The kitchen is open and perfect for carrying on conversations with your family while preparing a delicious meal. The dining area opens onto a lovely deck. The two bedrooms are off the living room. This is a lovely small home in Manzanita in a quiet and walkable neighborhood. A leisurely 10 minute walk will get you 'downtown' and a 15 minute walk to the beach. House is comfortable, well equipped, with wonderful outdoor seating. Or stay indoors with the cozy gas fireplace. Had a friend come stay for one night too. Plenty of room. Loved how peaceful it all was! 'Move in' ready!

Home was true to the description and most pictures. Good location and nice areas to relax outside with new outdoor furniture in some cases. It was a home with character. Kitchen well equipped for our purposes, except glass wine glasses.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gray Whale Cove. The home is cute and cozy. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay in Manzanita. Quiet neighborhood. Loved being able to walk to town or the beach. We'd definitely stay here again for future visits to the coast.

Beautiful, warm decor, fully stocked kitchen, best back yard of any place we’ve ever stayed. Location can’t be beat, near beach, groceries, eateries, coffee. Slight glitch in door lock brought immediate response. Fireplace produces stunning effects. Furniture and beds very comfortable

Manzanita is my happy place. I love the beach, shops, restaurants, farmer's market, the quiet and the roar of the ocean. This home is close to everything. It is well-stocked and clean. Everything worked. It was quiet. I have a small dog and I appreciated the fenced backyard, although part of that fence is an old door you have to put out on the deck. It served the purpose because my dog isn't very big. The backyard is very nicely landscaped and would be a great spot to sit and relax, if you have the time. Our visit was only 2 nights. With only two bedrooms and one bathroom, it isn't meant for a crowd. For my sister and me, it was perfect.

This is the second year that I've stayed in this home and found it to be very comfortable. Love the backyard and all the flowers. The kitchen is well appointed and there was never anything that we needed that wasn't found in the home.

My husband and I have stayed at the Gray Whale Cove before and it’s always a nice time. The house is bright, airy and clean. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and utensils if you want to cook. The house has a television in the living room and a television in one of the bedrooms. The backyard is lovely with outdoor furniture to sit on and it’s quiet and peaceful. Manzanita is a special place and there are nice shops and restaurants in town. The beach is absolutely beautiful and with each day that arrives the sky continues to change in color.

This home offered a very welcoming experience from the moment we entered the front door to the backyard . Don't be put off by first impressions from the curb. It is well appointed and nicely decorated inside and the backyard is ready for any summer barbecue or peaceful lounging one might desire.

This property was perfect for us. It is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly want or need. The home was clean and nicely organized. The yard is beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed our 10 day stay at Gray Whale Cove and hopefully can return soon!

Although we were aware that the rental was dog friendly, there was still a lot more dog hair than we were happy with. For example, the table has bolts on the underside and there were long tufts of dog hair hanging from both (obviously as the dog walked by the hair was caught). It was clearly visible when you walked in the door. There was also dog hair/dust bunnies in the corners of the room and under the furniture. More attention to detail in the cleaning would have caught this. Other than that the house was lovely and clean, my daughter loved all the whale decoration. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to cook a fantastic Christmas dinner. It is a bit away from the beach and up a short hill, but that wasn't a problem for us. There was a small problem with the wifi, but that was dealt with very quickly. We probably wouldn't stay at this location again, but we had a great experience with SSVR and would use them for future vacations without hesitation.

Since our last favorite rental was sold and is no longer available, we've looked for a place we can feel good about returning to. I think we found it at Gray Whale Cove. The biggest problem is that it's so quickly booked up.

We had a wonderful time. WE love the house. The only thing I would say we were unhappy about is the old Teflon set of pans are really unhealthy to cook with. Otherwise everything was great.

We’ve stayed at Gray Whale Cove several times and love the location, cozy feel and the lovely patio. We were really disappointed to find out that the new bedroom and bath were locked off and not part of the rental. It is very strange to rent 2/3 of a house, so we’re on the fence about renting this property again.

Easy process to rent beach home. Rental company was available over email to answer questions and get the rental formalized. We enjoyed the house and found it very comfortable overall. My only real complaint is that the rental company seemed to disappear after collecting the rental fees. I both emailed and called just prior to the rental stay in order to firm up check-in procedures. Disappointingly, I never heard back from the rental company, which seemed quite unprofessional. We were able to get into the house with no problems but it still would have been nice to have my communications acknowledged...

We really enjoyed our stay at Gray Whale Cove – as expected the weather was rainy but we stayed warm and cozy with the gas fireplace and loved seeing the rain through the skylights! Very comfortable beds and a nice backyard. We look forward to returning!

We liked the house. It rained so we didn't get to take advantage of the nice secluded yard and patio.We were never able to get the media to work , TV or music so we played games instead. My only real negative is that a hefty security deposit is non refundable regardless of whether or not there was any damage to the home. This is an unusual and unfair policy.

This home was thoughtfully laid out to provide the maximum comfort and everything a guest would need. Comfortable seating, plenty of lamps (intermittent rain allowed for reading books provided). The gas fireplace’s extra sparkle added warmth and beauty from the log flames. Back yard nicest landscaping we’ve seen. Terrific grill we used several times. Beds comfortable, extra nice laundry room, sound system(!), dog towel provided. The Gray Whale Cove is situated to provide almost total privacy from every room. Sky lights cheer up the entire living room and dining area. Kitchen has everything. Extra blankets and towels appreciated. Our favorite home now and we’ve been coming to Manzanita for 25 years.

Gray Whale is a great location, very clean, comfortable and very well stocked.The house is super clean and newer comfortable furnishings. Perfect location to walk to downtown and the beach. 5 stars and we will definitely rent this house again.Sunset Vacation staff is superb and made all of our arrangements effortless.

Gray Whale is such a lovely home w/ so much room and generous amenities. Bedrooms are really nice w/ big comfy beds. Great kitchen, grill outside and lovely back patio. Cable and wifi. Ridiculously close walk to both town and beach. And extra Yayyyy, DOG FRIENDLY!! Thank you, we adored this place.

A quiet, updated rambler we all of the amenities. 15 minute w,all to the beach & close to town. It was comfortable, yet disturbing to be frightened by elderly relatives of owners who surprised me on the back patio watering the plants! I had to leave the property due to the intrusion. Not a good situation!
