Mountain-view stay

The hotel is situated really high up on the mountain with magnificent views of Mt Etna. We had a room on the third floor (so be sure to pack light as there is no lift). The hosts were friendly and helpful although English proved a challenge. A decent typical Italian breakfast was provided in the morning.

Since the hotel advertised wifi with the room, it was disappointing to have it in the lobby only (take note). Parking was provided but some distance away and with a big difference in altitude (climbing up and down to get to it). It is a steep, unforgiving and “interesting” drive up to the hotel, on a hair-raising road with many steep bends—but for which you’re rewarded with beautiful views of Etna and the coast.

Exceptional

We fell in love with this hotel. Simple and beautiful at the same time. It offered us everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The room was very clean and cleaned daily. The views are exceptional, the owners are very friendly and helpful, we also really liked the breakfast- a typical Italian tasty croissants, cappuccinos and juices.

Fantastic location and views, lovely welcoming hosts, and delicious breakfast.

View is exceptional, village is small, but has all facilities, breakfast croissants delicious, as was the coffee. Restaurant next door also great food. Parking was tight, but achievable.

Layout of the bathroom, was interesting, but everything worked.

Fantastico! Surpassed all our expectations.

A lovely family run hotel, the hotel has everything you need for your stay. What makes this place special is the warmest hospitality from the owners and the views are unbelievable. Breakfast was delicious, and they couldn’t do enough for us throughout our stay, even called a taxi for us when the bus didn’t arrive on our departure. Will definitely be back!

The hotel is located at the very top of a tall rock formation near Taormina. From the rooms' balcony once can see Mount Etna as well as the city of Taormina and the coast. The views are fantastic. It may be the only place with parking, they have two or three spots that they can save for you. The price to pay for the great views is the road to get there. Very narrow, steep and lots of hard curves and nice views of the precipices. This may be a good or a bad thing, depending on your comfort level with such a thing. I am scared of heights, so it made for a very stressful driving to the top and down. There is a bus that will take you to Taormina, even then I could not look outside the window. The breakfast was good and the staff was nice.

The hotel is stuck on the 70s. The rooms are very big and so is the bathroom, but it has a strange distribution. The shower in the middle of the bathroom, and the water falls outside even when careful.

Staying in the mountaintop town of Castelmola is quite special. This is a low key hotel with lots of places to sit and relax.The view from our room was stunning..

When the wind howls around the building, the bedroom windows rattle and even blow open. It was blowing fiercely when we were there....but we also had a birdseye view of the storm outside.

The location is fantastic.

Bedroom with balcony offering panoramic views of coastline and Mt Etna. Near the bus stop and Catelmola has many restaurants.

Bedroom had two single beds which were not the most comfortable. The shower tray was enclosed with a plastic curtain. Unfortunately care needs to be exercised not to flood the bathroom. Coffee at breakfast was instant.

Old furniture, everything old, the water in the bathroom didn’t flow out.very old and bad beds. Only croaissant for the breakfast + tea, coffee, juice. Noise on the street from 5-6 AM

What a view!

Simple family run hotel in a very consequent 50s-/60s-style ;-) but the view beats it all, the family is more than lovely and the room was absolutely spotless. We can only recommend this place and would definitely come back. Seeing Mount Etna from your bed... your balcony... or while having breakfast on the terrace.... what more could you ask for.

Thin walls (like in probably most of Sicily's hotel rooms...) so you hear your neighbors clearly. And although we somehow liked the "visiting grandma"-atmosphere, a little renovation/modernisation won't do any harm.

Excellent stay with great breakfast and wonderful view

Awesome place. Staff was kind and helpful. We received a guest parking sign which allowed us to enter into the town (which is not allowed otherwise for non-residents) and park our car in front of the hotel. Breakfast was great and the best thing about this place - there was beautiful view on the Etna from the terrace.

No wi-fi in the room. Room and bed could use some renovation, but it was not so bad

Amazing view from the terrasse

One od the greatest localisations im Castelmola. Marcelo always willing to help. He explained the main attractions and how to get to Taormina/Castelmola by bus, gave tips from him about restaurants. They have given us a ticket, which allowllowed to park our car next to the hotel for free. Delicious crossaints with chocollate or crema, cafe and juice. 2 -3 minutes distance to everything on Castelmola

Wifi only next to the reception, but in such a beautifull place you have more time to enjoy the view :)

Breathtaking view

Although the hotel needs a renovation, the views make up for its value. The views from the rooms are amazing, looking over the Sicilian landscape, particularly Etna volcano. The room was clean and the owners were friendly. Breakfast had delicious croissants and decent coffee

The room was outdated, needing an extreme renovation. We were also unsure where to park our car as the owners couldn’t clearly communicate due to lack of English.
