Office was closed before 7:30 pm and was supposed to be staffed until 10pm. Key was left on a clipboard by the office door! Simple door lock with no deadbolt. Adjoining room door unlocked and neighbors kept jiggling the doorknob all night. Worst of all NO HOT WATER in shower. Of course no one to complain to, since the office was again unstaffed at checkout time! Never going back, never recommending to anyone. Also, nothing mentioned that guests must also pay a park fee of $8.00 in order to park at facility. But, no one ever checked to see if we paid it anyways.

A mixed experience.
Bad points: Photos of lodge in listing are highly deceptive. The rooms appear to be part of a large lodge. In actuality, the rooms are in multi-unit cabins (not mentioned in listing). I have no clue where the photos of the lodge were taken. We saw no sign of that during our stay. The pool was closed and filthy. We were told that the pool would open for Memorial Day, a few days away, which did us no good. (The inside room photos are accurate.) The restaurant mentioned in amenities is only open during certain hours and on certain days. While the office offered snacks and breakfast items for sale, and offered coffee, we had to travel to obtain a real meal. At bedtime, loud motorcycles were racing up and down the road, and someone was setting off fireworks. (Things eventually quieted down.)
Good Points: The young office woman was very friendly and very helpful. As a cabin, the stay was nice enough. It is near trees, walking trails, and has a view of the dam-site reservoir. Bikes rentals available. Pic-nick tables, trees, fire rings and outdoor seating near room was very nice. The office sold us wood, but was sold out of fire-starting gel, so cardboard, newspaper, and matches were provided. We enjoyed a nice fire while listening to birds and watching sailboats on the water as the sun went down. The cabin was cozy and nice. Hot water in the morning. Would stay again. But, please, remove (or clarify) photos of lodge. Stay was not what we expected.

Sitting outside by a fire.

Great State Park accommodations

The resort is in a beautiful location along the Missouri River. The walking trails around the resort are well groomed and maintained. The room however, was a bit of a disappointment. The toilet in the room kept running even after flushing was complete. My husband notified the staff and nothing was done to correct it. The room is cramped with no real place to put luggage. Also, there were no condiments (sugar/creamer/stir sticks) to aid in making coffee.

Would recommend to anyone. Great place, quiet and felt like home.

Beats a hotel any day. Beautiful views!

I booked a room with accessibility, but didn't get accessibility for our wheel chair. Couldn't shower

The people that run this place are awesome. I messed up my reservation and they were kind and accommodated my family in the absolute best way. The cabins are perfect for my family and dogs. Don't expect a 5 star Hilton, and you will be happy; you actually get more than you pay for. The lake is great.
4.3
Nice place on lake.
Accommodation are good.

Having to register and pay for a park pass when checking in late was very inconvenient, and should have been mentioned in the reservation. I had to try to hold my phone's flashlight in order to fill out a form in the dark as well as come up with the $8.00 payment required in order to to park my vehicle in front of my cabin was very frustrating.

I was in SD on business and stayed here for a couple of nights. What a great change from a hotel. Place was well kept, quiet and comfortable and beautiful scenery. I will stay here every trip to SD from here on out.

Absolutely beautiful in the Fall.
4.3
Room was ok nothing extravagant for the price expected more
4.3
Room was spacious and clean. Pool and area was well kept.

The surrounding scenery was beautiful, however, the room was tiny, with no amenities. We requested queen bed, got a double. The floors were dirty along with a dirty, outdated couch. No coffee in the office until 8. Coffee maker in the room had no creamer, no sugar. The small “office “ was like a bait shop you see along a country road. Overall, very disappointing.

Nice area for walking, biking and fishing. Rooms are clean.

The first room they gave us had a terrible odor, we asked to be moved and they did but the TV didn't work. We wanted to use the laundry but it was outdoors and not up and running yet, we wanted to use the pool but they don't fill it until after memorial day and we wanted some ice and it wasn't working and then a bird flew out of it

I stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve and found the cabin to be comfortable. It was good to have a full kitchen available, and the surrounding area is safe and accessible. It was of course cold outside in December, but walking my dog along the lakefront and around the resort was enjoyable all week.

Due to a blizzard, we called a few times prior to our stay to make sure we would be able to check in. No one answered our calls, so we had to pay for a different hotel to stay in as we did not want to risk driving there late at night in the bad conditions since we did not receive correspondence. The next day, the office called and informed us they had left early due to weather conditions, meaning that they wouldn't have been there to check us in even if we had made it to the destination. The person on the phone was very nice and responsive; they said they would ask their boss to see if we could receive a refund. We have yet to hear back; we understand there's typically no refunds but considering there was no one there to check in/answer our calls to rearrange times we hope this could be reconsidered.

Very simple process...quiet, comfortable and clean.

Good price…no frills, but comfortable.

Great place to stay, close to paddlefishing!

First time stay at resort. We have stayed at many of the camping areas in the past. But our weekend trip to the resort was absolutely beautiful. Wish there was a fire pit near 102. But the view was amazing. So much easier to just pack a bag and go. Instead of packing a camper. We will return soon.

Enjoyed our time. Very relaxing
4.3
The lake was awesome
4.3
the room was just a bit small and Expedia made it seem it had a kitchenette, but it did not. Not the resort's fault

Check in was a breeze. The Staff was efficient and friendly. The people we interacted with here are generally pleasant to be around. I am very pleased with this stay as opposed to others on our trip, and the lodging was clean. I'm glad to be back west after an extended stay in the east.

Stayed here for 2 nights but could have stayed longer. Nice cabin, great for family to gather and visit. Loved the lake and walking trail, would have tried the bikes if we had more time. Definitely recommend!!
