Excellent place for a night stop in Cheltenham

The food in the diner is INCREDIBLE...the service at the front desk awesome. We even had an incident where the door locked in the bathroom and the night front desk came to change out the door handle! Excellent, dog-friendly, place ....note there is NO LIFT...our dog can't do stairs so we were carrying our dogs, our bags and ourselves up several flights of stairs

The bathroom infrastructure was in terrible shape. The shower was either cold or scalding hot. The shower control didn't work properly.

Great stay, our room was a great size with nice amenities. Loved the rainfall shower! Even though we were on the ground floor, right by reception, the street and hotel noise was minimal. The hotel even went to the effort of adding some balloons and a card to our room as we were staying for a celebration!

Good central location with stylish rooms, and a nice breakfast. Staff are very pleasant and helpful
It doesn’t have a lift as it’s a historic property so be prepared to carry your suitcase up some stairs

Hotel lovely shame they don’t have a bar

I do like The George and have stayed many times. The double rooms sadly have very little room to move around the bed eg if your feet are a size 7 or bigger you will struggle. The curtains needlessly bulky and long and trip to the bathroom involves firstly head butting the wall as you get up followed by tripping over the curtains. The TV although generously large for the room is in an alcove and partially blocked for viewing from the bed by wall and petruding mirror. Minor faults for a weary traveller arriving late but worth being careful about when in the room. The bed, bathroom and coffees are great and comfortable and breakfast is great.

Great stay. Great location. Stylish rooms. Hotel very accommodating with special touches as per request.

Room could have benefited from a fresh coat of paint, stains on walls. Lovely eainfall shower and very good breakfast.

Nice hotel. Small and neat reception but liked the room very much. Not so much space, but clean and stylish. Good service. Didnt try the breakfast cause of early departures.

Central location - good continental but missing cheese and meats which is what I would have expected.
Very dark rooms what with the walls and heavy curtains - no daylight and no lamps in the room. Dark staircases.

Lovely hotel in a great location and very reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and the refreshments and cookie in reception was a pleasant surprise. Will definitely stay again next time we're in town

I parked outside, without charge. 3 minute walk to shops and restaurants etc. staff really friendly, helpful and I believe I chose well with this hotel.
Breakfast was lovely and free tea and coffee was a nice treat.

This hotel is perfectly located in the outbound of the town centre, the rooms are really nice and very well decorated. The shower is great, lots of nice features. Air con in the room was needed as the room got very warm, however it went off in the night and I couldn’t get it back on. Booked again for later in the year

Perfect stay

We were in a room with a window on the car park so had to keep the blinds closed the whole time. Also water from the room above us seeped through and completely soaked our bed at night and they had no other rooms available. We had to sleep in the room, change the bedding and woke up soaked. Was not a pleasant stay.

Not bad but not great either

Fine, friendly, liked the inclusive treats (jelly beans, limoncello).
Would have preferred a higher room than the basement. Curtains open means those in car park could see directly in, at least have some frosting. Otherwise good though!

Clean and walkable to high st,however I got room underneath and shower water change very high temperature quite often

Nice quiet and great location

Great location, close to town. Limited hotel parking but pay and display opposite. Our room was small but nicely decorated/furnished. Generally found some areas looked tired and could do with a refresh. Overall, a good stay at a great price.

The woman who run reception and the breakfast area are brilliant, really helpful, big smiles and genuinely just make you feel at home. In a lovely spoilt way.

The staff were amazing & moved us when there was an issue with the bathroom. We felt however that it was a little tired, the air conditioning unit was extremely noisy even when off. No info other than by code which was not much help.

We received a warm welcome on arrival. As soon as the hotel staff saw I had come with my elderly mother, they helped to give us convenient rooms and floors, for our ease. Many thanks to the staff. The hotel is well located, yet it was quiet at night.

We went for a mini-break over the late May bank holiday weekend, and The George made the stay. An incredibly comfortable room and well appointed room. We loved the small collection of vintage books. Great breakfast. Welcoming staff. We are looking forward to another stay. Highly recommended.
4.0
Generally a comfortable stay but the bathroom had an extractor fan that you can’t switch off so was very noisy during the night.
6.0
Didn’t spend too much time in the hotel.
Found our room too small and dark. It was by the back door so we could have our curtains open. Too much clutter on the dressing table and nowhere to put toiletries etc. fan in bathroom would not go off.

The staff, brilliant. The two reception woman we met and the breakfast woman were absolutely wonderful. The double room had virtually no standing room but a huge very comfortable bed and nice big ensuite shower. We had done over 25k steps that day so just opening the door and collapsing on the bed was fine. But not for everyone if you're staying more than a night. Little room for luggage, you would struggle. Breakfast, wow loved it, so much care and attention to quality was superb. I would upgrade next time to a bigger room next time. Although I had a fantastic night's sleep.

My second stay at The George. A boutique hotel with pleasant friendly staff. Comfortable, tastefully decorated room with easy access to parking. An easy walk to shopping areas of the Promenade and High Street, and for Montepellier Park for the Cheltenham Jazz Festival. A diverse range of restaurants compliment cuisines from around the world, situated nearby to suit every budget.

Great value for money. Walkable to restaurants and shops.
