Kamikochi Imperial Hotel is a wonderful place to visit. The area is absolutely beautiful, and the hotel itself has tons of old world charm and has been very well maintained in its 91 years. The only reason I don’t give it five stars is because the dining options are so very overpriced, and the quality was just okay. We made the mistake of not bringing enough cash with us to dine elsewhere, since most places in the area are cash only. There are no ATMs in Kamikochi, so next time we will be more prepared. We will visit again!

I am writing to express my thankfulness for the hotel staff. I accidently left my passport behind. They delivered my passport to my hotel in Matsumoto after my checkout. I got my passport back and I could continue my trip well. I must writing to thank them again and again.
Also the hotel is nostalgic, caring staff, delicious food, good location close to Taisho lake and beautiful scenery. Kamikochi bus stops are right in front of the hotel. Amazing indeed.

Fantastic stay with impeccable service.
Prices of food in restaurants is much more expensive but expected of hotel of this category.
The clientele generally older Japanese but nonetheless we enjoyed our stay one night stay, which allowed us to enjoy Kamikochi at a more leisurely pace.

First of all, I am amazed with the service, people from the hotels are really friendly and helpful. Really a nice place to stay and overseeing the stunning view of mountain. It was my sisters birthday when we arrive on that day. We have spent a very nice time in this hotel. highly recommended.

Excellent Room and Services. It is 8 minute walk form Bus Terminal though. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, however, during peak period, the bus is normally full and you either have to wait for next bus or walk to bus terminal.

It’s so known, and yet the design of the hotel, no pretty garden, was a big disappointment.

This hotel is in a beautiful unique setting! The hiking there is spectacular. However, there is one major issue - outside of the hotel, there are very few options for eating and the restaurants at the hotel will break the bank! There are three restaurant options and even the casual one charges $30 for spaghetti. $8 for a cup of coffee! The more expensive restaurants will cost about $200 per person for dinner. There are a few small restaurants around the bus station but they do not serve dinner and options for other meals are very limited. Guests should be warned that this is the case and bring along food!

Historical property, dating back to 1933. Amenities were excellent - dinner (not included) can be a tad pricey, but overall a great experience.
