Really lovely ryokan and onsen with beautiful ocean views. The futons were very comfortable, as well. It's a little outside of Wakayama city (about 30 minutes/¥3500 by taxi), but there is a nearby bus and they have a parking area if you are driving. The staff speaks a little English, but don't expect the same level of English that you might get at a larger, urban hotel. Overall, it was very relaxing and I would definitely recommend it.

Very nice staff and great rooms and views

This place was so great I wished I could have stayed longer. The only warning I have is that it is on a mountainside so you will need to bring food with you or take buses/taxis for your lunch and dinner.

We stayed for two nights and everything was perfect. The room was clean, and the wood decor was perfect. Dinner and breakfast for both days were different, it was both very nice food!!

Wonderful baths, beautiful views, delicious Japanese food, exceptionally warm and helpful staff. Truly a wonderful get away. The chef graciously accommodated our vegetarian diet. Staff made sure all our needs were met and helped facilitate transportation for a day trip to Nachi Falls. Amenities were thoughtful. Grounds were under some renovation during our visit, but it was peaceful and very enjoyable. Wakayama station was a convenient hub for coming and going.

Staff were friendly but not informative. They didn’t inform us about the amenities to use for the onsen. Onsen too cramp and products offer are limited. No socks provided in the room too. We booked half board but was told it’s room only. The hot water takes 5 mins to come out. View is beautiful

Choose one of the three new suites in the annex and you’ll be enjoying a high-end Spa hotel... big rooms with comfy beds, European style shower-room, sun-deck with private hot-tub and great sunset views over the harbour, also enjoyed by the traditional Onsen baths.Evening dinner is pricey but an investment in top quality Japanese Kaiseki - a tasting menu of the best local fish and traditional cuisine. Make sure you book the night before, as there are very few alternatives in the immediate vicinity. There isn’t a lot to do locally but the hotel offers a free shuttle-bus to and from Wakayama centre.Mostly though, you’ll enjoy relaxing on the sun deck watching the fishing boats come and go with their daily catch.

The photos make the hotel look better than it is. It’s tired and too out the way. However, staff were helpful and found us a nice local Japanese restaurant

Very traditional. Could use some TLC in the rooms. Bathhouse lovely. Staff very nice. Traditional breakfast only, but lovely.

- most of the staff was very helpful, especially helping us to make reservation to other activities since we do not speak Japanese .
( except one male staff who refuse to make phone call to the strawberry farm to make reservation for us ).
- The view was excellent , the room was tidy and comfy
- the guest lounge was nice with free coffee and tea
- Very nice meal ( both dinner and breakfast )
