If you’re looking for a peaceful countryside mountain getaway, Dogwood is an absolute gem of a choice.
Only 30 minutes from downtown Asheville, it offered everything we needed. The spacious fenced yard provided a secure area for our two smaller dogs to play and for us to take in picturesque surroundings. Nights were wonderfully tranquil, with clear, starry skies accompanied by the twinkling of fireflies. Mornings were equally serene, treating us to beautiful views of fog-draped mountain peaks and sunrises.
The home itself was impeccably clean and cozy, perfect for unwinding, with the porch, undoubtedly our favorite spot, offering an idyllic setting to enjoy morning coffee and the pleasant weather. True to its word, Dogwood was incredibly pet-friendly, equipped with all the essentials for our dogs, including bowls, toys, and towels.
Getting to and from the home was a breeze with the highway only a 5-minute drive away, ensuring easy travel to Asheville's attractions. There was also a well-stocked and organized Family Dollar within walking distance for any last-minute needs.
Sam proved to be an exceptional host, promptly addressing our inquiries and supplying a comprehensive binder with all necessary instructions and thoughtful recommendations for local dining and activities. Our experience was beyond exceptional and we’ve truly found our home away from home. We cannot wait to return.

I rented this house to visit family & had a family friend stay with me. The house was wonderful, the yard is great for the dog, & the location is perfect for easy access to everything. It’s also very quiet at night. I couldn’t have chosen any better.

If bringing your pups and location are your priority this is an amazing place. The fencing is perfect even for professional escape artists like my pups. This house is basically 20 minutes to downtown and lots of great hiking.
Host communication is the best I’ve ever experienced. Finally, there is just something special about the home. Can’t quite put a finger on it but it just makes you feel peaceful.
Will stay again for sure the next time we are back in the area.

We rented this home for a couple of weeks in between moving from our previous home into a new construction for which our builders needed some extra time to finish. We were excited about the location, the chance to experience a more rural stay (being city dwellers), and the huge fenced-in backyard that would be great for our dogs. Thankfully, the owner is an animal-lover and was very accommodating for our pets, which for us are our kids. Unfortunately, however, our stay was largely disrupted by lacking upkeep with maintenance issues for an old home.
The fact that this rental is a 90-year-old farmhouse is part of its charm. But, it also caused issues. The main door at the back of the house was difficult to close, the deadbolt was missing the strike plate, the door was literally falling off the hinges, and the latch on the attached screen was broken and unable to be locked. The front door of the home was just as bad because the screen door lock was faulty - disengaging from the frame at even a slight touch — and the deadbolt couldn’t be locked from the inside. It even blew completely open during one day of our stay when there were high winds. We were essentially in a home in which we never felt completely secure and ended our stay a week ahead of schedule.
We reported everything to the owner of course and he was very accommodating about giving a refund for the unused days. We hope, however, that the maintenance issues are addressed so the next guest has a better experience.

We had a great time at this cute house. It was very comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. Sam was super responsive and our dog loved the fence yard. Close enough to Asheville but far enough to enjoy the mountains in a quiet neighborhood.

Beautiful property with a beautiful view. My pup loved the whole yard that was fenced in. The sunroom is great and has an awesome view of the mountains. Communication was good with Sam. Getting to places in Asheville were a breeze from here. I would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The energy and decor of the space felt so wonderful. Best sleep I have ever had at a VRBO. Quiet and peaceful, great yard for the dogs and wonderful little touches so they felt at home too.

Finally, a rental the way it should be. Sam clearly understands hospitality and this rental home shows it. First the home is as advertised, no funky camera angles or doctored photos, what you see is what you get. No ridiculous asks or chores once you arrive, and no aggresive "or else" language in his requests. Please take out the trash and strip the beds, totally reasonable. The home was super clean, the kitchen has everything you need, Sam provides bed linens and towels and even little soaps in the shower if you forgot yours. The yard is perfect if you're traveling with a pup and the views of the mountains are amazing. This is exactly what we expect (but rarely get) from rentals on these platforms. My wife and two pups had a great experiance and look forward to staying there again on our next trip to Asheville. Thanks Sam!

This super chic industrial farmhouse vibe has everything you'd need. Places to plug in all of your devices, including USB hubs and side tables with built-in plugs. Toiletries kindly provided. Excellent heating and air system. Keyless entry. Thoughtful spaces for your fur-babies. Nominal, reasonable cleaning requests for checkout. Fun and beautiful art pieces. Staying in this home for 5 days was an absolute pleasure!

We had a wonderful stay at Sam's cottage. It was clean and comfortable and wonderful for our dog. We left something behind and Sam was responsive and generous with sending it to us which we really appreciated! Great location too. We hope to return in the Spring.

The place was super cute and newly updated, very clean and all the amenities you could ask for. Sam is a wonderful host, and we loved everything about this place. The yard is pretty big!! We spend a good bit of time out there with the dog and enjoying the fire pit. Conveniently located not a far drive to the city, or blue ridge parkway. Will definitely have to return!!! We (couple w dog) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Sam was a gracious host and the home was perfect for us. Extremely clean and the decor was close to how I decorate. This was my second time staying here and we absolutely are planning a third visit. The property is well kept, has a beautiful yard perfect for some crazy dogs looking to run. All of the necessities for pet owners are also included like water/food bowls, leash hooks, towels, etc. The location itself was only a 15 minute drive to all the best eats in Asheville and the parkway. We honestly think this is the best place to stay when traveling with dogs in Asheville, looking forward to our next visit.

We love how dog friendly Asheville is and this place was ideal. Nice fenced in yard complete with a place to sit and have morning coffee while the dog ran around. Nice rooms and nicer than average towels. Host was easy to work with.

We really enjoyed our stay and it was perfect for our family of 4 and elderly dog. Loved the nice fenced backyard. Poop bags and dog area in the laundry room with bowls were really convenient. The house itself is beautiful inside too. Loved all the decor and the bathrooms. Owner was very responsive and friendly. Convenient to asheville and hiking as well. We had a wonderful time!

We had a wonderful stay at Sam's property. The house was clean and a perfect set up for us and our dog. Sam thought of everything for our dog, including dog bowls, towels, and a clean up station. Our favorite amenity was the fenced in yard and firepit with a view of the mountains. We hope to come back again!

It's very dog-friendly with a fenced-in yard, and dog towels and elevated food and water bowls are provided in the mudroom.
Everything was well-stocked for our needs. The beds were comfy, the rain showers were nice, and the daybed in the sunroom was a wonderful nap spot.
We very much appreciated how dog-friendly the host/owner is. Our dogs had a blast and so did we!

Property is exactly as pictured and so much more. Morning coffee by the fire pit looking out at the mountains with sunshine was so relaxing. Quick drive to breweries, Biltmore and eateries. The house is extremely comfortable with a nice sized tv, plenty of amenities and oodles of charging ports for everyone’s cell and tablet. The owner made it all easy! WONDERFUL place!

We loved this small but lovely house which met all of our needs for a weekend in Asheville. It was close enough to breweries and destinations with little traffic but then far enough outside the hustle and bustle to provide a quiet retreat for at night. The decor is great and the set up for your furry friends was fabulous. I would definitely stay here again.

This property was the perfect place for a quick getaway to the mountains with our dogs. There was the perfect amount of seating in all the seating areas and the unit itself was very well kept. Easily the highlight of the stay was the massive yard and ample firewood left for us. We spent the majority of our time having our dogs play while we sat around the fire. Additionally, the unit had just about everything you could think of for Dogs, which we appreciated as it made travel much lighter for us. Thanks for the stay and looking forward to visiting again soon.

Sam's home is gorgeous, modern, great location all the amenities, a beautiful fenced in yard for the doggies and a front porch we loved relaxing on. He even had dog bowls set up in the mud room with towels for their feet after playing in the yard. He made his home welcoming for us and our dogs. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Asheville. Thank you.
