Peaceful location. You will be surrounded by the beautiful bird sounds from dawn till night. Comfy cottage. Plush bath towels. Drinking water was very good. Conveniently located to Volcanoes NP. Enjoyed our stay!

Very quiet. Friendly duck.

Great place to relax and unwind after a day of hiking. Perfect if going to the volcano National park!

Starting with the one lane roads making your way through the rainforest to this lovely property to sitting on the back deck surrounded by greenery it felt magical. The cabin is small and cozy. Very convenient to Volcanoes National Park. Chillier nights were thwarted with the electric blanket. Perhaps a little tight on kitchen counter space but wasn’t a big problem. We would definitely return to stay here.

Stayed 3 nights in this tranquil little hideaway in the jungle. Hosts were very timely and responsive to any of our requests. One thing I would mention is that the photo of the cottage was taken from the back yard, so what you see when you get there does not look like the picture (you'll see a "Ferny Hollow" sign once you pull in). Close access to the park & had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay. Thank you, Aubrey.

Place as described, lush rainforest around property, very close to national park. Easy check-in/out. Everything was functional. Had one concern which the host went out of their way to address.

This private cottage is absolutely charming! It was a perfect 2-night stay for us. It was extremely clean and had everything we could possibly need. We appreciated the heated blanket on the bed, the towel warmer in the bathroom, and the fireplace as the nights can be quite chilly. It was really close to Volcanoes National Park which made early morning hiking a breeze. At night, we drove into the park for star gazing which was breathtaking! We were lucky to have such clear nights that we could see the Milky Way! It was even better than the expensive tour we did last time up on Mauna Kea.What an unforgettable stay! Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with us!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It’s near the Hawaii Volcanoes national park, and is in a lush and quiet neighborhood.

This is a cool place in Volcano. The listing says Mountain View, but it is actually in Volcano. We almost didn't book it because nobody stays in Mountain View. Needless to say, we were happy with what we found. It is adorable, small, and cozy. When the volcano was erupting it was great. We also spent time hiking in the park. A good time was had by us both.

Cosy cottage nestled in a lush rainforest with towering tree ferns, wild birds, frogs, and flowers. Absolutely relaxing and reconnection to earth/life. Sunshine and general rain keeps this place a paradise. Only 2 miles from the Volcano National Park. Our new vacation destination while visiting the Big Island of Hawaii.

I can't describe how lovely this place is.... inside and out! Comfortable and cozy and literally tucked into a Ferny Hollow.

We absolutely loved our stay. The cottage is perfectly appointed and was the perfect escape. Would definitely stay here again.

This is probably the loveliest, most charming rental we have ever stayed in! Not only is it well-stocked it is very tastefully decorated, and in a beautiful rain forest very close to Volcano National Park. Finding it is a little challenging, and I’d recommend doing it in the daylight for sure. We had no need to contact owners but from guest book read that they are very responsive. Highly recommend!

Quiet, peaceful and lovely surroundings!
Thanks so much / Mahalo!

The property was beautiful. The only thing to be mindful about is that there are limited resources within 45 minutes. It's best to grab what you need for your stay before you head to the cottage.

Great Place, well maintained, very interesting decor including the use of salvaged refinished material. Looka great.

We were a little nervous driving down the unpaved road to the location but once we found the cabin it was a perfect place to hang out and visit the park. The cabin is so peaceful. We loved sitting on the back porch and looking out at the beautiful plants and trees. The bed was really comfortable and warm. The park is really only 5 minutes away. Our host was very welcoming.

5 stars inside. Everything the very best hotels offer. Short hop to the volcano at night. Great directions by the park rangers and Sshley the iwner

What a delight it was to stay in this wonderful cottage close to Volcanoes National Park. It is attractive and very clean with attention paid to detail. It gets chilly in the morning but we enjoyed the warmth of the electric heater that looks like a small gas stove. It was so nice to return to our cool, peaceful little Shangri-La after hiking or exploring in the sun and wind.

Ferny was a cozy place to escape the rainy weather the weekend we stayed. We love the off-the beaten path areas.

I do not even know where to begin to describe how much my husband and I enjoyed staying at Ferny Hollow Cottage. Aubrey and Jeff are wonderful hosts and we lacked nothing. She even switched on the electric blanket for us before our arrival on a chilly evening! We loved the quaint, romantic cottage which is totally enchanting and we enjoyed strolling through the magical garden pathways. We were also a very short drive away from the national park to get our fill of volcano adventures. We would love to become repeat guests!

When you walk through the rainforest foliage to the door you’re immersed in a secret garden. It’s a wonderful scene. The cottage is well thought out, very clean, and neat as a pin. It has unique historic touches and a vintage feel with glass knobs and a door that is from the original Volcano House. The independently controlled heated blankets are the bomb. Very dark and quiet at night, and so close to the park (8 min) that you can come back to the cabin for lunch and return in less or about the same time it would take to eat at the park.

The cabin is really set in a tropical rain forest with lots of beautiful vegetation. The cabin is cute with a nice bedroom, bathroom, small common area and small kitchenette (we were disappointed that the oven didn't work though). The porch was nice but a table would have made it better (there were just 2 chairs and a foot stool). The place was quiet except when the 2 dogs in the house on the property were barking. The location was close to the national park but the unpaved road was quite bumpy. In the Hawaii tradition we had to take our shoes off before entering the house which was a little difficult as there was no chair/stool outside the door-a real problem when taking off hiking boots!
So, nice place but had some quirkiness.

Adorable cozy 1 bedroom with kitchenette easy drive to Volcano National Park. Electric fireplace and blanket for cool nights. Coffee, tea, fridge, microwave and stovetop. Nice lanai

Owner was good to deal with and the property has very convenient access to the park and all the spectacular views

Great cozy hideaway near the sites at Volcanoes park.

We stayed here for a couple of nights while visiting the volcanic park. This place is about 5 minutes away from the park entrance. It is tucked away in a cute little neighborhood. Though there are houses and neighbors, it really feels like you are isolated. The area is very quiet and it gets pretty dark in the evening. There are cute little restaurants near by and Hilo is only about 40 minutes away.
The place itself is perfect. No complaints and would stay here again if visiting the area. I guess I do have a small very minor issue. The bathroom window does not have a covering or curtain large enough for privacy. So even though it feels like we are isolated from civilization, I couldn't help but feel vulnerable when using the toilet.
Really loved the place, very cute and clean. Communication with the Owner/Rep was very responsive.

We were nestled in a rainforest with beautiful flowers. A perfect jumping off point for exploring Volcanos National Park. Our lunch at Ohelo in Volcano Village was great. We will be back.

We loved our stay here. There were so many little thoughtful touches when we arrived, including fresh flowers, warm towels awaiting on the towel warmers, and beautiful little lights that were motion activated outside. The place exudes tranquility and peace, and that was perfect for us. Thank you, and we hope to return!

The cottage is set up nicely for Volcano. Space heater, electric blanket, electric fireplace, flashlight you’ll need for walking see the lava flow, insect repellent, etc. It’s a great place to unwind and explore the east and south sides of the island.

The property managerJoey and the owner, who lives very nearby, make every effort to make your stay a pleasant one. The property is a little difficult to locate but the isolation and beautiful surroundings, make the effort worthwhile. It is a beautiful, nicely equipped cabin definitely worth a stay!
