Great location right on the main highway. Hotel is tucked away far from the street so no road noise. The host was very friendly and the breakfast was great. Room was spacious and comfortable. We got the room that you could park your car by it so it was easy to get the bags in and out. Dining area had a nice setup and there was also a cozy living room area set up for TV and board games.

Cosy room and friendly staff, good food

What a precious little place with a wonderful view run by the most wonderful people. We felt very welcomed at the property. The breakfast was outstanding, we got freshly made scrambled eggs along with freshly baked breads.

Friendly staff. Very nice breakfast!

The hotel is ok. My room was large and clean. The breakfast offers scrambled eggs on demand, which is good.
But the hotel is pricey considering that their is no amenities.

We spent one night here during our visit to the South. Volcano Hotel is a really nice family run hotel, it’s in a very quiet location. Rooms are a decent size clean and comfortable. The owner are very nice and the food was really good!! Definitely would stay there again!

Nice property among the grassy fields.

First of all this place is in the middle of no where , which is a perfect setting for iceland (if you are into it). We had to drive six miles on a dirt road to get there after we picked up the keys. The kitchen area was clean and nice. We had forgotten to pick up any food, so we ate some cereal in the kitchen. There is nothing close by for about 50 km's for food, so be prepared to bring your own or cook there. The doors for the room would not lock , but its not a problem as it felt very safe.

Nice, small hotel located in a beautiful and quiet area outside of Vik.

My husband and I didn’t check in until past 10pm and although there weren’t any workers left, we were welcomed with a personalized hand written message giving us instructions about breakfast and check out.
The room was nicely clean and bedding was comfortably soft. The decoration throughout the hotel is volcano themed including the floor that was made from lava rocks.
The freshly made to order scrambled eggs for breakfast, the proximity to route 1 and the nice view makes this hotel a no brainer for our next trip to Iceland.

Small family business. Very pleasant surprise.

We had a spacious room which was very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast included was a nice perk but still a bit pricey.

We stayed for one night while visiting Vik and surrounding area. The hotel is in a great location, with views of the mountains and ocean, and just down the road from the Black Sand beach and Vik. Outside the property sheep are grazing. Inside is welcoming and modern. I liked having the books about Iceland to look at in the dining area. Breakfast was good. Definitely recommend!

Terrific family-run place with top-notch customer service. We especially appreciated the local recommendations.

This lodging doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside, it is modern and lovely. We had an ocean view room, which meant we could see a small part of the water across the landscape. Excellent breakfast, we did not make a dinner reservation in time but it smelled fabulous. Prime location to visit Dyrholeay and Reynsifara Beach.

Staff was nice and was willing to take the extra steps in heating our food and letting us eat in the dining area when we checked in late in the evening.

Fresh scrambled eggs for breakfast was nice. Quiet location away from crowds

A terrific place to stay near the Black Sand Beach and other local sites. It was very quiet, the room was large and very clean, and breakfast was great. The only downside was there was not a mini refrigerator in the room, but this is true of every hotel we stayed in outside of Reykjavik. Truly a wonderful stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We arrived early and they made room for our bags and got laundry started for us. Check in was easy. Very close to the black beach and door island. Dinner was tasty at the hotel. Very cozy.

Nice family owned business located in a scenic area right before you hit the home stretch going into Vik. The vibe is amazing and if you are looking to relax, this is your spot. Excellent service with a personal touch. Get the lamb for dinner there, it’s the owners recipe and was delightful. One of the best stays we had while traveling Iceland.

The girl overseeing everything during our two-night stay at the hotel is fantastic. She cooked the most delicious scrambled eggs every morning, helped with all our requests, and provided the best laundry services for us, on top of everything else she is responsible for. Her superb service was greatly appreciated and made our stay at the Volcano Hotel the most enjoyable.

Was a great stop over when driving from Reykjavik to Glacier Lagoon. Not far from Vik. Rooms were nice. Not a lot of rooms and desk person there to make eggs for breakfast if we wanted. Definitely recommend staying there.

We stayed 3 nights here and were pleasantly surprised how nice it was. Far enough outside of town that it was quiet but not an inconvenient drive to town. Plus close to many popular spots. Small, quiet place. Plus they made fresh eggs for each guest during breakfast.

Very basic but comfortable room. The dinner they offer of lamb and arctic char was absolutely delicious. Plan to have during your stay.

Lovely food and comfortable room. Hotel very convenient if travelling East round the ring road…
We tried to access Dyrholaey after dinner on the recommendation but the access closed at 7pm because of nesting. Sad to miss the puffins but had to leave before the access reopened.

Great property, cleaning lady a bit snippy when we stopped to either check in or drop our luggage until we could check in, we were early but it was all good…we enjoyed the room

The location is convenient and the view is great. However, the internet is slow. Water does not go down the sink quickly. The staff were not particularly friendly. Extra person charge is higher than most other hotels.
