bathroom with a bath and shower and a good hospitality tray. The floorboards creaked and the stairs were a little steep but we were in an old property with character. The bed was very comfortable but there was a little noise from a fan or boiler for a short while sometime in the night. The breakfast was delicious with a gorgeous fruit salad & yogurt ,cereal fruit juice and full English with plenty of toast and hot drinks.

Old property with character. Room was lovely and clean. Bathroom looked new. Nice breakfast. Nice to be asked what time we would like breakfast instead of being told. Very pleasant experience.

Boarded in a very large comfortable and spotless room after being greeted by a friendly landlady. A front of house room with a great view of the lake & Wittingham (of Dick fame?) but with a reasonable amount of traffic passing but stay was not disturbed by that traffic. Cannot comment on food as down for an early morning operation at local hospital and therefore breakfast allowed. Would quite happily stay again.

Very pleasant B&B with plenty of character and in pretty surroundings. Good breakfast.
Slight downside, very close to busy road with inevitable traffic noise. Also floorboards very creaky, difficult to move around without waking people!

Debbie, the owner, was friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The guest house is quite an old building and at breakfast time we found ourselves at a table situated in what must have once been an inglenook fireplace. There are little nooks and crannies dotted around the place ;it was full of character.
Our room was pleasant and the king sized bed was very comfortable. the rest of the furniture in the room was a little old fashioned, but as Debbie said "the house is old and modern things wouldn't look right here". I agree with her.
If you decide to stay at FW house, do slip across the road to look at the castle ,it is directly opposite. Its free and worth a look round. Our bedroom overlooked the castle and we watched ducks and swans swimming on the moat.
We enjoyed our overnight stay followed by an excellent breakfast.

We stopped off overnight in this lovely little village at this hotel. It is opposite a castle and in walking distance to two pubs that serve excellent food. The owner was very welcoming and helpful and made our short stay very comfortable.
